About Truewood By Merrill, River Park - CLOSED

Truewood By Merrill, River Park, which was located at 3201 River Park Dr in Fort Worth, Texas, served seniors on a nine-acre, park-like campus next to the Trinity River, with 212 apartments spread across studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom layouts. The community offered different levels of care, including independent living, assisted living, nursing home services, and specialized memory care for people with Alzheimer's or other dementia, all designed to help residents age in place even when their care needs changed. Memory care provided secure units, unique care plans, alarm bracelets for wandering prevention, and care for those with more serious behaviors or who were prone to wandering, with the ability to handle up to 22 residents in that area. The community's state license, number 308347, allowed a capacity for up to 71 residents in assisted living. Staff included registered nurses, medical assistants, a doctor on call, and sitters and homemakers, all with background checks and drug screenings, available 24 hours a day, handling things like medication management, incontinence and diabetic care, and even using mechanical lifts or transfer help when needed.

Apartments could come with wheelchair showers, tubs, kitchenettes, cable TV, and some were on the ground floor for easy access. Residents had access to room service dining and restaurant-style meals, with options for special diets like vegetarian, low sodium, or no sugar. Guests could enjoy meals too. Meals were planned and cooked by chefs focused on good nutrition and taste. Handling the small stuff, staff helped with housekeeping, laundry, grocery runs, and errands, so people could enjoy their time.

Activities filled the schedule onsite and offsite, with stretching and yoga classes, gardening clubs, trivia games, art and cooking classes, brain fitness programs, educational speakers, holiday parties, day trips, and even community service programs. People could worship onsite or offsite, as devotional programs and other spiritual services were part of the routine. Recreation spaces included a theater room, fitness center, piano or organ, and raised garden beds, plus spaces outside like patios and butterfly or hummingbird gardens where folks could gather or do activities. Inside, there were gathering spots like the central fireplace, TV lounge, media center, library, and meeting rooms. The beauty salon and visiting therapists-physical, occupational, speech-helped meet both grooming and health needs for many residents.

Residents could have cats or dogs up to 40 pounds, and pet care was offered too. Staff could speak both English and Spanish. High-speed Wi-Fi reached all over. Transportation included resident parking, free rides for appointments, and pay-per-use transport, with easy access to public transit, making it easier to get around. Awards recognized the staff for being helpful and friendly, and the activity programs and clean, peaceful grounds brought satisfaction for many who lived there.

The community allowed for both men and women, as rules set by the site allowed, with programs aimed at wellness for the whole body and personalized care plans. People could age in place, with help changing as their needs changed over time, and short-term respite care could be arranged if required, along with hospice care for end-of-life needs. The environment focused on helping residents make friends and stay active. Pricing started at $1,595 per month for a one-bedroom apartment in assisted living, and $3,700 for a shared bedroom in memory care. The site closed permanently, but while it was open, Truewood By Merrill, River Park, was known for its wide range of services, friendly staff, and calm, safe settings for seniors needing simple, decent care and attention.
