    Warm faith-based home providing peace

I chose this home for my father and have been very pleased - beautiful, well-located facility with spotless rooms, a lovely chapel and daily Mass. The dedicated Sisters and attentive staff treat residents like family, provide competent, mission-driven care, organized activities and meals, and gave us real peace of mind. Joanne and the team are warm, hardworking, and faithful; I confidently recommend this welcoming, home-like community.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews paint a facility with a strong faith-based identity and a long-standing, mission-driven culture. The presence of resident Sisters, an active chapel program, daily Mass, and frequent sacramental and devotional opportunities are central features; many families and residents describe spiritual care as a primary strength. The facility projects a home-like aesthetic — antiques, family photos, and a carefully maintained chapel — and reviewers consistently highlight the comfort and warmth that creates for residents.

Clinical and personal care are frequently described in positive terms: nursing staff are characterized as compassionate, attentive, and capable, and several accounts emphasize thorough medical oversight and proactive communication. Cleanliness is another recurring strength — reviewers use words such as immaculate and spotless to describe hallways, rooms, and common areas. On-site amenities (a small gym, beauty parlor) and well-kept grounds with walking paths support resident activity and mobility. The community’s small size and close-knit atmosphere contribute to a sense of security and peace of mind for many families.

At the same time, a consistent set of operational concerns appears across reviews. Admissions procedures are described as stringent and sometimes duplicative, involving repeated health screenings and a strict requirement for external medical records that can delay placement. Staffing is identified as a facility-level constraint: reviewers mention low caregiver-to-resident ratios and limited after-hours coverage, which can lead to variable responsiveness and occasional delays in assistance. These staffing patterns also relate to reports of uneven staff cooperation and communication at times.

Dining and activity programming present a mixed picture. The dining room is generally praised for its atmosphere and service, but some reviewers note inconsistent meal quality and small portion sizes, suggesting budget constraints or variability in kitchen operations. Activity programming is robust and creative — from intergenerational events to virtual meetings during lockdown — and supports socialization and spiritual growth; however, a few families indicated the schedule may not align with every resident’s preferences or needs.

Finally, while the facility’s physical plant is well maintained overall, reviewers flagged specific operational details such as confusing exit signage and occasional wayfinding issues. In sum, St Agnes Home appears to offer warm, faith-centered, and clean accommodations with strong personal and spiritual care. Prospective residents and families should weigh those strengths against operational considerations around admissions procedures, staffing coverage (particularly after hours), and consistency of meal service when making placement decisions.
