    Neglected care and unsafe conditions

I placed my father here because staff seemed professional and kind at first, but inside the facility is dingy and dark with cracked floors, crowded dining, and depressing, dated rooms. Care was neglected - missed feedings, inattentive staff, diaper changes handled inappropriately by a male caregiver - and an unsupervised fire led to a hospital visit; staff never apologized. Food was undercooked/cold, residents looked unwell, and they overcharged us (legal action and a refund followed). I do not recommend this facility.

    Summary review

The reviews present a mixed but predominantly negative picture with a few isolated positive comments. While some reviewers describe staff as friendly, kind, or professional and note that the exterior or grounds look nice, the larger and more serious themes center on lapses in care, safety concerns, poor facility conditions, and management/billing problems. Multiple reviewers explicitly state they would not recommend the facility, and at least one family pursued legal action following severe incidents.

Care quality and safety are the most significant recurring concerns. Several reviewers report neglectful behavior such as residents not being fed, staff not paying sufficient attention, and a hospital visit that reviewers link to the facility's care. One reviewer specifically raised alarm about diaper changes performed by a male caregiver, which made them uncomfortable and suggests problems with privacy, staffing assignments, or family communication. In the most serious accounts, there was an unsupervised fire incident and allegations of staff negligence and unsafe conditions; one review also reports a resident death. These reports indicate potential systemic safety and supervision gaps rather than isolated oversights.

Staff and communication show a divide in perceptions. Some reviewers praise the staff as professional and kind, but numerous others report poor communication, lack of apology or acknowledgement after incidents, and a sense that staff did not take responsibility for problems. The contrast between occasional positive remarks about friendliness and multiple complaints about communication failures and unresponsiveness suggests inconsistent staff performance or inconsistent experiences between different shifts or units.

Facility appearance and maintenance are frequently criticized. Reviewers mention that, although the outside looks nice, the interior is dingy and dark, with cracked flooring and rooms described as old, dated, dark, and depressing. The dining hall is described as crowded, and overall the facility is said to need remodeling and painting. These descriptions point to both aesthetic and potential safety/maintenance shortcomings that affect resident comfort and possibly mobility/safety (cracked floors, dim lighting).

Dining and nutrition are another problem area. Several reviewers report undercooked or cold food, strange details like 'pink sausage,' and generally unappetizing or mismatched meal presentation. One reviewer explicitly said residents were not being fed appropriately. These reports raise concerns about meal preparation standards, food safety, and monitoring of residents' nutritional intake.

Activities and engagement are notably absent from the reviews — reviewers did not report on organized activities, and the lack of mention is itself a concern. Combined with descriptions of dark, depressing rooms and reports of residents looking 'odd,' this suggests limited social or recreational programming and insufficient staff engagement to support resident wellbeing.

Management, billing, and legal matters are also problematic in the reviewers' accounts. There are allegations of overcharging, at least one refund was issued, and legal action has been taken by a family. Multiple reviewers reported no apology or proper response from staff or management after serious incidents. This pattern implies dissatisfaction not only with day-to-day care but also with how complaints and adverse events are handled administratively.

Overall, while a minority of comments praise staff friendliness and professionalism, the preponderance of reports highlight serious and actionable concerns: inconsistent or neglectful care, safety incidents (including an unsupervised fire and a reported death), poor food quality, inadequate facility maintenance, poor communication, and billing/legal disputes. Families considering this facility should investigate these issues directly, ask for documentation of staffing levels and incident reports, request references from current residents' families, inspect interiors for maintenance and cleanliness, and clarify meal and activity programs. The reviews suggest that experiences vary, but the risks identified by multiple reviewers are substantial and merit careful, evidence-based inquiry before placement.

    About Diana's Care Home

Diana's Care Home gives seniors a place that feels like home, with help for those who can't live safely by themselves but don't need the intense care found in nursing homes, so families find some peace of mind knowing their loved ones get support. The home's licensed for up to 35 beds but can house up to 28 residents, and you'll see both private and semi-private rooms, with a focus on keeping the space warm, safe, and secure, which is especially important for those with Alzheimer's and memory needs who need gentle understanding. Residents get help with things like bathing, getting dressed, medication reminders, hygiene, and support in and out of the shower, which means people who need a bit more help day-to-day can keep their independence as much as possible while also having staff around to watch over things and lend a hand. There's incontinence and diabetic care if needed, and the home takes care of non-ambulatory seniors too, with staff and support services ready for a range of health conditions, but skilled nursing isn't provided like you'd find in a hospital.

The building's set up for seniors with different mobility needs and has features that make getting around easier, like no-pet rules to maintain a calm place and a 24-hour call system so help's close by in an emergency. There's a book room for quiet time, a wellness room, visiting barbers or parlors so people can look and feel their best, spa areas, lots of outdoor spaces and game areas for relaxing or playing with others, and places to gather inside for movies, music, or crafts. Activities go on all the time-music therapy, tabletop games, scheduled events, exercise times, movie nights, and social evenings, plus sometimes there's pet therapy or residents can join garden strolls, which helps keep people active and engaged. Scheduled transportation takes folks to the doctor, on errands, or to church and faith gatherings, while the kitchen staff serves meals every day and makes sure everyone eats well.

The home's licensed through California's Department of Social Services under numbers 011440289 and 079200787, and is a recognized Residential Care Elderly facility, so care meets strict state standards, and there are regular checks. Diana's Care Home doesn't take pets and Medicare is not accepted unless a resident's certified through the proper channels. Memory care is part of the services too, so seniors with dementia or cognitive decline get a safe, stimulating routine that fits their changing needs, and short-term respite is sometimes available if families need a break or someone needs to stay for a little while. Hospice care is an option for end-of-life comfort, with a goal to preserve each person's dignity and show kindness every day. Residents can join devotionals off-site for spiritual support. Tours can be scheduled for families who want to see the place before deciding.
