    Pleased with new Christian community

I moved my father into this brand-new, beautiful Christian-based community and I'm very pleased. The facility is modern and clean with great amenities - courtyards and patios, theater, coffee/popcorn bar, whirlpool, library, rec room for cooking and art, and restaurant-style dining with healthy options. Director Sarah Brewer and the staff (Deedee and Mike particularly) are professional, attentive, and genuinely caring; onboarding and coordination with outside providers were seamless. There are constant activities - music, bingo, baking, field trips, movies, happy hours - and transportation is available; I highly recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviewers portray Villas of Holly Brook as a new, well-appointed assisted living and memory-care community with a strong emphasis on hospitality, individualized attention, and a wide suite of amenities. Many families highlighted the facility’s modern design, multiple courtyards and patios, and plentiful common spaces, and described the dining experience as upscale with healthy options. The combination of on-site features — including a movie theater, library, whirlpool, coffee house and recreational rooms — contributes to an environment oriented toward resident engagement and comfort.

Care and staff: Caregivers were consistently described as compassionate, professional, and attentive. Several reviewers specifically praised staff members and leadership for hands-on, personalized onboarding and for getting residents settled. Memory-care areas were noted as attractive and well-equipped, with private bathrooms and environments that families found soothing. At the same time, reviewers indicated variability in clinical competency across staff and shifts: daytime staff and named caregivers were praised for dementia skill, whereas overnight and weekend coverage was described as less experienced in dementia-specific interventions. This pattern suggests strong one-on-one caregiving in many cases, but inconsistent dementia-care expertise depending on staffing and scheduling.

Clinical oversight and crisis response: A subset of accounts described events involving hospital transfers, medication changes, and emergency responders following episodes of increased agitation. Those descriptions point to concerns about medication-management consistency and clinical monitoring for residents with complex needs, as well as variability in behavioral-crisis response. Prospective residents with frequent clinical complexity or advanced dementia should inquire specifically about on-call clinical coverage, medication-review procedures, and the facility’s protocols for behavioral escalations.

Dining and activities: Dining is a clear strength: reviewers characterized the dining room as restaurant-like with healthy selections, snacks, and periodic social bars and events. Activity programming is robust, with scheduled music, crafts, cooking classes, baking, outings, holiday events and regular social hours. The community appears to emphasize social engagement and varied programming to support quality of life.

Facilities and operations: As a newer, Christian-based community, Villas of Holly Brook presents as clean, modern, and amenity-rich. Families appreciated transportation services and the assistance provided during move-in, including guidance on supplies and apartment setup. However, several operational concerns recurred: staffing shortages (particularly at night/weekends), scheduling problems, and perceptions of favoritism or cliquishness in management culture were raised. These issues manifested as communication challenges and stress around shift coverage and schedule reliability.

What to consider when touring: Families should verify current staffing ratios and coverage patterns for nights and weekends, ask how the community ensures consistent dementia-care training across all shifts, and review medication-review and behavioral-crisis protocols. It is also reasonable to request recent examples of clinical coordination with outside providers, to meet the care team members who would be responsible for overnight/weekend shifts, and to ask how management addresses scheduling conflicts and family concerns. Taken together, the reviews indicate a facility with strong hospitality, numerous amenities, and many dedicated caregivers, coupled with operational areas—staffing consistency, medication oversight, and schedule/management practices—that merit focused questions during an in-person evaluation.

About Villas of Holly Brook - Belleville

Villas of Holly Brook Assisted Living & Memory Care: Belleville sits off Frank Scott Parkway in a quiet, pretty neighborhood, and the grounds stay well-kept with gardens and walking paths where seniors can spend time outdoors. The community gives support to both those needing assisted living and those living with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia, offering specialized care in a secure space tailored for memory care residents called Reflections Memory Care. Apartments come in many sizes-studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and deluxe two-bedroom-for assisted living, and there are private and shared studio options for people who need memory care. Every apartment has a private bathroom, air conditioning, cable TV, high-speed internet, and phone service, and rooms can be furnished and wheelchair-accessible, making move-in easier for everyone.

Staff keep watch 24 hours a day and use an emergency call system, so help is always close by, and there's a nurse present 12 to 16 hours a day. Trained team members help with daily needs like bathing, dressing, medication, transfers, and provide diabetic and non-ambulatory care, while also working alongside healthcare providers for extra peace of mind. Memory care services focus on dementia and cognitive impairment, offering a dementia waiver, specialized memory programming, and plenty of activities designed to reduce confusion and keep everyone engaged. Both memory care and assisted living residents join in planned day trips, daily group activities, fitness classes, game nights, devotional groups, and both on-site and off-site social events, with some activities led by the residents themselves. There's transportation available, including community rides for group outings and help with medical appointments or trips to the doctor.

The dining room serves meals planned by chefs, and menus can be adjusted for special diets, with snacks provided to support wellness and enjoyment. Common areas invite people to spend time together in the fitness room, garden, game room, library, wellness center, computer center, beauty salon, or other shared spots. The whole place feels comfortable and safe, with friendly, helpful staff known for being joyful, respectful, and kind to residents and visitors alike. Everything is set up to help seniors stay active, connect with others, and keep as much independence as possible while getting any needed support with daily living, whether in assisted living or memory care. Housekeeping and laundry services are included so residents can focus on what matters most each day, and families are welcome to take a tour and see how the community runs.
