    Affordable, caring but inconsistent care

I moved my mother here and I like the clean, newly remodeled rooms, friendly/welcoming staff, good food, daily activities and on-site medical services - it's affordable and feels safe. That said, housekeeping and laundry are inconsistent (clothes often smell), I've seen missing items, spotty staff responsiveness, medication/med dispenser issues, and limited support for advanced Alzheimer's or full assistance needs. Transportation and outings are unreliable and the surrounding neighborhood isn't great. Overall it's a good value with caring staff, but not ideal if your loved one needs hands-on medical or 24/7 supportive care.

    Summary review

The reviews for Churchview Supportive Living are highly mixed, showing a facility that delivers a positive experience for some residents and families while triggering serious concerns for others. Several reviewers highlight warm, attentive staff, newly remodeled apartments, on-site health services, plentiful activities, and amenities such as a barber shop, nail salon and on-site medical practitioners. These positive accounts frequently emphasize a welcoming, family-like atmosphere, good intake experiences, and perceived value (meals and some health care included), and paint Churchview as affordable and comfortable for seniors who retain a degree of independence.

Contrasting sharply with those positive reports are numerous negative summaries detailing operational, safety and care-quality failures. Multiple reviewers allege inconsistent or poor staff responsiveness, limited CNA interaction, and instances where basic needs were not met. Medication administration problems are reported repeatedly, including a non-working medication dispenser and claims of overmedication by staff. Other reviewers accuse CNAs and nurses of indifference, underfeeding residents, and in extreme cases links to hospitalizations. Communication lapses are also noted — families report poor notification practices (for example, not being informed of hospitalizations) and slow or infrequent phone responses.

Facility maintenance and cleanliness emerge as a divided area. Positive reviewers describe clean, hotel-like rooms and good sanitation, while negative reviewers report bed bugs, mice/rats, mouse traps in hallways, broken laundry machines, and clothing that does not come out smelling fresh or appears to have been washed without soap. These contradictory observations suggest variability across time, shifts, or individual units. Security is another area of mixed feedback: some reviewers feel the facility appears safe and cite security cameras and attentive security personnel, while others point out there is no 24/7 security and express concerns about the surrounding neighborhood and nearby street-level violence.

Dining and dietary services attract conflicting comments. Some residents praise the food, the availability of meals, and the dining room. Others report substandard meals — unhealthy choices, cold sandwiches, rude kitchen staff, and a gloomy dining environment. Activities and social programming are generally seen as a strength by many reviewers, who mention daily activities, games, walks, computer training, and family-inclusive events. On-site amenities (grocery, salon, medical visits) and rehabilitation services are also cited positively and are likely valuable to residents with moderate needs.

Management and administration draw mixed remarks as well. Several accounts commend administrative staff, marketing personnel and specific directors for friendliness and helpfulness during tours and move-in. Conversely, other reviewers accuse administration of painting a “pretty picture” while failing to address complaints, avoiding grievance conversations, and tolerating staff turnover. There are also red-flag notes that some highly positive reviews may come from employees or family members, raising questions about the authenticity or representativeness of the praise.

Taken together, the pattern across reviews suggests Churchview may perform well for residents who require moderate support and who engage with the activity programs and on-site services — particularly when they encounter conscientious staff and newer, remodeled apartments. However, the facility appears to struggle intermittently with consistency in staffing, medication management, housekeeping, pest control, security coverage, communication with families, and the ability to support residents with high-assistance needs (for example, severe Alzheimer’s or total assistance requirements). Prospective residents and families should weigh the positive amenities and supportive reports against documented safety, cleanliness and care concerns. Recommendations before deciding would include: scheduling multiple tours at different times/shifts, asking for specifics on nurse/CNA staffing levels and turnover, inspecting laundry and housekeeping processes, inquiring about pest-control history and responses, verifying medication administration protocols (including dispenser maintenance), and confirming policies for notifications to family and 24/7 security coverage. This due diligence can help clarify whether Churchview’s strong points align with an individual resident’s care needs and risk tolerance.
