    New building with helpful staff

I live here and it's an excellent, brand-new building with a very helpful, loving front office and staff. The units feel spacious overall though some rooms are small, and residents mostly prepare their own meals. Activities are steady - bingo once or twice a month, movies, arts & crafts, and outings to museums and restaurants.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews for Wrightwood Senior Developments is positive, with multiple comments highlighting the newness and attractiveness of the facility and strong praise for staff. Reviewers repeatedly call the building nice and brand-new, and at least one comment specifically noted that the building tour left a good impression. Staff and front office personnel receive particularly favorable mentions — described as outstanding, helpful, loving, and generally very good — and there is a recurring characterization of the community as an "excellent place." These points indicate a welcoming environment and responsive administrative presence.

Facility descriptions are generally favorable: reviewers note the property is new and well-presented. There is some inconsistency in unit-size reports — several reviews describe units as spacious, but at least one reviewer explicitly reported small rooms. This mixed feedback suggests variability between specific units or differences in personal expectations about space. The positive impression from tours and the building’s newness are strengths, but prospective residents should confirm exact unit sizes during their visit to ensure they match individual needs.

Dining and daily living in this community appears to emphasize resident independence. Reviews indicate that residents prepare their own meals, which can be a positive feature for those who value autonomy and self-directed living. However, this also means the community may not provide full congregate dining or meal-service options that some residents or families might expect. For individuals who require or prefer on-site meal preparation or frequent dining services, this model could be a limitation, so it's important to verify what dining supports are available.

Activity offerings are present and varied: reviewers mention bingo, movies, arts and crafts sessions, and organized outings to museums and restaurants. These activities suggest an active social calendar with both on-site and off-site options. That said, the frequency of certain activities appears limited in the reviews — bingo was specifically called out as occurring only once or twice a month. While there is a mix of programming, prospective residents should ask for a current monthly activity calendar to assess whether the schedule meets their expectations for regular engagement.

Staffing and management impressions are a clear strength in the reviews. Front office and general staff are singled out as outstanding, helpful, and loving, which points to a caring and customer-focused culture at the facility. There are no explicit comments about clinical care levels or medical support in the provided summaries, so the positive staff feedback primarily reflects hospitality, responsiveness, and general resident support rather than specialized clinical services.

Notable patterns and recommendations: the reviews collectively paint Wrightwood as a well-maintained, new community with strong interpersonal staff qualities and a baseline of social programming. The main concerns to follow up on are the inconsistent comments about unit size and the resident-prepared-meal model — both of which may be important depending on a prospect’s mobility, cooking ability, or desire for meal services. Additionally, activity frequency for certain programs (e.g., bingo) may be lower than some would prefer. Prospective residents or families should schedule a thorough tour, confirm the exact floorplan and square footage of available units, request a sample activity calendar, and clarify dining and support service options to ensure the community aligns with their needs.

    About Wrightwood Senior Developments

Wrightwood Senior Developments sits in the Ashburn neighborhood of Chicago as an apartment community for seniors who want to live more independently, and while there aren't a lot of fancy details to mention, those who move here find a quiet setting with 85 apartment units, including studios, one-bedrooms, and some with dens, plus they have some accessible units, and there are a handful of two-bedroom units available too, so you can usually find something that fits your needs if you get through the waitlist that covers several other senior properties nearby. The building itself went up in 2010 and includes things like elevators for getting around, resident parking, plus a shuttle and transportation options, and while residents are responsible for their own gas, electric, and water bills, this place offers Project Based Voucher rental assistance for 17 units, so that can help with monthly costs for those who qualify, and the community focuses on serving people either 55 or 62 and older, with protections in place for both LGBTQ and voucher holders under federal law. Inside, you'll mostly find basic, senior-friendly apartments without a lot of frills, but there are common spaces, on-site socials, security, building maintenance, and a full-time concierge for support, and there's also a fitness center and spa open all day, which folks seem to enjoy, and with nearby transit lines and a walk score of 48, it makes it easier to get around the city if you need errands or want to visit friends. For those that need it, they offer independent living and some optional support services, helping with daily activities and medication if that becomes part of life, and if a resident's needs change, they adapt the help so people don't feel forced to move away from their home. Wrightwood Senior Developments also provides skilled nursing and memory care when it's required, with round-the-clock staff, specialized memory activities, and safe areas set up for those facing Alzheimer's or other types of dementia. There's a sense of community because staff encourage neighbors to get to know one another and keep busy with social activities, plus there are more practical things like security checks and maintenance covered by staff so residents don't have to worry about those chores. With a community review score around 7.5, it's not perfect but residents seem generally satisfied, and because there's a waitlist and an application fee, it's best to plan ahead if you're thinking of making this place home. Wrightwood offers affordable, no-frills living for healthier seniors who want some help but don't want to give up independence, and most services focus on safety, friendship, and keeping folks active and connected as long as possible.
