    Beautiful clean secure caring community

I moved here and feel at home - the facility is beautiful, clean, secure, and well maintained with sensible pandemic precautions. The staff (CNAs, nurses and admin) are consistently caring, professional and communicative, and there are plenty of activities, dining options and on-site services that make daily life easy. I'd recommend this community for families seeking attentive, compassionate care and a welcoming, active senior environment.

    Summary of reviews

Reviewers describe Eagle Ridge of Decatur as a facility with many operational strengths alongside a set of recurring operational concerns. Strengths most frequently cited include a caring, long‑tenured caregiving team and an active social calendar. The activities program is diverse and well‑used — examples cited include Wii bowling, bingo, music groups, cooking classes, themed meals, holiday and birthday events, trips, and partnerships with the local YMCA that provide transportation and programming. Common areas, recent renovations, and a range of on‑site amenities (beauty salon, laundry, convenience store, exercise room, library, courtyard) support a resident‑centered lifestyle and contribute to a social, engaged environment.

Dining and apartment features receive mixed but generally positive feedback. Many reviewers praise the food, noting multiple menu options and pleasant dining rooms; others describe repetition in menus and occasional issues with meal quality or odors. Apartments are described as roomy one‑bedroom units with kitchenettes, large closets, accessible bathrooms, and safety features such as call buttons — attributes that reviewers say support independence and emergency readiness. The facility’s proximity to the hospital and convenient location near family members are additional practical advantages.

Care quality and operational consistency are areas where experiences diverge. Several reviewers commend medication administration, vital‑sign monitoring, and communicative staff who update families. Conversely, there are concerning patterns related to sanitation in some resident units, delays in responding to continence and personal‑care needs, and inconsistent housekeeping or laundry turnaround. Those issues, together with reports of occasional lapses in responsiveness (including after‑hours access and locked doors), suggest variability in day‑to‑day execution of care and support services.

Management and communication also show mixed feedback. The on‑site administrator is often described as engaged and responsive, and some families note useful family‑communication tools. At the same time, others cite communication gaps (unreturned voicemails), uneven administrative professionalism, and unclear billing or charge handling. These inconsistencies point to areas where prospective residents and families should seek clarification during a tour.

Overall, Eagle Ridge presents as an active, amenity‑rich community with many staff who are described as warm and dedicated and with programming that keeps residents engaged. However, prospective residents and their families should specifically assess operational practices during visits — for example, ask about housekeeping schedules and laundry turnaround, incontinence‑care protocols and staffing levels (including after‑hours coverage), dining menu rotation and food‑safety practices, communication channels and voicemail response expectations, and billing procedures — to ensure the facility’s day‑to‑day practices match their priorities and risk tolerance.

    About Eagle Ridge of Decatur

Eagle Ridge of Decatur sits in a two-story building with 113 studio and one-bedroom apartments, and each has a kitchenette, a private bathroom with a walk-in shower, and an emergency response system, which makes it feel private and safe, and folks here often comment on how spacious everything is, so there's room for walking and gathering in different parts of the community. The facility offers both assisted living and supportive living options, so help is always available for things like bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and managing medications, plus certified staff are on-duty 24 hours a day every day, which reassures families and residents alike, and the health team can provide nursing assessments, medication administration, and ongoing health monitoring. When it comes to daily life at Eagle Ridge, meals are provided three times a day in a big dining area, and staff take care of laundry, linens, and housekeeping, so residents can focus on social programs, games, movies, or just chatting in the library or recreation room. The amenities include an arts and crafts area, a gym, television lounge, activity room, beauty and barber shop with on-site haircuts, a country store, common areas with cable and internet, free high-speed WiFi, scheduled transportation, and on-site parking for both guests and residents. Residents can use computer areas, play games during puzzle club meetings, attend church services, enjoy the gardens and patios, and even join in for game nights and community outings, which are scheduled to help everyone stay connected and active, and there's good attention to mental and social health with a calendar of events shaped to resident interests. There's a memory care program for folks living with Alzheimer's and dementia, as well as therapies like physical, occupational, speech therapy, and podiatry services, plus hospice support for those who need it. Pet owners will be glad to know some pets are allowed. The building is accessible and has dedicated recreation spaces, a convenience store, an exercise room, and a safe environment for older adults looking for independence and support, since the whole community is licensed by the state and managed by Gardant Management Solutions out of Kankakee, Illinois. Eagle Ridge of Decatur has a financial assistance program so more people can afford to live here, including those who might need support to stay independent but don't want a nursing home setting, and the staff takes pride in providing care with dignity, compassion, and respect. All-inclusive pricing means meals, utilities, housekeeping, laundry, and activities are bundled together. Folks aged 65 and older are welcome, and the community is open to residents of different income levels. Eagle Ridge received the 2021 Bronze Quality Award from the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living and was called "A Great Place to Work" in 2023. The facility encourages social engagement, independence, and personal choice, giving folks a place to live safely without giving up comfort or daily routines, and staff is always open for questions, room services, or planning visits for anyone interested in moving in or just learning more.
