    Mostly positive care, some issues

I moved my mom into Azpira and overall I'm very pleased - the community is beautiful, clean and well-maintained, rooms are generous, dining is generally excellent (chef-prepared), and there are lots of activities so residents stay engaged. Staff and nurses are caring, helpful, and accommodating most of the time, housekeeping is fantastic, and the place feels bright and homey. My main complaints are slow communication, occasional staffing/scheduling and medication hiccups, and a few staff who weren't as pleasant; it's also on the pricey side and there can be a long waitlist. Despite those issues, I would recommend Azpira for its safety, active community, and overall quality of care.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive: residents and families consistently praise Evolve at Lake Zurich for its clean, bright, hotel‑like environment, generous apartment sizes, and a warm, homey atmosphere. The community is described as small and intimate, which many reviewers appreciate because it supports friendships, personalized attention, and a non‑institutional feel. Housekeeping, maintenance, and common spaces (wide hallways, big bathrooms, party room, and movie room) are noted as well cared for, and many reviewers specifically call the facility beautiful and comfortable.

Staff and care quality emerge as the most frequently praised themes. Multiple reviews highlight compassionate, attentive, and long‑tenured employees who are resident‑focused and go above and beyond — nurses, CNAs, the Activities Director, and several individually named staff (e.g., Chef Mark, Mike Thill, Marti, Dima, Jeannie Speno, Rosemary, Pam) receive strong, specific commendations. Onsite nursing coverage during daytime hours seven days a week plus 24/7 NA coverage is viewed positively, and medication administration being included in pricing and routine monitoring (life alert pendants, four checks daily) are often cited as reassuring. Many families say their relatives adjusted well, participate actively, and enjoy personalized touches like birthday menus and celebrations.

Dining and activities are standout strengths. The community offers restaurant‑style dining with chef‑prepared meals, a varied menu, healthy portions, and notable desserts. Reviewers commonly praise the food quality and the dining experience, and several also point to a robust activities calendar—poker, bingo, movie nights, volleyball with balloons, trips to stores, Friday Happy Hour, live music, art, and onsite hair care—which helps create a lively social environment and strong resident engagement.

There are recurring operational and clinical limitations to be aware of. The community is still relatively new and in the process of filling (reports note 120+ units but only ~30 residents with many still moving in), and some services (the bistro) were not yet fully operational at the time of reviews. Several reviewers noted occasional delays in staff response, scheduling problems, and service logistics such as garbage collection timing and laundry turnarounds. Communication from management and corporate (Azpira) received mixed reviews—while many found staff responsive and helpful, others reported slow replies to family advocates, difficulty finding the right contact, concerns about medication‑plan communication, and unease following leadership changes (an executive director departure was specifically mentioned). A rent increase was also reported by at least one reviewer.

Clinical acuity limits are another pattern: multiple reviewers say Evolve is excellent for relatively healthy residents who need supportive living and social engagement, but less suitable for people with rapidly escalating medical needs. A few families experienced issues after falls or rapid health declines, noting that some staff were not comfortable managing oxygen therapy and that closer medical oversight and quicker medication change monitoring would be beneficial. Memory care is not provided on site, so residents with advanced dementia needs will need alternative arrangements. Initial move‑in weeks sometimes involved confusion and adjustment issues, though many families reported those resolved quickly as staff settled in.

In summary, Evolve at Lake Zurich is repeatedly recommended for older adults who want an active, clean, and socially engaging supportive living community with strong culinary offerings and a caring staff. Its strongest assets are the welcoming culture, proactive activities program, chef‑driven dining, and attentive frontline caregivers. Prospective residents with higher medical needs, complex oxygen or medication regimens, or those requiring memory care should carefully evaluate clinical capabilities and staffing patterns. Families should also ask about current occupancy, bistro hours, leadership stability, communication protocols, waitlist timing, and any recent changes in services or pricing when considering Evolve as an option.
