    Caring staff; pests, theft, unsafe

I loved living here and made many friends - the staff truly care, activities (bingo, movie night, bus service), laundry on every floor, dining and community rooms, and my one-bedroom felt comfortable; the building is HUD and in many ways well maintained. However, I also dealt with pests (bed bugs, roaches, mice) dirty carpets, poor management and I suspected owner mishandling of residents' money, outrageous rent, package/clothing thefts, cameras unused so no real security or storage, and I even heard reports of outside violent incidents.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is highly mixed, with clear and strong positives around staff, social life, and apartment amenities, set against very serious and recurring concerns about safety, pests, theft, and management. Multiple reviewers praise the human side of the community and many social features, while others raise urgent operational and safety issues that potential residents or their families would need to investigate further.

Care quality and staff: Several reviews emphasize that staff are excellent and genuinely care about seniors. This is a strong, repeated positive: residents felt supported and connected to staff, and some reviewers explicitly said they loved living there and made many friends. That suggests a level of person-centered interaction and community-building that is meaningful to residents and contributes to quality of life.

Facilities, apartments, dining, and activities: The property offers a number of useful physical amenities: one-bedroom apartments that include a living room, kitchen, and bathroom; a dining room; a community room; and laundry facilities on every floor. Organized activities such as bingo and movie night and regular bus/transportation service are noted and valued by residents. Some reviewers also cited outreach or communication with local businesses, indicating some level of community engagement or resource linkage. These features support socialization and convenience for residents.

Conflicting cleanliness reports and pest issues: Reviews present contradictory impressions on cleanliness. Some explicitly describe the facility as "very clean" and "well maintained," while others report dirty carpets and serious pest infestations — bed bugs, roaches, and mice. This split suggests inconsistent environmental control or variable conditions across units or time periods. Pest reports are particularly concerning because they indicate ongoing health and comfort risks that require immediate, professional remediation if accurate.

Safety, theft, and security: A significant cluster of negative reports centers on safety and security. Multiple reviewers mention package theft and clothing theft, and it is specifically noted that cameras are present but not actively used or monitored, with no on-site security staff. There is even an allegation of outsider murders; while the reviews do not provide context or details beyond the claim, the presence of such a report signals serious perceived safety problems for some residents. Taken together, these items point to systemic security gaps that undermine resident confidence and require administrative action (e.g., functioning surveillance, secured entry, storage solutions, and staff/security presence).

Management and financial concerns: Several reviews criticize management and ownership. Complaints include poor management practices and an allegation that the owner is "taking elderly money." Additionally, although the building is HUD-subsidized, some reviewers describe rent as "outrageous," indicating dissatisfaction with cost relative to services and conditions. These concerns about financial transparency and administrative competence compound the operational issues (pests, theft, security) and may explain why some residents have conflicting impressions of cleanliness and maintenance.

Patterns and implications: The reviews portray a facility with meaningful strengths in staff-resident relationships, social programming, and basic amenities, which have made the community a positive home for some residents. However, recurring and serious negatives — pest infestations, theft, security camera nonuse, lack of on-site security, dirty carpets for some, allegations of financial misconduct, and at least one report of violent crime — are substantial and potentially hazardous. The combination of interpersonal warmth and operational/safety failures creates a polarized resident experience: some people loved living there, while others experienced significant problems.

Recommendations based on patterns in these reviews: Prospective residents and family members should verify current conditions and management responses before making decisions. Key items to check in person or with management include: recent pest-control records and remediation plans; active and monitored security/camera systems; policies and evidence regarding theft prevention and incident response; clarity on rent and HUD subsidy status; availability of storage; and transparent financial practices and communication from ownership. For the operator, priority actions would be to address pest control immediately, activate and monitor cameras or add security personnel, improve theft-prevention measures, increase transparency on finances and rent, and address any management shortcomings to align the strong staff-resident relationships with safe, clean, and well-managed operations.
