    Spotless facility with caring staff

I moved my father here and couldn't be happier: the facility is beautiful, spotless (no nursing-home smell), and the food is excellent. The staff are genuinely caring, well-trained CNAs and nurses, and management/director are accessible and responsive-kept our family informed and supported us even through my dad's passing. It's a warm, family-like community; I highly recommend it and would gladly live there myself.

    Summary review

Across the collected review summaries, The Lamoine Assisted Living and Memory Care receives consistently strong positive feedback. Reviewers highlight a beautiful, welcoming facility with notably clean common areas and frequent sanitization; several comments explicitly state there is no typical 'nursing home' smell. The physical environment is described as inviting, and visitors and family members repeatedly characterize the place as one they themselves would consider moving into in the future.

Care quality emerges as a central strength. Many reviews emphasize attentive, compassionate care from CNAs and caregivers who are described as caring, loving, and family-like in their approach. Families report that staff provide personalized attention and focus on resident comfort and treatment. Multiple accounts note supportive, compassionate handling of sensitive situations, including being there for families during a parent's passing. Reviewers also praise the facility's intentional dementia training and in-depth staff education, which contributes to a positive impression of clinical competence and resident-centered care.

Staff and management receive frequent praise for accessibility, responsiveness, and communication. The administrator/director is noted as excellent and accessible; management is described as responsive, transparent, and collaborative with family members. Several summaries state that families were kept informed and involved in care decisions, which reinforces trust and satisfaction. Staff quality is consistently rated high, with many mentions of polite, friendly, and caring employees who foster a supportive atmosphere.

The social environment and activities are generally positive, with reports that residents make friends and that the community feels warm and family-oriented. Dining is singled out positively as 'great food.' However, there are a couple of recurring concerns: a few reviews mention challenges related to uncooperative residents — staff are described as doing everything they can in those situations — and at least one reviewer noted that their father was not involved in activities. These points suggest occasional variability in resident engagement and the practical difficulties of managing residents with resistance to care or participation.

Overall sentiment is strongly favorable: reviewers recommend the facility, describe smooth transitions for new residents, and highlight a desire to move there personally when the time comes. The dominant themes are cleanliness, compassionate and well-trained staff, good communication from management, and a welcoming atmosphere. The most notable areas to monitor are activity engagement for some residents and ongoing strategies for handling uncooperative behaviors; otherwise, reviews portray The Lamoine as a high-quality assisted living and memory care option with strong family-centric values and professional leadership.

About The Lamoine Assisted Living and Memory Care

The Lamoine Assisted Living and Memory Care sits in Macomb in the old historic hotel from the 1920s, with its tall ceilings, crown molding, fountain in the lobby, and lots of cozy chairs all around, so people feel right at home right away. Residents can choose from independent senior apartments, condos, townhomes, or assisted living apartments up on the fourth and fifth floors, which are separate from the memory care neighborhoods so that quieter, special support can happen for folks with Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and other types of dementia. The rooms have low-pile carpeting to help prevent trips, kitchenettes, living areas, walk-in showers, and safety features like two emergency call switches in every apartment, door alarms that notify staff right away, and medical alert systems like Medical Guardian and ADT Medical Alert. Staff includes Registered Nurses, LPNs, CNAs, and Health Aides, all trained to offer medical help in private suites, manage medicines, handle daily tasks, and help with things like bathing, diabetes care, or even incontinence, all while making sure folks can keep as much independence as possible.

There's memory care with specialized activities and individualized plans, plus support for aging in place, so people don't have to move if their needs change, including home care and caregiver support. For those who want to stay busy, the facility offers a movie theater, a chapel, billiards table, beauty salon and barber shop, grand piano, and an elegant dining room with lots of windows and a fireplace. There's a full calendar every week with arts and crafts, fitness classes, group outings, devotional services both onsite and off, and social times for everyone. People get three homemade, chef-prepared meals a day and have access to housekeeping and laundry, so they don't have to worry about chores, and small pets are welcome, which makes things feel even more like home.

Families like the safety features-the advanced door alarms, medication dispensers, walk-in tubs, home security, and the entire community designed to cut down on falls and wandering. There's occupational, speech, and physical therapy offered through Azer Clinic right onsite, with trained medical staff always available. The Lamoine also gives a special discount for veterans and their spouses, and offers free move-in within 50 miles of Macomb, which can make things a lot easier. There are luxurious shared spaces, like a private dining room for special occasions, a reflection room, and both independent and assisted living options for seniors who want more freedom or just a little extra help each day. Everything's planned to honor each person's dignity and independence, provide for every care need, and offer a safe, homelike environment filled with friendly faces and simple comforts.
