Bell Trace Health & Living sits on a quiet 15-acre campus at 725 N Bell Trace Circle in Bloomington, Indiana, where you'll see a mid-rise building with park-like trails winding around, and right there you've got all those trees, so when families come and go the place always seems inviting and calm, especially for folks looking for somewhere comfortable. The community is family-owned and runs with a family-first idea, so the staff tries to know everyone and treats each resident with respect and care, and you'll see a focus on personal attention and a strong commitment to health and wellness whether a person chooses independent living, assisted living, memory care, or the skilled nursing and rehabilitation programs. Bell Trace offers both private and semi-private apartments, which means whether someone needs their space or wants to live with a companion they've got a choice, and all the rooms come with housekeeping and laundry services, which is helpful for anyone who doesn't want to worry about those chores, and the staff includes licensed nurses right on site all day and night. Folks can get home-cooked meals in welcoming dining areas, and there are bistros, lounges, and even a salon and a theater where people gather for activities, whether it's one of those well-known art classes or various campus events. The staff offers transportation, so residents can get to appointments or outings, and there are fitness and recreation programs meant to help everyone stay active, heal, or simply have a good time. The community is close to Indiana University and has deep roots in the area, so it often feels connected to local life, and people who come here for rehabilitation can work to regain mobility or strength. There are options for folks who need long term care, short respite stays, adult day programs, or just want a safe and cozy place. Residents don't have to worry about security or service either, because staff are careful and always on site, and for families, this means one less thing to worry about as loved ones' needs change. The name Bell Trace Family-first Senior Living from CarDon shows their focus on community and connection, and the community even has a program called The Neighborhood for assisted living memory care at Altenheim. You won't find every amenity under the sun, but you will find a caring team, nice spaces, and several living options all in one place.

Warm community, but unsafe care
I had a mixed stay. I loved many staff-Stacey (and Sandra) were gentle, compassionate, and CNAs often went above and beyond; the bistro, activities, outings and warm community were real highlights. But I also experienced serious safety and communication lapses: ignored food allergies and mislabeled meals, delayed testing and dismissive medical response (led to UTI recurrence), lost items, missed calls for help, soiled bedding, unsafe transport and medication/discharge mix-ups. Because of those failures I can't fully recommend the place despite many caring employees.
