    Caring staff, beautiful facility, thriving

I placed my mom here and I'm very happy with the decision. The facility and grounds are beautiful and spotless, the faith-based atmosphere and gorgeous chapel are comforting, and the staff are consistently caring, friendly and professional. Halls are easy to navigate, safety and COVID protocols are strict, and my mom is thriving-only a few areas feel a bit outdated. I highly recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: Reviews of Hubbard Hill Retirement Community are overwhelmingly positive. The dominant themes across the summaries are cleanliness, friendliness and caring from staff, a beautiful and well-maintained physical environment, strong COVID-19 precautions, and a faith-based atmosphere that reviewers appreciate. Many reviewers use emphatic praise (phrases such as "best assisted living facility," "incredible living," and "heaven on earth") and several explicitly recommend the community.

Care quality: Multiple reviewers highlight "exceptional care," reporting that residents are happy and well looked after. Families note that their loved ones are content, and the repeated mention of "caring staff" and "helpful staff" supports a pattern of attentive day-to-day caregiving. The presence of good staff training and mentorship is mentioned, which aligns with the perception of consistent, competent care. There are only isolated notes of concern about staff performance (some reviewers saying staff "could be more on the ball"), suggesting occasional lapses rather than a widespread problem.

Staff and management: Staff are consistently described as friendly, supportive, and helpful. Reviewers frequently call out the staff by character — "very nice," "friendly," "supportive" — and several comments reference structured support like mentorship and training. Management practices that contribute to a safe environment are evident in the strict visitor protocols: temperature checks, health screening questions, and mandatory printed visitor name tags. These policies, and repeated comments about safety, indicate management prioritizes resident health and security.

Facility and environment: Physical attributes of Hubbard Hill receive strong praise. Reviewers repeatedly describe the facility as "very clean," "beautiful," and note attractive grounds and a "gorgeous chapel." The building is called "well kept," "easy to navigate," and free of unpleasant odors. These descriptions suggest good maintenance, strong housekeeping, and an environment that supports resident comfort and dignity. The combination of a beautiful chapel and characterizations of a faith-based atmosphere indicate spiritual life is a visible and valued component of the community.

Areas of concern and limitations of the reviews: Negative comments are sparse but noteworthy. The two recurring concerns are occasional staff inattentiveness (a few reviewers feel staff could be "more on the ball") and that some facilities or areas feel "outdated." These are limited in number compared with positive remarks, but they point to opportunities: addressing intermittent service responsiveness and planning targeted facility updates or refreshes. Also, reviews do not provide specific information about dining quality, activity programming, medical services beyond assisted living care, or pricing—so those areas cannot be assessed from the available summaries. While a "wonderful memorial" and faith-based references imply community events and spiritual supports exist, details about the breadth or frequency of activities are not provided.

Net recommendation and patterns: The overall pattern is very positive — high marks for cleanliness, aesthetics, safety protocols, and staff demeanor dominate the reviews. The community is frequently recommended by reviewers and described as a highly suitable and comforting place for elderly residents, especially for those seeking a faith-oriented setting. Prospective families should view Hubbard Hill as a strong candidate for assisted living when priorities include cleanliness, safety, a warm staff culture, and a beautiful, faith-supportive environment. If possible, visitors should ask during a tour about any areas slated for renovation and about measures management takes to ensure consistent staff responsiveness, since those are the only recurring caveats in an otherwise highly favorable set of reviews.

    About Hubbard Hill Retirement Community

Hubbard Hill Retirement Community sits on a peaceful 70-acre property in Elkhart, Indiana, where rolling paths, scenic ponds with fountains, covered verandas, and walking trails give residents plenty of space to enjoy the outdoors, and there's always a nice place to just sit and watch the seasons go by, and you can see a lot of folks fishing at the catch-and-release ponds or taking walks when the weather's nice. The community has several types of living arrangements, like independent living for active seniors who want a village atmosphere, assisted living with supportive staff in studio, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom apartments for folks aged 62 or older, and the Living Wisdom Center for memory care, which has secure areas and tailored programs for people with Alzheimer's or dementia, and all these spots are designed with safety features, emergency call systems, ramps, and easy-to-move layouts so everyone can get around without much trouble.

You'll find on-site services like long-term nursing care, short-term rehab, adult day care, outpatient therapy, medication help, physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and they make a point of offering care that covers all the stages of senior living, which means if needs change, people can usually stay right where they are. The Early Learning Center brings children and seniors together for activities, which gives a special feel to the place, and you often see residents chatting or reading with kids during the weekdays, while the Sailor Community Center has kitchens, a woodworking shop, an exercise room, indoor shuffleboard, and spots to gather and host community events, which keeps people connected and busy. Dining happens in two restaurant-style areas with green linens, white napkins, and fresh flowers, and meals are served by friendly staff, so everyone can enjoy home-like food without having to worry about cooking or cleanup. The property is pet-friendly, so folks can bring small animals, and there's always someone happy to help with personal care, laundry, housekeeping, or maintenance through the handy work order request system, which makes little fixes and chores get done quickly.

Each apartment has a private balcony or patio and a private bathroom, and the lounge, library with internet, chapel with seating for 150, and auditorium give lots of places to meet up or spend quiet time. There's a fitness center, plenty of volunteer or educational opportunities, and for those who like spiritual activities, the community hosts meditation, worship, and fellowship gatherings as well. Medical staff, including a skilled medical director and licensed nurses, oversee health care, while memory care has specialized wellness plans and keeps residents safe, especially those dealing with memory loss, and families know that care is individualized with the resident's needs in mind, as they use unique programs and specific names for different levels of care to make it all easier to understand. Residents can also use transportation for trips to places like Oaklawn Psychiatric Center, Walgreens pharmacy, Ricky's Taqueria, Starbucks, and First Baptist Church, which are all close by. Awards have recognized the campus for its design and amenities, and because Hubbard Hill is non-profit and locally owned, it focuses on providing comfortable, safe housing, and dependable, everyday support through an experienced team that treats people with respect, whether the stay is for rehab, long-term living, or memory care.
