    Excellent compassionate dementia-specific family care

I placed my father here and I couldn't be happier. The small, family-like, dementia-specific community is clean, secure, and staffed by trained, patient people who build relationships and give one-on-one, compassionate care. Director of Nursing Rosie Normand and nurses Natasha, Lisa and Patrick go above and beyond, with proactive text/photo updates and easy access to visit-giving me real peace of mind. Meals are good, it's non-smoking (e-cigs allowed), and I highly recommend it-my only gripe is one rude front-desk person.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: The reviews for Fairway Village are overwhelmingly positive, with a strong and consistent emphasis on compassionate, dementia-informed care delivered in a small, family-like setting. Most reviewers highlight the facility’s dementia-specific program and staff training in Alzheimer’s/dementia care as major strengths. Many families report that the staff are knowledgeable, patient, respectful, and build meaningful relationships with residents — treating them with dignity and as members of a family rather than just patients. There is repeated praise for proactive communication practices (frequent text updates and photos), which contribute to family members’ peace of mind and a high frequency of recommendations.

Care quality and staff: A dominant theme is the high quality of direct care. Reviewers repeatedly note attentive one-on-one interaction, medical attentiveness, safety focus, and staff who advocate for residents. Named staff members (Natasha, Lisa, Patrick) and the Director of Nursing (Rosie Normand) receive explicit praise, indicating strong, visible clinical leadership and hands-on nursing presence. Families emphasize that staff are easily available, keep them informed, and allow flexible visiting, which many describe as critical for trust. Multiple comments describe marked improvement for residents who moved from other facilities, citing restored dignity and better day-to-day care.

Communication and family involvement: Communication practices are a frequent positive point. Several reviewers mention quick, proactive updates by text and photo (for example brief “having a good day” messages), which fosters reassurance and transparency. The facility’s willingness to keep families informed and engage them routinely is an important contributor to the generally high satisfaction levels. Reviewers also refer to the staff’s ability to handle dementia behaviors compassionately, to accept residents without judgment, and to form strong bonds with families.

Facility, dining, and atmosphere: Many reviewers describe Fairway Village as clean, well-maintained, and pleasant, and comment favorably on the meals as tasty. The atmosphere is characterized as peaceful and welcoming, with meaningful resident interactions and activities such as happy hour and music that enhance residents’ quality of life. The small size of the community is repeatedly framed positively — enabling a more intimate, family-like environment and personalized attention.

Notable concerns and variability: Despite the predominately positive feedback, there are some significant negative and inconsistent reports that potential residents and families should consider. A minority of reviews report operational issues: lost clothing, improper bathing, mismatched socks, and complaints about poor rooms, bedding, and food. One reviewer described the facility as unorganized and unprofessional and alleged the facility took money without delivering proper care. These complaints stand in contrast to the many favorable reports and suggest occasional lapses in laundry, personal care, or housekeeping processes. There was also a specific complaint about rude front desk staff — the only notable recurring comment about attitude or reception services — which could signal an isolated staff-behavior or customer-service problem.

Other practical notes: A few reviewers mentioned location-related challenges (distance from Louisville for some families) which may affect visit frequency. The facility is described as non-smoking but some note that e-cigarettes are allowed; that policy may be a pro for some and a con for others depending on family preferences. A couple of reviewers appreciated or requested all-male accommodations; whether that is a feature or a desired expansion depends on family needs.

Overall assessment and recommendations: In aggregate, the reviews portray Fairway Village as a well-regarded, dementia-focused small community with strong clinical staff, excellent interpersonal care, and proactive family communication. The dominant pattern is one of trust, compassion, and high recommendation. However, the presence of a few serious operational complaints means prospective families should do targeted due diligence: tour the facility, meet nursing and front-desk staff, ask about laundry and bathing protocols, review incident/complaint resolution processes, and verify communication practices. Confirm specifics such as smoking/e-cigarette policies and distance/visitation logistics to ensure they match your family’s needs. Given the frequency of specific staff praise and the repeated emphasis on dementia expertise and family-oriented care, Fairway Village appears to be a strong option for those seeking specialized memory-care in a small, attentive community, provided the operational concerns are discussed and clarified during a visit.
