    Lovely modern apartment; rude staff.

I'm very happy with my beautiful, modern apartment-Susan, the apartment manager, was wonderful and even helped my daughter. The unit is very clean with in-unit laundry, tub grab bars, elevator, on-site gym, lots of activities, friendly residents and strong security; note this is not assisted living, so no meals or care services are provided. One downside: the phone intro was professional but some staff were rude, talked over me and rushed to put me on hold-they need customer-service training.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment from the reviews is largely positive about the physical environment, community life, and specific staff members, with a notable and repeated caveat around customer-service experiences on the phone and the absence of assisted-living services. Multiple reviewers praise the apartments and building amenities and describe the property as very clean and pleasant. At the same time, one or more reviewers reported a negative phone interaction that involved being talked over, rushed, and placed on hold — indicating inconsistent front-line customer service that may need attention.

Facilities and living units: Reviews consistently highlight the apartment quality and building amenities. Apartments are described as beautiful and modern, featuring in-unit laundry and safety-minded touches such as grab bars in the tub. Building amenities called out include an on-site gym, elevator access, and strong security. Cleanliness is remarked on positively (“very nice, very clean”), which supports an impression of well-maintained common areas and residences.

Activities and community: The property appears active socially — reviewers mention lots of activities and friendly residents, suggesting a lively community environment suited to independent living. The presence of numerous activities and amiable neighbors is a clear positive for prospective residents seeking social engagement and an active lifestyle within the community.

Staff and management: Feedback about staff is mixed but specific. The apartment manager, Susan, receives direct praise for being wonderful and helpful to a family member, indicating strong on-site management and personal attention in at least some interactions. Conversely, telephone/front-office interactions are described as problematic by at least one reviewer: a professional phone introduction was noted, but subsequent behavior included rudeness, talking over the caller, rushing, and putting the caller on hold. These comments point to inconsistency in staff professionalism — strong in-person management (Susan) but potential gaps in front-line customer service that could reflect training needs or personnel issues.

Care, dining, and services: A clear and important pattern is that this community is not an assisted living facility and does not provide meals or assisted-living services. Reviewers explicitly note that no meals or services are provided. This is a crucial factual point for prospective residents: the property appears to be oriented toward independent living rather than providing personal care, medication management, or meal services. Those who require assisted-care services should not expect them here.

Notable patterns and concerns: The most significant strengths are tangible — quality apartments, modern features, on-site amenities, cleanliness, security, and an active, friendly resident base. The most significant concerns are twofold: first, the absence of meals and assisted-living services which limits suitability for people needing such care; second, inconsistent customer-service experiences on the phone, including at least one strong complaint about rude and rushed behavior. Together these patterns suggest that while the community is attractive for independent seniors who value amenities and a social environment, anyone evaluating this property should confirm service offerings and, if possible, assess staff interactions both in person and by phone to ensure expectations for professionalism and responsiveness are met.

    About One Penrose Place

One Penrose Place is a three-story senior community built for adults aged 55 and older and you'll find it has 45 apartment homes with open floor plans, including both one-bedroom and two-bedroom options, and every apartment offers a full-size front-loading washer and dryer, laminate hardwood floors, stainless steel kitchen appliances, spacious kitchens, walk-in closets, carpeted bedrooms, and plenty of storage space like coat closets, linen closets, pantries, and laundry rooms, so you don't have to worry about finding a spot for your things, and while the building is smoke-free and environmentally friendly, you'll find that cats and dogs are welcome, making it a good fit for pet owners. You can take the elevator to any of the three levels, and there's a controlled access entry to keep the building secure. The private bathrooms have grab bars and accessible showers, with some offering tubs for soaking, and the building's designed for easy use with wheelchair-friendly features throughout. If you want to keep busy, there's a small gym with basic fitness equipment like treadmills and weights, a movie theater room with leather seats for film nights, an office area with computers and a copier, and comfortable common lounges with leather couches and accent chairs where neighbors often gather. One Penrose Place sits close to four places of worship and several theaters so folks can find spiritual and cultural activities nearby, and there are parks within walking distance for fresh air or a peaceful walk, and when you want to eat out, you've got four cafes and seventeen different restaurants not far away, plus the community has a picnic area for casual outdoor meals. It doesn't offer meal plans or help with personal care for healthy adults, but it does provide assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and respite care for short-term needs, which means residents who need regular support with daily activities, medication, or Alzheimer's care can get specialized help; there's 24-hour support for those staying in memory care, and nursing staff are available for things like wound care, rehabilitation, and medical attention. The place holds activities like game nights, bible study, and birthday parties every month so residents can make friends, and the whole building has a friendly atmosphere because the management and neighbors are welcoming, and they keep things in good shape with on-site staff and 24-hour emergency maintenance. High-speed internet is available, there are computers residents can use, and detached garages on site offer extra parking if you need it. One Penrose Place doesn't try to be fancy but covers the basics for seniors who want a comfortable, safe place to live with options for more help if ever needed.
