    Compassionate staff, dishonest management, unsanitary

I had mixed feelings. The front-line staff-CNAs, nurses, housekeeping, dietary, activities and physicians-were often kind, attentive and compassionate and helped my mother get home, but management was unprofessional and dishonest about paperwork. The facility suffered from dirty floors, a horrible odor, unsafe elevator, inconsistent nursing skill/compassion and poor COVID/staffing practices, so I cannot recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment toward this Miller's Merry Manor location is strongly mixed and highly polarized. Multiple reviewers offer detailed praise for staff and care, describing the team as compassionate, skilled, and attentive across virtually every department — nursing/CNAs, housekeeping, maintenance, dietary, reception, activities, and even physician and corporate contacts. Several comments emphasize a family-like, homey environment and cite concrete, personal caregiving gestures (for example, Head of Nursing bedside presence, hair brushing, and affectionate gestures) that contributed to health stability and positive outcomes such as a successful discharge home. Dietary and activities staff are explicitly mentioned among the departments receiving appreciation, and some reviewers credit the facility with providing the support needed for improvement and gratitude for the care provided.

At the same time, there is a clear cluster of strongly negative reports that describe markedly different experiences. These negatives include claims of unprofessional management behavior (including alleged dishonesty about paperwork), cleanliness problems such as dirty floors and an unpleasant odor upon entry, and at least one reported unsafe elevator. Several reviewers express concerns about nursing skill and compassion, with descriptions ranging from nurses lacking skill to outright statements of 'terrible staff' and 'no compassion.' Staffing quality and consistency is a recurring concern in negative reviews — reviewers state there is a lack of quality staffing that undermines confidence in care.

Safety and infection-control issues are highlighted in multiple summaries. Poor COVID guidelines are explicitly mentioned, indicating that at least some reviewers felt the facility's pandemic response was inadequate. Combined with reports of staffing shortfalls and cleanliness issues, these comments raise red flags for prospective residents and families who prioritize infection control and reliable staffing.

Management and administration emerge as a particularly mixed theme. Some reviewers call out a professional management team and corporate involvement that appears supportive, while others report unprofessional conduct and dishonesty in administrative processes. This contradiction suggests inconsistency in administrative performance or differences in experiences depending on timing, staff on duty, or who the reviewer interacted with.

Taken together, the reviews point to a facility capable of delivering high-quality, compassionate care when staffed and managed well, but also vulnerable to significant lapses that materially affect resident experience. The most consistently praised aspects are the front-line caregiving roles and the personal, family-like attention given by specific staff members, including leadership in nursing. The most serious concerns are inconsistencies: variable management conduct, occasional poor cleanliness and odors, an unsafe elevator report, poor pandemic protocols, and reports of nurses lacking skills. These divergent accounts produce a polarized overall picture: for some families the facility is caring and effective; for others it is unreliable and problematic.

For readers evaluating this location, the pattern suggests it would be important to verify current staffing levels, inspect cleanliness and safety features in person (including elevators), ask specific questions about infection-control procedures, and request details about administrative processes and paperwork handling. Given the variability in reviews, firsthand observations and targeted questions to management are likely to give the clearest sense of whether this particular Miller's Merry Manor will provide the compassionate, consistent care described by many reviewers or reflect the more troubling experiences cited by others.
