    Beautiful facility, great therapy, concerns

I've been very impressed overall: beautiful, updated facility and grounds, spotless rooms and common areas, and excellent rehab/therapy. The staff and nurses are kind, respectful, and often go above and beyond-robust activities, salon, gardens, and furnished rooms make visits enjoyable. Meals are generally good though sometimes cold; front-desk hours and communication have caused incidents, and I've heard concerning reports about memory-unit staff behavior and occasional lapses in personal care. I recommend it for safety, cleanliness, and therapy, but advise families to watch communication and memory-unit staffing.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in these reviews is strongly positive but not uniformly so. The most consistent strengths noted across reviewers are Mulberry Health’s rehabilitation and therapy services, cleanliness and updated appearance of the facility, and the compassion and responsiveness of nursing staff and CNAs. Multiple reviewers singled out physical and occupational therapy as a standout service (including twice-daily therapy sessions), and several mentioned that therapy staff actively engage families in exercise and recovery. The facility receives many professional referrals and repeated personal recommendations, and several comments emphasize strong staff retention and long-tenured employees—factors that contribute to continuity of care and institutional knowledge.

Facilities and amenities are another repeatedly praised area. Reviewers describe newly updated buildings, very clean hallways and activity rooms, pleasant landscaping, solariums and gardens, beauty shop, exercise rooms, game rooms, and a variety of accommodation options (cottages, apartment-style layouts, private rooms, two-bedroom units, and rooms with kitchenettes). Recreational programming is robust: games, puzzles, musical concerts, piano sing-alongs, gardening, and regular activities were frequently mentioned as promoting resident engagement. Visitors and families often note a pleasant atmosphere and say the environment is well-maintained and attractive.

Staff performance is a clear overall strength, with many reviewers describing staff as friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and going “above and beyond.” A number of individual staff members are called out by name for exceptional care and warmth, reflecting positively on the team. Night-shift nurses and specific employees (e.g., Ashley Miller/Ashley P., Kristen) are cited for compassionate, attentive behavior, and reviewers point to specific examples (bringing extra blankets, hair clips, personal attention) that illustrate individualized care.

However, there are non-trivial and recurring concerns that prospective residents and families should weigh alongside the positives. A minority of reviews describe serious lapses in personal care and housekeeping: examples include residents not being bathed, teeth not cleaned, wearing the same clothes for extended periods, rooms not cleaned for weeks, and missing clothing or laundry issues. These reports are serious and suggest potential breakdowns in daily care routines or laundry/property tracking. Several reviewers explicitly referenced communication gaps and incidents that appeared to stem from poor information flow or coordination among staff.

Workplace culture and consistency in operations also appear mixed. While many reviews praise staff morale and long-tenured employees, others report bullying of new employees, mistreatment among staff, and a decline in trust from some family members. Administrative or logistical issues are mentioned as well: inconsistent front desk hours, limited on-site food options outside regular meal service, and at least one comment describing a cook as passive-aggressive. Meal quality receives praise from many reviewers (some call the kitchen “awesome”), but a few note average food or cold meals, indicating variability. Cost was mentioned as high by at least one reviewer, and geographic access is a factor: the facility is convenient for some (easy access from Lafayette) but a long drive for other families.

Taken together, the pattern is of a facility with a strong reputation—particularly for rehabilitation, cleanliness, and resident activities—backed by many satisfied families and professional referrals. Those strengths are undercut in a minority of reports by serious micro-level failures in personal care, housekeeping, communication, and staff culture that can materially affect resident well-being. Because the negative reports are relatively limited but significant in nature, families should consider the overwhelmingly positive trends while also proactively asking about specific operational safeguards: laundry and personal property protocols, daily hygiene routines, staffing levels and turnover, incident reporting and resolution processes, and front-desk/service-hour coverage. A personal tour that includes speaking directly with therapy leaders, nursing management, and current families—plus reviewing recent inspection/complaint records—would help verify that the facility’s strong rehabilitation, cleanliness, and activities program align with consistently reliable daily personal care and administrative practices.

In summary, Mulberry Health is frequently described as a clean, attractive, and well-staffed facility with excellent rehab and purposeful activities that promote engagement and recovery. Many reviewers highly recommend it and highlight compassionate staff and specialized therapy as standout features. Still, there are important, documented concerns around occasional lapses in basic personal care, laundry/room cleaning inconsistencies, communication gaps, and isolated reports of staff mistreatment. Those issues warrant direct inquiry during tours and reference checks to ensure the facility’s high-level strengths are matched by consistent day-to-day execution for any prospective resident.
