    Caring rehab with minor hiccups

I toured and stayed at Avalon Springs and found the staff consistently kind and attentive, CNAs and nurses phenomenal, therapy excellent, dining tasty and well-presented, activities lively, and the building very clean and attractive with a solid small memory-care unit. Communication and admissions were usually helpful and leadership involved, and my room and the grounds were well kept. My only caveats: I saw intermittent staffing/management issues, slower phone/response times at moments, some billing/insurance/visiting restrictions and a few isolated care lapses mentioned by others. Overall I would recommend Avalon Springs for caring, rehabilitation-focused care, but go in aware of potential administrative or responsiveness hiccups.

    About Avalon Springs Health Campus

Avalon Springs Health Campus sits at 2400 Silhavy Rd in Valparaiso, Indiana, and offers a mix of senior living choices with support for different care needs on one campus, so you really do see a blend of independent living, assisted living, memory care for those with Alzheimer's or dementia, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and other support including respite and home care. The place works to keep life active and full of routine, with fitness centers, a salon, a library, places to play games, and even a spot to eat in a restaurant-style dining room, so you always see folks getting together for meals or joining in activities from their Life Enrichment calendar, which means there's always something going on, whether it's adventure-themed programs, educational events, or social gatherings so people can make friends and keep busy. The food's served up three times a day, made from good, fresh ingredients, and there's a focus on wellness and nutrition for everyone. The staff, which includes nurses and certified nursing assistants, brings a caring approach, though people have mentioned worries about there being enough staff during some shifts, but in general, help's available for things like medication, bathing, and getting dressed, plus there's medical and nursing care onsite if someone needs rehab after a hospital stay or ongoing support for diabetes or incontinence. The memory care unit's designed to be both safe and welcoming, with unique care plans and monitored spaces, and social workers are around if anyone needs help navigating decisions or planning ahead. The rooms come fully furnished if you want, and they're pet-friendly, with cozy spaces and handicap-accessible features so the folks living there can have as much comfort and independence as possible. There's also Wi-Fi throughout the campus, and everyone's encouraged to stay involved, whether they enjoy group games, quiet time with a book, or staying strong in the gym. Avalon Springs is part of Trilogy Health Services, so they use some of their own special programs and resources-from planning tools for families to caregiver guides-and they try to treat each resident like family, focusing on personalized service. The community aims to be an affordable and practical alternative for seniors who'd rather have some companionship and care instead of living alone at home, so it's become a choice for many local families who want their loved ones in a place with both care and a sense of belonging.
