    Caring staff, clean, active community

I live here and love it - the staff are caring, respectful, sober and quick to help, always going out of their way for residents and families. Laundry is always on time, housekeeping and meals are well managed, and there are plenty of activities (bingo, back-patio barbecues), transportation to appointments, and a home-like atmosphere; it's a great place to live, work, and make friends.

    About Montgomery Place

Montgomery Place sits at 614 S 8th St in Independence, KS, and serves seniors needing different kinds of care, so folks will find independent living, assisted living, memory care for those with Alzheimer's or dementia, skilled nursing, and short-term rehab all together, and while the building itself is an apartment community, there isn't much known about the inside features, but what's clear is residents have what they need. The place is open all day and night, offers help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, and medicine, and supports everyone from those who live on their own to people who need ongoing nursing or memory support, and the team running it is both local and private, with awards for being kind and helpful, which many say makes a real difference for residents who want a warm, familiar place to call home. There's an exercise center for folks wanting to stay strong and social, plus a long list of activities like fitness classes, outings, and meditation, so people have something to do if they want it, and for those preferring to take it easy, there are beauty salons, social rooms, and secure patios with nice views, which makes it pleasant to spend time outside or gather with friends. Food is taken seriously here, with made-to-order meals every day, restaurant-style dining at lunch and supper, and a breakfast service ready early in the morning, from six to nine, all of it made with fresh ingredients, so residents don't have to worry about eating well or enjoying the company in shared dining rooms. The facility's built with handicap access in mind, so moving around isn't a problem for those with mobility challenges, and families don't have to worry about wandering, since safety for seniors with memory concerns is part of the design. Skilled nursing beds are available-there are forty-three of them-and health support ranges from hospital-to-home help, in-home and virtual health monitoring, to long-term skilled care and palliative or hospice support, all of which means it can fit changing needs as people age or face medical problems. For folks coming from a hospital or recovering at home, programs like Rehab-to-Home and Americare Therapy Solutions help with physical, occupational, or speech therapy, so recovery and return home is as smooth as possible, or people can get ongoing help for chronic or acute issues. Staff coordinate personal care plans for everyone, so needs are met, and there's a sense of stability, whether it's a short or long stay. Spacious floor plans, engaging activities, and a nurturing team that stays joyful and kind stand out most for families who visit, since residents socialize, eat together, and feel part of a real community, whether living independently or needing a little-or a lot-of extra care.
