    Attentive staff, clean facility; concerns

I placed my mom here and it's been the best decision - the nurses, CNAs, med-aides and kitchen staff are kind, proactive and truly attentive, and administration is responsive. The buildings and grounds are clean, attractive and well-maintained, dining is flexible, there are on-site duplexes and lots of activities that make it feel safe and homey. One caveat: recent leadership changes (new director and DON) have been troubling and we've raised concerns with the state, but overall residents are happy and well cared for.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in these reviews is strongly positive with repeated emphasis on compassionate, hands-on caregiving and clean, well-maintained living spaces. Many reviewers highlight that staff are kind, caring, and attentive — from nurses and CNAs to medication aides and kitchen personnel — and that residents feel loved and well cared for. Multiple families report very positive outcomes (for example, a family member stating their grandmother considers it the best decision), and several reviewers describe the environment as homey, safe, and fun, with active social programming and regular daily check-ins that reinforce a sense of attentiveness and connection.

Facilities and physical layout receive consistent praise. The community is described as clean and attractive, with well-kept grounds and right-sized houses that feel accessible. Reviewers mention an on-site duplex option and that some housing is walkable to the main building for meals, which supports resident independence and convenience. Dining is noted as flexible and resident-focused; reviewers call out a menu-order option and supportive kitchen staff who contribute to resident satisfaction. Overall the physical plant and dining experience are presented as strengths that complement the quality of care.

Staff quality and responsiveness are recurring themes: nursing staff, CNAs, med aides, and kitchen employees are repeatedly described as positive, supportive, and responsive to resident needs. Several reviews specifically praise the administration and responsiveness of leadership, and some families report routine communication such as daily calls, which indicates effective family engagement practices. Activities programming is also highlighted as a meaningful element of daily life, with reviewers noting lots of fun activities and a generally happy atmosphere.

However, a notable pattern of concern emerges around management changes. While older leadership (a previous director and director of nursing) is described as 'awesome' by at least one reviewer, other comments report that newer leadership (new director and DON) have been 'nasty and manipulative' and that complaints have been filed with the state. There are also remarks suggesting owners may be emphasizing revenue ("seeking more money"), which some reviewers view negatively. These comments introduce a significant caveat: while day-to-day caregiving and the physical environment are praised, recent administrative turnover and alleged problematic leadership behavior have created worry for some families.

Other practical concerns are limited but worth noting: parking issues were mentioned and may affect visitors and families. Most reviews did not list negatives beyond the management and parking items, and several reviews explicitly stated no negatives were observed.

In summary, Carrington Place Senior Living is consistently described as a caring, clean, and well-maintained community with strong caregiving staff, responsive frontline employees, flexible dining, and engaging activities that produce positive family outcomes. The primary area to investigate further is recent leadership turnover and associated complaints; prospective residents and families should ask about current management stability, any resolved or open complaints with state regulators, and how administration is addressing family concerns. Additionally, confirm parking arrangements during visits. If the current leadership issues are resolved or addressed, the community's many strengths in care, facilities, and programming make it a compelling option according to these reviews.

    About Carrington Place Senior Living

Carrington Place Senior Living sits in Pittsburg, KS, and covers many different care needs for older adults. The building offers Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, Skilled Nursing, Continuing Care Retirement Community features, and even options for those who just need a bit of help after an operation or injury with things like Respite Care and Rehabilitation. There's Adult Daylight Programs for older adults that need daytime care and social activities, home health solutions for those wanting extra help in their own suite, and hospice care for those who need support at the end of life. Residents can find private apartments, communal areas, and floor plans built with easy movement in mind. People living with Alzheimer's disease or dementia can get special services in the Memory Care neighborhood. The staff, called Care Partners and the Caregiver Team, stay on hand around the clock and handle everything from help with meals and medicine to more involved nursing and therapy, always trying to show what they call Hometown Hospitality™ in every part of their work. Carrington Place belongs to the Americare community network and remains both privately owned and locally run, which adds to its home-like feel. There's a lot of activity going on, with social, educational, and entertaining events planned to keep everyone's mind, body, and spirits active, plus extra support for those coming out of hospitals with rehab and therapy including physical, occupational, and speech therapy. The community lets residents decorate their rooms with their own furnishings, and offers Independent Living homes that stay maintenance-free for those who still want to keep active and do things for themselves. The staff focuses on making sure everyone feels comfortable, supported, and engaged, whether someone needs round-the-clock medical care or only a little help every now and then, and the place has earned a 5.0 rating from 6 reviews, which says folks seem pretty happy there. They also use something called a Community Score system to help families decide what's best for their older loved ones, which is handy and a little different from what some other places might do, and while there was a recent glitch with their server and some information wasn't available, the facility itself keeps up its usual daily programs, meals, and care for all its residents.
