    Clean, safe, caring community here

I've been very happy at Parkwood - clean, safe, well-kept apartments in a beautiful location with a warm, family-like atmosphere. The staff are outstanding: friendly, caring, proactive with family communication and COVID precautions, and quick to resolve issues or help after hospital stays. There's a lively social calendar, frequent outings, and lots of neighbors to visit so I feel engaged rather than lonely. Meals offer good variety and accommodate diets (minor room for improvement), but overall the care, value, and peace of mind make this my highly recommended home.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews for Parkwood Village is strongly positive. Reviewers repeatedly highlight the staff as a core strength — described as friendly, welcoming, caring, and professional. Families and residents emphasize attentive caregiving, proactive communication with families, and staff members who go out of their way to accommodate needs. Many comments point to long staff tenure and consistent staffing, which contributes to continuity of care and strong relationships (maintenance staff and caregivers knowing residents personally is mentioned specifically). The management team is repeatedly characterized as professional and effective at solving problems promptly.

Care quality and safety are prominent themes. Multiple reviews mention on-duty nurses, effective medical attention, and an ability to manage health events, including readmissions after hospitalization. Reviewers praise proactive illness and outbreak protocols (notably mask policies and strong COVID protection) and credit the community with minimizing cases and responding quickly when issues arise. Memory care and assisted living outcomes are described as positive, with residents “thriving” and aging with dignity. The balance between independence and monitoring is noted — residents have freedom to come and go while families appreciate the peace of mind provided by supervision and medical support.

Facility and maintenance receive consistent praise. The community is described as very clean or spotless, well-kept, and beautiful with thoughtfully designed assisted living areas. Maintenance staff are responsive and courteous. Apartment options and communal spaces are appreciated — reviews cite studios through two-bedroom apartments, spacious units in many cases, and a homelike environment. The grounds and location are mentioned positively and many residents feel lucky with the setting.

Dining and food service are generally viewed favorably, with repeated mentions of good variety, family-style dining, and the kitchen’s willingness to accommodate dietary restrictions. Several reviewers explicitly call the food “really good” or “great,” and note that staff remind residents about meals. A minority of reviews suggest there is room for slight improvement in food quality or that meals could be better, so while dining is largely a strength, expectations vary.

Activities, social life, and community engagement are major benefits cited by reviewers. Parkwood Village is frequently described as active and engaging, offering many events, outings (art barn visits and resident outings), Bingo, exercise, and other programming that alleviates loneliness and fosters friendships. The social dining environment and celebrations that honor residents’ unique qualities are highlighted. Transportation to appointments and flexible scheduling add convenience and support an active lifestyle.

Value and practical considerations: many reviewers comment that the pricing is very good or reasonable for the level of service provided; however, at least one review labeled the community as expensive, and there is mention of a waiting list due to popularity. Move-in experiences are mostly positive, with accounts of quick move-ins and helpful staff; one area for improvement that emerges is the onboarding process — a few reviewers would have liked a more thorough initial orientation or rundown when they arrived.

Patterns of critique are minimal and generally isolated. The main concerns are occasional small rooms, a few comments calling cost a downside, intermittent stress during illness periods (largely tied to the pandemic), and sporadic minor issues that were typically resolved quickly. Overall, reviews convey high satisfaction and frequent recommendations: residents and families express peace of mind, describe Parkwood Village as a caring, secure, and well-run community, and many state they would highly recommend it or consider the move a very good decision.

    About Parkwood Village

Parkwood Village sits on a pretty campus in Pratt, where big windows let in lots of daylight, there's plenty of green space, and it always feels calm and comfortable, so folks can gather in cozy rooms with fireplaces, visit the library, or just sit out in the courtyard among the landscaping, and they always seem to have a nice mix of places to relax or catch up with others. The community offers several care options, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and respite care, all on the same two-story building, so folks don't have to leave if their needs change over time. People can choose from studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments, and deluxe suites, and these places have kitchens or kitchenettes, private bathrooms, roomy closets, and emergency call systems, along with cable or satellite TV. Residents can bring pets, invite overnight guests, and even let others park nearby, which helps everyone feel more at home.

Staff at Parkwood Village care for those who need help with everyday things like bathing, dressing, housekeeping, and medication, and they're trained to provide specialized support for people living with Alzheimer's or other dementias, especially through the Reflections Program, where there's both group support and private planning for each person's needs. There's a part-time nurse, skilled nursing, and meal help for special diets, plus medication reminders. The community's always got someone on site, 24 hours a day, so help is there if anyone needs it, even in the middle of the night, and the whole place has strong safety features like a sprinkler and fire detection system.

Activities stand out at Parkwood Village, since they've got an activity calendar packed with games, fitness, local shopping trips, outings, crafts, music, and book clubs, and it seems like every week there's something different for folks to try if they want some company or just a change of routine, even things like gardening, educational talks, and religious services. Meal times work more like dining in a restaurant, with Gold Leaf Dining using crystal glassware and linens, along with menus that can be tailored for special diets, and they offer home sale help and financial advice to families trying to figure out the costs. Parkwood Village also has computer classes, salon and barber services, and a game room, with all the cleaning and laundry handled by staff, so residents can focus on their own interests. Transportation's available for errands and trips off campus, and the wellness program includes exercise, educational opportunities, and group activities, which helps everyone keep moving and stay engaged.

The place values every individual, making personal care plans for each resident, and provides regular updates and health protocols during health events. They host regular support group meetings, like the dementia caregiver group scheduled for May 8, 2025, so families can get advice and support, and there's lots of help with VA benefits if someone's a veteran. The owner, Legend Senior Living, runs the community with values that are centered on caring and respect, aiming to put residents' needs first, and the place is always clean and well-maintained, with staff known for being kind and helpful. All in all, Parkwood Village tries to support independence and dignity while giving folks choices in a home that's easy to settle into, with plenty to do, safe surroundings, and care set up for different needs as folks age.
