    Caring staff but communication issues

I appreciate the individualized, caring attention my mother receives - staff work hard, help with PT, and the activities have given her new friends in a small, family-like, well-maintained local home with private outdoor space. The kitchen is accommodating and many rooms are homely with good lighting. That said, some rooms are dark or have unpleasant smells, and dementia/aggressive residents can compromise dining privacy. Communication around visitation, consent, and family access has been frustrating - I want easier family visits and clearer room/name posting. Accessibility is also an issue (side entry with no automatic door).

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews for Crestview Manor Nursing Home is mixed but centers on a small, close-knit facility that provides individualized care and a homely atmosphere for many residents while also showing notable areas of concern for other families. Multiple reviewers praised the small size and family-like environment, saying staff are hardworking, dedicated, and in many cases extremely friendly and accommodating. Several accounts highlight individualized attention, assistance with physical therapy, private rooms, an accommodating kitchen, private outdoor areas, and active social programming that helps residents form new friendships.

Care quality and staff behavior emerge as central themes with both positive and negative notes. Positive comments emphasize caring nurses and aides, owner/administrator involvement, and staff who go above and beyond to help residents settle and socialize. However, other reviewers reported inconsistent behavior from staff—some described certain employees as unwelcoming or dismissive—and at least one reviewer said staff were only "friendly enough," indicating variability in interpersonal interactions. This split suggests that while many families experience strong, personalized care, others have encountered staff conduct that undermines trust and satisfaction.

Facility conditions and the physical environment also elicited mixed reactions. Several reviewers said the home is clean, well maintained, pleasantly scented, and furnished in a way that yields comfortable, well-lit rooms with varied decor. Conversely, other reviewers described parts of the building as older, not the newest facility, with some rooms that feel dark or gloomy and in a few cases unpleasant odors. Accessibility is another specific physical concern: access through a side entry without an automatic door was noted as problematic. Overall, the facility appears to be modest and local—contributing to the small-town, family-like feel—but not uniformly modern or accessible.

Dining, activities, and community life are described positively by reviewers who enjoy social time and well-run activities. The kitchen is repeatedly characterized as accommodating. However, reviewers also raised concerns about the presence of residents with dementia, and a few noted aggressive behavior among some residents that negatively affects dining privacy and the overall atmosphere during meals. One reviewer mentioned a resident not being comfortable with enforced social interaction, illustrating that the social environment may not suit every individual equally.

Family engagement, privacy, and communication are recurring concerns among detractors. Some reviewers asked for clearer processes to allow family visitation and expressed worry about privacy and consent—specifically requests to permit families to see residents and suggestions to post residents' names to improve transparency. These comments point to perceived gaps in family communication and access that have left some relatives feeling disconnected or excluded.

In summary, Crestview Manor is frequently described as a small, caring, community-oriented nursing home with personalized attention, helpful therapy support, and friendly staff who foster a family-like atmosphere and social opportunities. At the same time, there are consistent caveats: staff interactions are experienced as inconsistent by different families; the building is older and has some accessibility and odor/lighting issues in parts; and the presence of dementia and occasionally aggressive residents can compromise dining privacy and comfort for some. Families considering Crestview Manor should weigh the benefits of individualized care and the small-community environment against these reported variability issues in staffing, facility condition, visitation practices, and the degree to which the social environment will fit a particular resident's needs.
