    Clean bright home-like affordable facility

I lived at this small, affordable, home-like facility and was very impressed: the building is clean and bright, rooms are private with bathrooms and closets, staff are kind and compassionate, and the food is excellent. It's nicer than most, newly updated with ongoing improvements, and I would recommend it (they also have a sister site, Marys Senior Center). My only complaints were limited activities, being misled on a couple items, and I eventually had to leave because of illness.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews for Modern Living Assisted Living for Seniors is predominantly positive, with multiple reviewers praising the facility's cleanliness, home-like atmosphere, and physical accommodations. The facility is described repeatedly as clean and nicer than most places, with several mentions of private rooms that include private bathrooms and closets. Many reviewers noted that rooms are attractive or lovely and that residents are allowed to bring personal items from home, which contributes to a comfortable, individualized living environment. Reviewers also point to the facility being brand new or undergoing ongoing improvements, reinforcing the impression of a modern, well-kept building.

Care quality is a frequently mentioned theme and is reported inconsistently across reviews. Several comments describe the care as good, excellent, top notch, and compassionate, with strong recommendations from people who were satisfied. Conversely, at least one review explicitly states that care was lacking and mentions a hospital transfer, and another review notes that someone left due to illness. These mixed reports suggest that while many residents and families experience high-quality, attentive care, there are isolated instances or perceptions of care shortfalls. The pattern indicates generally strong care but with occasional lapses or circumstances where resident needs may have exceeded what the facility provided.

Staff receive consistently positive remarks in most summaries. Descriptors such as kind, caring, and compassionate recur in the reviews, and staff are often singled out as a major strength. Praise for staff attitude and interactions appears to be a reliable theme, contributing significantly to the overall favorable impression. One reviewer also emphasized that the staff are lovely, which aligns with the broader sentiment of warmth and professionalism. However, the few negative care-related reports imply that staffing or care delivery may occasionally be inconsistent.

Facilities and amenities are a clear highlight. Multiple reviewers mention private rooms with en-suite bathrooms and closets, a clean and home-like setting, and the visual appeal of the building and bedrooms. The ability to personalize rooms by bringing items from home is noted and valued. Dining receives specific praise in at least one review, which describes the food as excellent. The facility's small size and affordability are also repeatedly mentioned, framing Modern Living as an option that blends a residential feel with reasonable cost.

Two important areas of concern appear repeatedly enough to merit attention. First, activities and programming are singled out as insufficient by one reviewer; this suggests that social and recreational offerings may be limited relative to expectations. Second, a couple of reviewers felt they were misled on certain items, pointing to communication or expectation-setting issues. Together with the isolated reports of inadequate care and hospital transfer, these concerns suggest prospective residents and families should ask targeted questions about activity schedules, clinical capabilities, staffing patterns, and any promises made during tours or intake.

In summary, Modern Living Assisted Living for Seniors earns strong marks for cleanliness, a home-like environment, private en-suite rooms, compassionate staff, attractive accommodations, and good food at an affordable price point. Most reviewers recommend the facility and note improvements and modern amenities. However, there are isolated but significant negative reports about care consistency, at least one hospital transfer, insufficient activities, and instances where expectations were not fully met. Prospective residents and families would likely benefit from clarifying care-level capabilities, reviewing recent incidents or quality metrics, confirming the activity schedule, and documenting any promises during the admission process to ensure the facility aligns with their needs and expectations.

About Modern Living Assisted Living for Seniors

Modern Living Assisted Living for Seniors is a senior living community that's made a name for itself with a warm, caring staff and a clean, modern setting where sunlight comes in through the windows and every common space feels cozy and inviting, and when folks talk about service here, most mention the friendly staff who work every day to keep residents healthy, comfortable, and engaged, whether through assisted living, independent living, memory care, or even in-home care for seniors who still live at home. The place offers private, spacious one-bedroom apartments with WiFi and cable included, full kitchens, bathrooms, and some even have a balcony or patio, which many residents seem to like since it feels a little more like home, and there's plenty of other spaces to gather, like the dining room, cafe, chapel, library, computer lab, and lounge, plus there's a movie theater, activity rooms, beauty salon, and fitness center for those who want to get out and socialize or exercise a bit. Meals are made daily by chefs and include healthy options, with substitutions for special diets, and people can eat together in a community dining area, which helps folks socialize and not feel so alone, and if residents have trouble with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, or medication, trained aides and part-time nurses offer personal care and help as needed, both for short-term (respite) and long-term needs. For people with Alzheimer's, dementia, or traumatic brain injuries, Modern Living has secure areas designed to prevent wandering and confusion, along with staff trained to work with memory care and special needs, and they keep a close eye on everyone to notice any changes or concerns quickly, always with the aim to help folks be as independent as possible while staying safe. The community organizes all kinds of activities-live music, bingo on Fridays, fitness classes, monthly outings to places like apple orchards or Frankenmuth, games, movies, arts and crafts, and more-so there's something to keep hands and minds busy, and there's support for family caregivers too, with staff ready to help families figure out what services are right. Wheelchair access is taken into account, the facility has a resident emergency response system, free high-speed internet is available throughout, and staff stays awake all night to help residents if needed. Housekeeping, linen, laundry, and maintenance are handled, and transportation is available for shopping or appointments, so most day-to-day hassles are handled for residents, and while there's a focus on keeping things affordable, there are some high-end touches like twice-a-month beautician visits, nice common areas, and regular entertainment. Some feedback mentions concerns about staff training, but overall, the focus seems to be on dignity, warmth, and safety, and pets aren't allowed in most areas, though that can change depending on rules and accommodations. Modern Living Assisted Living for Seniors has won awards like the Best of Senior Living All Star Award and keeps a license (AL500007242) to provide Alzheimer's care and support for adults aged 65 and older, with a manageable community size that lets staff really know and look after each resident as part of the community family, whether someone stays short term or makes it their home for good, and folks are encouraged to schedule a visit if they want to see what life is like.
