    Clean facility understaffed and unresponsive

I had a mixed experience. The facility is clean, homey, and many staff are kind, attentive, and run excellent activities and therapy-when they're available. Chronic understaffing, especially on weekends (no weekend therapy for rehab patients), caused long call-light and meal waits, late or missed meals, reduced care and poor communication; emergencies were sometimes ignored and management unresponsive. I'd only recommend this place if you can provide strong family advocacy.

About The Willows at East Lansing

The Willows at East Lansing is a senior living community that provides assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation services, and it's a Continuing Care Retirement Community, so older adults have several choices as their needs change, and they can pick one-bedroom apartments or studio units with private bathrooms, with floor plans ranging from 140 to 477 square feet, all with kitchens or kitchenettes, utilities, cable TV, Wi-Fi, and individually controlled heating and air. The staff includes people from administration, nursing, food service, housekeeping, aides, and maintenance, and they're known for being friendly, kind, and helpful, staying involved in the day-to-day lives of residents and making sure everyone feels cared for and stays safe; staff also provide personalized help with daily activities, medication management, and special services for people living with dementia. There's a strong focus on cleanliness and making the place feel homelike with soft touches and visual warmth, and residents see this every day in common areas or in their own apartments, and the housekeeping and linen services help everyone keep things tidy without any hassle. Meals are nutritious, made with quality ingredients, and recognized with awards like Best Meals and Dining, so breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served fresh each day, plus there are private dining rooms for special occasions or family visits. Residents can join daily activities and life enrichment programs; these keep people active physically, mentally, and socially, and there are things going on every day, from exercise in the fitness center or gym to spending time in the clubhouse, courtyard, or resident garden, or joining events held indoors and outdoors, with a special memory care unit for those who need more support. Safety's a priority, so there's a 24-hour emergency alert system, handicap accessibility throughout, and maintenance of apartments and grounds; pet-friendly rules mean animals can live here too, and laundry, housekeeping, and linen services make daily life run smoothly, and transportation helps residents get where they need to go, with handicap parking available. Short-term stays are offered starting at $249 per day, and there's also skilled nursing and rehabilitation for those who need care after a hospital stay, so you'll find a range of healthcare support from basic help with daily tasks to specialized memory care, all under one roof. The Willows at East Lansing is managed by Trilogy Health Services, and they aim to make real, personal connections with all residents, offering helpful services, a safe and cozy setting, and a good mix of amenities like a salon, fitness center, private suites with showers, indoor and outdoor seating, on-site laundry, and daily programming to keep life interesting and comfortable.
