    Caring, clean, family-like Christian home

I toured this family-run, Christian senior home and was very impressed - multi-generational, consistent staff who are kind, proficient, and quick to respond provide 24-hour attentive care, daily bathing/dressing, monitored hydration, and engaging activities. Meals are home-cooked, delicious and healthy, the place is clean and welcoming, and it truly feels like family. They answered all my questions with compassion, but in the end it wasn't the best fit for my loved one.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive, with repeated emphasis on a warm, home-like environment and personalized, family-style care. Multiple reviewers describe A Touch of Home as feeling like living with family — a consistent theme reinforced by mentions of a family-operated model, multi-generational caregivers, and a welcoming atmosphere for visitors. The facility is frequently described as clean, well-maintained, and managed by staff who develop personal relationships with residents.

Care quality is portrayed as attentive and consistent. Reviewers highlight 24-hour care availability, quick staff responses, and daily personal care routines such as bathing and dressing. Several summaries underscore the compassion and gentleness of caregivers — phrases like "gentle hand," "compassionate staff," and "loving care" appear often. The presence of monitored hydration (fresh water within reach) and proactive assistance indicates attention to basic health and comfort needs.

Staffing and management receive high marks for both professionalism and warmth. Descriptors such as kind, caring, proficient, helpful, and attentive recur across reviews. Consistency in staffing and a smaller, family-operated structure are cited as strengths that contribute to continuity of care and a positive resident experience. Reviewers also note that tours tend to be informative and friendly, with staff taking time to answer questions and explain services.

Dining is a clear highlight: multiple reviewers praise home-cooked meals that are both delicious and healthy. The dining experience is tied to the home-like feel of the place and is presented as a meaningful contributor to resident satisfaction. However, there is at least one mention of weight loss, which stands out as a specific care concern related to nutrition or appetite for some residents. While the facility monitors hydration, weight changes suggest the need for individualized nutritional monitoring in some cases.

Activities and social life are presented positively; reviewers mention engaging activities and happy residents, reinforcing the impression that the community supports social engagement and well-being. The facility's Christian values are noted and appear to be part of the community identity; reviewers mention this as a positive attribute, particularly for families seeking a faith-aligned environment.

Notable patterns and concerns: the dominant pattern is high satisfaction with personalized, family-style care and a warm culture. The most concrete negative points are limited: a reported instance(s) of weight loss among residents and a recognition that, despite many positives, the community "was not the best fit for my loved one" in at least one case. This suggests that while A Touch of Home excels at creating a homelike, intimate setting, it may not meet every individual's clinical, social, or personal preferences or needs. Prospective families should consider both the facility's strengths (home-cooked meals, attentive staff, consistent caregiving, cleanliness, and a welcoming atmosphere) and whether the community's size, faith orientation, or care model align with their loved one's specific medical and social requirements.

In summary, reviews portray A Touch of Home as a small, family-run senior living option with strong emphasis on warmth, individualized attention, home-cooked nutrition, and compassionate caregivers. The facility appears especially well-suited for families looking for a home-like, faith-friendly environment with consistent, hands-on staff. Interested families should note the isolated reports of weight loss and assess fit through a thorough tour and discussion of individualized care plans to ensure the community meets any specific health or clinical needs.

    About A Touch of Home

A Touch of Home in Fenton, MI, is a small, family-owned adult foster care home with space for up to twelve residents, but usually three licensed beds in a home-like setting, and it has a warm, familiar feel that many people appreciate because the caregivers there have experience and really do care, and three generations of the family help out which leads to steady support for everyone who lives there. Residents get their own private suites or shared rooms, all air-conditioned, fully furnished, with private bathrooms and kitchenettes, cable TV, internet, and phone service too, so everyone is comfortable and can stay connected, and nobody needs to worry about housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, or cooking because the staff handle those jobs, and meals come prepared fresh with healthy ingredients and the residents' preferences in mind, including for special diets like allergies or diabetes.

There's 24-hour supervision with standby help close by, and caregivers help with everything from getting dressed to bathing, moving around, medication management and administration, and even therapy visits if needed like physical, occupational, or speech therapy, hospice, and emergency care because the home sits close to hospitals, doctor's offices, and fire and police services, and those who need extra memory care for dementia have a special neighborhood just for them, staffed by workers with extra training. Residents get to enjoy community activities, movie nights, walking paths, a garden, a front patio for sitting together, and nearby parks and lakes for anyone who wants to go outside, and the communal dining room lets people eat meals together on a schedule or anytime during the day.

Staff members organize group activities, on-site services, devotional gatherings, and trips out, and try hard to match the activities to what people like to do, and the environment overall stays welcoming, nurturing, and calm, which can be good for seniors who need a quiet routine and close attention, and there's an emergency alert system in place. The home supports both men and women, doesn't allow smoking inside, and doesn't accept Medicare unless certified by government guidelines, though it is licensed by the State of Michigan as an adult foster care home, so families can feel secure knowing the care provided follows the rules set by the state. The community's main focus is on compassionate daily support, good food, personal help, and a safe, comfortable home for older adults who'd rather not live in big facilities.
