    Small homey place improving care

I placed my father here. It's a small, homey place with private, large rooms and private baths, and the common areas are very clean and well‑maintained. Food and activities are good; staffing and personal care were uneven at first, but new owners are making positive improvements. Overall I felt it offered caring, high‑quality support.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews of Frankfort Senior Care Home is mixed but leans toward positive for facility condition and the small-home, personalized atmosphere. Multiple reviewers emphasize that the home is very clean and well-maintained, with large rooms and a homey feel. Several comments single out private rooms and private bathrooms as strong points, and one reviewer specifically noted the ability to keep parents together in the same room, which is an important feature for couples or family members who want to remain together.

Care quality is a prominent and divergent theme. Some reviewers praise "awesome personal care" and describe the facility as offering "high-quality care" with positive staff–resident interaction. These comments suggest attentive, individualized care in at least some cases. However, other reviews raise serious concerns about understaffing and "insufficient personal care." This split indicates inconsistency in caregiver availability or performance across different times or residents, making care quality an unpredictable element based on the current set of reviews.

Staffing and social interaction also show mixed signals. Positive interaction with residents and active staff engagement are highlighted by some reviewers, and the small-home environment is described as conducive to personalized attention and activities to enjoy. Conversely, other reviewers reported a "lack of resident interaction," which may reflect variable activity programming or staffing levels affecting social engagement. Activity offerings are mentioned favorably by at least one reviewer, but the inconsistency across reviews suggests prospective families should verify current activity schedules and participation rates.

Facilities receive largely positive remarks: reviewers repeatedly note cleanliness and well-maintained rooms, with at least one describing the rooms as large. At the same time, there is mention of shared common areas; depending on expectations, that could be perceived as a limitation in communal space or privacy for residents. The combination of private sleeping/bathing spaces with shared common areas is an important nuance—private rooms and bathrooms are a plus, while the extent and quality of shared spaces may vary.

Dining impressions are another area of disagreement. Several reviewers report "good" or "great" food, indicating satisfying meal quality for some residents. Yet other reviewers explicitly describe "poor meals." This contradiction further supports the pattern of inconsistent experiences across different reviewers—dining quality may depend on timing, staffing, or recent changes in management or menus.

Management appears to be a potential mitigating factor: one review explicitly notes new owners who are making positive changes. That detail could help explain some of the variation in experiences if service levels are improving or in transition. One review also mentions a resident's death (father's death); the reviews do not provide context tying the death to care quality, so it should be noted without drawing conclusions about causation.

In summary, Frankfort Senior Care Home shows many strengths—clean, well-kept facilities; private rooms and bathrooms; a small-home, personalized environment; available activities; and positive reports of staff interaction and food from multiple reviewers. However, there are important and recurring concerns about understaffing, reports of insufficient personal care, and inconsistent meal quality and resident interaction. The presence of new ownership making positive changes is encouraging and may account for some variability. Prospective residents and families should consider touring the home, asking specifically about current staffing levels and ratios, recent operational changes under the new ownership, the consistency of dining and activity programs, and the availability of private versus shared spaces to determine whether the facility's current reality aligns with their priorities.

Frankfort Senior Care Home sits in a quiet, private spot at 216 W Cox Road in Frankfort, Michigan, in the 49635 zip code, where the home offers both senior living and assisted living services for older adults who need help with daily activities, and what you'll notice right away is that there's a warm, home-like setting with only 12 assisted living units, making everything feel close and personal, especially with a licensed capacity for 12 residents, and you'll see that the staff are around at all hours-day and night-with registered nurses available, so help's there when you need it, plus, for medical concerns, the place keeps up with regular inspections from the Michigan DHS and works closely with healthcare providers for medication management and other needs.

You'll find several accommodation choices, from one-bedroom and studio apartments to communal living options, and some rooms set up with private or semi-private arrangements, all featuring kitchenettes, telephones, and furnished spaces, and there's a total of 13 bedrooms and 7 full bathrooms, with the house having flooring that's a mix of carpet, laminate, and linoleum or vinyl, and appliances like a dishwasher, microwave, washer and dryer, garbage disposal, range, refrigerator, and freezer, plus heating comes from forced air, propane/butane, or wood/pellet systems, although there's no air conditioning here.

Emergency response systems are in all rooms, with supervision day and night, and respite care and board and care home services give families options when they need a break or need temporary care, while home health services and personalized assessments make sure everyone's needs are checked and updated as things change.

For community life, there's a full calendar of daily activities, clubs, scheduled meals, and movie nights, all focused on keeping residents involved, and there's a chapel service, games room, library spot, computer area, and a snack shop-plus, outdoors, serenity gardens and walking paths give everyone a peaceful place to get some fresh air, and there's a patio to sit and chat.

The facility prepares meals daily, offers all-day dining, and makes special meal plans for allergies or diabetes, and residents can invite guests for a meal, too, and there's help with laundry, housekeeping, grocery shopping, and running errands, so folks don't have to worry about chores unless they want to help.

Community services include both complimentary and at-cost transportation, parking for residents, indoor and outdoor common areas, and there's an attached garage and a newer pole barn for storage or the owner's equipment, and the place has been updated over the years to stay comfortable and safe.

Everything about Frankfort Senior Care Home keeps a steady focus on each resident's comfort, safety, health, and daily wellbeing, whether they need memory care, extra medical attention, high acuity care, or just some help getting through everyday life, and the overall feeling is warm and inviting, like a big extended family in a caring, thoughtful neighborhood setting.
