    Caring staff, inconsistent night care

I placed my mom in this small, well-kept home run by Amanda because the staff were loving, compassionate, kept her active and social, and hospice made her last days comfortable - we felt like family and I'm grateful for the care. The meals and surroundings were lovely, but there were management/staff inconsistencies and nighttime call bells were sometimes ignored, so it's best suited for more independent residents.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is largely positive, with repeated praise for the quality of day-to-day care, the compassionate demeanor of caregivers, and the facility's home-like, well-maintained setting. Many reviewers explicitly describe the staff as caring, respectful, and attentive; families appreciated that staff kept residents active and socially engaged. The owner (Amanda) is mentioned positively, reinforcing a sense of personalized attention and management presence. The location and resident community are also noted as pleasant and friendly, adding to the overall favorable impression.

Care quality and end-of-life support emerge as strong themes. Several reviewers emphasize that care was "very good" and "wonderful," noting compassion and dignity in hospice involvement and comfort in residents' last days. Hospice services are described as being handled smoothly and respectfully, which provided families with reassurance during difficult transitions. Multiple accounts portray the staff as accommodating, like family, and deeply supportive — factors that families clearly valued highly.

Staffing and management present a mixed picture. On the positive side, a number of reviews highlight attentive, kind, and helpful staff and direct praise for management/ownership. However, there are also concerning reports: a set of reviewers described unresponsive night staff and call bells not being heard at night, creating nighttime safety and responsiveness issues. Other reviews mention negative staff or management behavior and even mistreatment, though these appear less frequent than the positive reports. The coexistence of strong praise and some serious complaints suggests inconsistency in staff performance or variability across shifts (day vs. night) and possibly different experiences over time.

Facilities and atmosphere are generally described positively. Multiple reviewers call the environment small, well-maintained, and home-like. The setting is described as beautiful and comforting, which supports the perception of a cozy, personal care environment rather than an institutional one. This small, familial atmosphere is repeatedly linked to personalized attention and positive interactions between residents and staff.

Dining and nutrition show both positive and negative signals. Several reviews explicitly call the meals "delicious," which is a strong positive for quality of life. Conversely, at least one review complained about poor meals, describing TV-dinner–style food and uneven distribution among residents. This indicates some inconsistency in dining quality across experiences or time, and it is an area a prospective family might want to verify during a visit.

Activities and social engagement receive favorable mention: reviewers noted that residents were kept active and social, and that the resident community was nice. This aligns with the comments about a family-like setting and suggests that programming and social opportunities are present and meaningful for many residents.

Key patterns and recommendations: the dominant theme is compassionate, personalized care in a small, well-kept facility where families felt supported, especially around hospice and end-of-life care. Counterbalancing this are significant concerns about nighttime responsiveness and isolated reports of mistreatment or poor management behavior, as well as inconsistent reports about meal quality. Those concerns are important because they relate to resident safety and daily comfort.

For someone considering Cedar Creek of Hastings, the reviews suggest it is a strong option for residents who want a small, home-like environment and who primarily need daytime support and social engagement. Prospective families should directly ask about night staffing levels, the reliability of the call bell system, and how the facility handles overnight emergencies. It would also be prudent to inquire about current dining menus and sample a meal, and to ask for references from recent families about management responsiveness. These checks can help confirm whether the positive patterns described in many reviews are consistent and whether the reported nighttime and management issues have been addressed.
