    Compassionate community with occasional issues

I placed my parent here and overall I'm very pleased - the beautiful campus, suite-style rooms and amenities (tea events, concerts, outings, movies, putting green) keep residents engaged and happy. The caregiving staff are warm, professional and attentive, transitions to higher levels of care were smooth, and leadership has been responsive. My concerns are occasional staffing shortages/turnover, some dining and maintenance inconsistencies, and mixed customer-service experiences. Despite those issues, this community provides compassionate, family-focused care and a vibrant place to call home.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is strongly positive about the quality of life and the human side of Pomeroy Living Orion—many reviewers emphasize compassionate, attentive staff who form strong relationships with residents and families. Specific staff members (for example Lorene, Nicole, Chris, and front desk Ann) are highlighted by name for their kindness and helpfulness. Multiple accounts describe smooth move-ins and transitions between independent living, assisted living, and memory care, with families expressing relief and gratitude for the level of medical and emotional support provided. Nursing and med-tech care are often praised for timeliness and effectiveness (for example, prevention of bed sores and reliable medication administration). Several reviewers described sensitive, family-centered end-of-life care and quick responsiveness when issues arose.

Facility and amenities receive consistent praise: the community is repeatedly described as brand-new or very modern, clean, and nicely maintained with suite-like apartments (including in-room refrigerators). Outdoor spaces, gardens, patios, and a putting green are positively noted, and indoor amenities such as a cafe, hair salon, exercise room, and movie nights contribute to a resort-like or luxury-hotel atmosphere. Residents and families appreciate the breadth of social programming—arts and crafts, exercise classes, weekly shopping trips, live music (violinists), themed events (Mother's Day tea with fine china), and daily happy hour are cited as evidence of an active, engaging community that fosters friendships and mental stimulation.

Dining and activities: reviews of dining are mixed. Some families praise a wide variety of food options and special meal occasions, while others report a decline in dining quality and inconsistency due to multiple chefs or staffing changes. Several reviewers mention anticipation about a new chef expected to improve the dining program. Activities are numerous and generally well-received, though a recurring theme is that some programming tends to be targeted toward independent-living residents; a few reviewers would like to see more offerings tailored to assisted-living and memory-care needs.

Operational and management issues: while many reviewers call out responsive managers and a helpful main office, there are important counterpoints. Several accounts describe significant staffing shortages and high turnover, which can affect continuity of care and resident experience. A few reviews report serious concerns about management conduct—allegations of hostility and wrongful termination for reporting abuse were mentioned—and some families note mixed staff performance or unhelpful desk personnel. Maintenance concerns arise in multiple summaries: despite an overall clean appearance, reviewers mention construction-related problems attributed to corner-cutting and a maintenance team that is sometimes overwhelmed, causing delays in repairs and upkeep.

Communication and transitions: many families praise smooth transitions and strong staff-resident bonds, but there are also reports of gaps in staff recognition of declining health and a lack of proactive discussion about the need to move from independent living to more supportive levels of care. This inconsistency suggests variability in assessment and communication practices across staff or shifts. Several reviewers advise that families stay engaged and visit regularly to ensure care needs are met, reflecting concerns tied to staffing variability.

Price and value: some reviewers note that Pomeroy Living Orion is expensive, though others report competitive pricing or special offers (for example, initiation fee waived). Overall, most reviewers feel the cost is justified by the level of care, atmosphere, and amenities, but price sensitivity is a consideration for prospective residents.

Bottom line: The dominant themes are overwhelmingly positive around staff compassion, a modern and comfortable facility, robust social programming, and a supportive community atmosphere. However, prospective residents and families should be aware of and monitor operational risks raised repeatedly in the reviews—especially staffing shortages and turnover, occasional maintenance and dining inconsistencies, and variable management/communication practices. For many, the excellent personal care and active community make Pomeroy Living Orion highly recommendable, but careful attention to staffing stability, dining plans, and how the community handles changing care needs is advised when making a placement decision.

About Pomeroy Living Orion- Assisted Living

Pomeroy Living Orion-Assisted Living sits in Orion Township, Michigan, offering several types of care including assisted living, memory care for people with Alzheimer's or dementia, and independent living for healthier, active seniors who want fewer daily chores and more social time, and folks say staff members like Lorene and Ann do their jobs with kindness and respect, which makes a real difference to the residents living there. The community supports residents with help for daily activities like bathing and dressing, and medication management, and healthcare services like nursing help for 12-16 hours a day, a 24-hour call system for emergencies, non-ambulatory care, diabetic help, and support for people who need incontinence care, plus they're nearby Women's Excellence In Obstetrics & Gynecology and the local CVS Pharmacy if you need to get out for prescriptions or doctor appointments. The grounds are landscaped with walking paths and there are outdoor spots with grills, a fireplace, and a putting green; inside, you get a game room, pub, library, fitness room, salon services, a sauna, a spa, and special wellness programs aimed at both physical and mental health, and it's all cleaned and maintained regularly with weekly laundry and housekeeping services so the place stays inviting for everybody. There are lots of ways residents can fill their days-movie nights, music programs, arts and crafts, fitness classes, devotional services, and offsite trips to places like Miyako Japanese Steakhouse and Starbucks, and daily activities help people stay engaged, even those in memory care who have more structured schedules to try to keep minds sharp. Pomeroy Living Orion tries to keep things personal with care plans made for each resident, reviewed monthly to reflect changing needs, and they use safety features like fall detection and a 24-hour response system so folks feel a bit safer, even though sometimes the community has staffing challenges that might impact how quickly problems get solved or maintenance gets done. There are several apartment and condo options, some companion-style and others private, each with appliances like washers and dryers; meals are served restaurant-style using quality ingredients, and all utilities except phone and cable are covered. Residents can use the community's own transportation for appointments, shopping, or social trips, and there's a regular board of directors, regulations support for HFA and AFC, and even CALD renewal and training for staff, which helps keep care standards steady. Hospice, short-term rehab, and respite care are also available, and the place is well-regarded for its compassionate approach and variety of enriching activities, with a focus on privacy and letting folks stay as independent as they want while having support when it's needed. The estimated starting price is about $4,760 a month, and that cost will change depending on the type of apartment and the level of care a person needs. Residents like the friendly environment, the lively activities, and the staff's attention, although every now and then staffing issues crop up as in any busy place, but overall people find a caring and respectful community at Pomeroy Living Orion.
