    Warm staff, home-like caring community

I moved my mom to Lakeview Terrace and overall we're very happy. The staff are warm, attentive, and treat residents like family; the place is clean, home-like and spacious with excellent meals, lots of fun activities (music, outings, pets, ice cream/snacks) and quick responses to concerns. Onboarding/communication at move-in could be clearer, occasional short-staffing occurs, and monthly costs have risen, but the caring team and strong sense of community made this the right choice for us.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews for Lakeview Terrace Assisted Living is strongly positive with recurring praise focused on staff, the living environment, dining, and activity programming. The dominant and most consistent theme is the high quality of interpersonal care: reviewers repeatedly describe staff as caring, compassionate, attentive, patient, and family-like. Many reviews emphasize that employees go the extra mile, that administrators and directors are accessible and responsive, and that staff take time with each resident. Several accounts specifically note that staff anticipated needs, provided quick problem resolution, and were effective during challenging transitions (including COVID-related restrictions), which contributes to a perception of safety and reliability.

Facility and apartments receive frequent commendations. Reviewers consistently describe Lakeview Terrace as well-maintained, clean, bright, and home-like. Apartment units are characterized as spacious and easy to personalize, with strong natural light and pleasant views. Common areas such as the dining room and sitting areas are repeatedly called attractive and comfortable; the facility layout is noted as well-designed and easy to navigate, often citing a manageable, small community size that many families appreciate. Outdoor amenities — a courtyard, patio, fenced walking areas and terrace — are highlighted in multiple reviews as important quality-of-life features. The small size (reports of roughly 30 residents) and a “small-town” feel are often framed positively, promoting close social ties and easier staff familiarity with individual residents.

Dining and nutrition are another strong positive trend. Numerous reviews describe meals as well-prepared, varied, satisfying and attentive to dietary restrictions, with staff mindful of cross-contamination and special diets. Praise is given to kitchen staff for quality food, pleasant meal aromas, and accommodating special requests (e.g., personalized birthday desserts). That said, a minority of reviewers indicated the food is inconsistent at times or "not as great" on certain occasions; this suggests generally high performance with occasional quality variation.

Activity programming and social life are repeatedly cited as strengths. Life-enrichment offerings are broad and frequent: Bingo, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, crafts, beauty shop visits, music groups, weekly bands, animal programs, outings, guest speakers, morning exercise and men’s groups are all referenced. Reviewers emphasize that programming is varied and tailored to resident interests, and that activities foster social interaction and improved mental health. Special events (parades, carnivals, happy hour, ice cream socials) and outside entertainment reinforce a lively, engaged community atmosphere.

Operational strengths include attentive housekeeping and laundry service, good maintenance, and generally prompt staff response to call lights and questions. Many reviews single out the administrator and life-enrichment director for positive leadership, noting warm tours and thoughtful introductions to residents. Several families reported strong hospice coordination, memorial and funeral support, and excellent communication during difficult times — reinforcing the facility’s reputation for compassionate care beyond routine support.

Despite many positive themes, several concerns recur and a few isolated but serious allegations appear that families should weigh carefully. The most significant outlier complaints allege severe misconduct: one review claims a vulnerable resident was evicted for lack of funds and alleges unlawful withdrawal of money, failure to provide ostomy care leading to infection/hospitalization and death, and describes the administration as profit-driven and ruthless. These are singular but very serious allegations that differ markedly from the bulk of positive reviews and warrant direct inquiry and verification with the facility and authorities if true. In addition, some residents and family members report fear of speaking up due to potential retaliation, raising concerns about transparency and complaint procedures.

More commonly reported, but less severe, operational issues include occasional short-staffing (particularly concerns about adequate staffing levels), move-in communication and inadequate orientation for new residents (difficulty learning schedules and navigation), and sporadic needs for improved staff communication. A few reviewers noted pricing concerns — a reported 12% rate increase and a one-time non-refundable extra payment — which may impact affordability. There are also isolated claims of staff substance use before shifts, which, while rare in the dataset, are serious and should prompt verification by prospective families.

Patterns in the reviews point to a facility that excels in relational and daily-living domains: staff engagement, meaningful activities, a clean and pleasant environment, and attentive culinary and housekeeping services. Management is often praised for responsiveness, but reviews also identify specific operational areas for improvement: onboarding and orientation processes, staffing consistency, transparent financial policies, and robust complaint/whistleblower protections. Given the single but grave allegations about financial and clinical misconduct, prospective families should request clear written policies: financial safeguards and billing practices, clinical capabilities (e.g., ostomy and wound care competencies), incident reporting procedures, staff training and screening protocols, staffing ratios, and the facility’s process for handling complaints anonymously.

In summary, Lakeview Terrace receives overwhelmingly positive feedback on its people-centered care, community feel, clean attractive facilities, and robust activity and dining programs. These strengths contribute to many families describing it as home-like and recommending it to others. At the same time, prospective residents and families should perform due diligence on the identified operational and safety concerns, seek clarifications on pricing and financial policies, verify clinical care capabilities for complex needs, observe staffing levels during different shifts, and confirm how complaints and privacy concerns are handled. Balancing the highly positive majority experience with targeted investigation into the isolated but serious allegations will give the clearest picture for decision-making.
