    About East Lansing

East Lansing - CLOSED used to be a medium-sized senior living community in East Lansing, Michigan, where folks aged 55 and over could choose from studio, single, or two-bedroom apartments, each with full bathrooms, kitchenettes, cable and internet, and heating and cooling controls for comfort, and they even had emergency call systems in case someone needed help fast; now, though, the place isn't open so you can't get care or services right now, but back when it was running, residents got help with daily activities like bathing or dressing, got their medications managed, had meals prepared for them-special meals too for diabetes and allergies-and could enjoy onsite care ranging from independent living and assisted living to memory care, skilled nursing, and even hospice services for folks needing more help. The memory care community had specially trained staff around the clock for people with Alzheimer's and dementia, secure environments, and memory-support programs, along with activities designed to boost memory, plus there was technology like Foresite to help predict falls and health issues, so people could feel a bit safer. Folks who liked to keep busy could join arts and crafts or the cooking club, work out in the gym, take yoga or chair yoga, get haircuts at the onsite salon, check out books at the public library, or join the gardening group, and residents could even enjoy music groups, movie nights, and game nights, while the dining room served food all day and the bistro offered another place to grab a snack. The grounds included a garden, patios, and a dog park (open in summer), and the whole place allowed some pets. For people just recovering from injury, illness, or surgery, or for primary caregivers who needed short breaks, respite care and short-term rehabilitation were on hand, while skilled nursing services included wound care and round-the-clock medical help. Transportation services helped residents get around, and there was parking for both guests and residents. Onsite, the place ran like a small village-there were religious services, pharmacy, housekeeping, laundry, move-in coordination, and recreational activities, plus services could be delivered in English and non-ambulatory care was available too. East Lansing - CLOSED always worked to create a lively environment with summer family events like music, movies, and children's activities at the Aquatic Center, plus there were cooling centers for hot weather, a library with summer reading challenges, and community fundraisers through the Burcham Hills Foundation. Although East Lansing - CLOSED is now shut, when it was open people got options that fit a range of needs, including supporting those wanting to stay independent and those needing extra support or end-of-life care, and the staff paid attention to promoting choice, autonomy, and safety for everyone. The community was licensed by the state, allowed credit card or check payments, and had a rating of about 3.8 out of 5.
