    Warm clean home compassionate staff

I'm very pleased with this home - warm, nicely decorated, spotlessly clean and feels like a real house with spacious rooms, accessible baths, a pleasant deck/gazebo and an open living area. Staff and owner are compassionate and professional (owner has nursing experience, monthly doctor visits, 24-hour care) and the homemade meals are excellent. My main concerns were understaffing (sometimes only 2 caregivers for 6-7 residents), limited activities, occasional language barriers, and it can be pricey - but overall I'm glad I chose it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is strongly positive regarding the environment, cleanliness, and the personal, home-like character of Livonia Manor. Multiple reviewers emphasize a warm, family atmosphere with nicely and often beautifully decorated interiors, comfortable rooms (both private and shared), and accessible bathrooms including a roll-in shower. The facility appears to be newer or recently renovated, with finishing touches still in progress according to some comments. Outdoor amenities such as a deck with a gazebo and pleasant sitting areas are highlighted repeatedly and contribute to the positive physical setting.

Care quality and staffing are described in largely favorable terms: reviewers frequently mention compassionate, kind, intuitive, and professional caregivers and express satisfaction with long-term care, memory care availability, and 24-hour supervision. Monthly doctor visits were noted, reinforcing a perception of medical oversight. Several people stated they were pleased with their choice and found the staff competent and compassionate. That said, a notable concern appears repeatedly: understaffing. One specific example cited two caregivers responsible for six to seven residents, which raises questions about staff-to-resident ratios during some shifts. While many reviewers praise staff behavior and responsiveness, the staffing level concern is a consistent caveat that prospective families should clarify.

Dining and daily life receive strong positive marks. Homemade meals, delicious food, and available snacks are recurring compliments; some reviewers explicitly call out excellent meals. Daily activities and memory-care programming were mentioned positively by several reviewers, contributing to the home-like and organized feel. However, activity offerings are a mixed theme: while multiple reviewers praised activities and organization, others described residents as not socially active or reported limited activities. This suggests variability in activity frequency, engagement level, or expectations among residents and families. Prospective residents should ask about the current activities schedule and specific memory-care programming to ensure it meets their needs.

Management and ownership are also recurring themes. The owner is described as experienced (nursing home background), hands-on, and even living on-site with family in some cases; reviewers often call the operator 'nice' and the facility 'organized.' These points contribute to a sense of personalized oversight. At the same time, practical issues arise: some reviewers noted the facility is full or has no beds available, indicating high demand and possible waiting lists. There is also at least one report of a caregiver who did not speak English, which families may want to address directly if language compatibility is important. Finally, a small number of comments referenced residents who 'had nowhere to go,' which could reflect placement challenges or the facility taking residents in difficult circumstances; this is worth clarifying in conversation with management.

In summary, Livonia Manor is portrayed as a clean, attractively furnished, and home-like assisted living/memory care option with strong praise for meals, caring staff, and on-site leadership. Key strengths are atmosphere, decoration, cleanliness, compassionate caregiving, and amenities such as accessible baths and outdoor spaces. Important considerations before deciding include staffing levels during different shifts, current availability and waitlist status, activity programming consistency, cost (some reviewers found it too expensive while others saw good value), and any language preferences for caregiving staff. Families touring the home should verify staff-to-resident ratios, observe an activities period if possible, meet caregiving staff, and confirm medical oversight and availability to ensure the facility matches the specific needs of their loved one.
