    Peaceful warm family-like care community

I felt immediate peace of mind entrusting my mom to this warm, family-like community - the staff (nurses, caregivers, kitchen and cleaning) were attentive, caring and went above and beyond. The facility is beautiful, very clean and comfortable, with good food and on-site services (medical, hairdresser); my mom adjusted well in memory care and I highly recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the review summaries is strongly positive, with a consistent emphasis on high-quality, compassionate caregiving and a well-kept, home-like facility. The most frequent theme is the staff: reviewers repeatedly describe caregivers, nurses, kitchen and cleaning staff, and administration as caring, friendly, professional, and above-and-beyond in their service. Multiple summaries highlight that staff treat residents like family, are patient with questions, and support families through difficult transitions such as hospice. Several reviewers explicitly say the facility provided excellent care for long-term residents as well as short stays, which generated peace of mind and strong recommendations.

Care quality and clinical supports are repeatedly noted as strengths. Reviewers cite attentive staff, on-site medical care, and specific helpfulness in managing complex needs (for example hospice arrangements). Memory care receives positive mention as a warm, welcoming unit where residents adjusted well. Statements about thorough, hands-on care—"great caring hands," "loving care," and "meets her needs"—indicate families felt residents’ personal and clinical needs were met consistently.

The physical environment and amenities are another clear positive. Multiple summaries describe the facility as beautiful, very clean, well maintained, and safe. Commenters noted comfortable apartments and communal furnishings (recliners, dining tables) that contribute to a home-like atmosphere. On-site services such as a hairdresser and reasonable pricing were appreciated, and location was described favorably by one reviewer. Kitchen and cleaning staff receive separate praise, underlining that both living spaces and dining services are well maintained.

Dining and daily life are also strong points in the reviews. Several reviewers call out good, healthy, and hearty meals and describe the food as "great." Many reviews reference active programming and "all kinds of activities," suggesting residents have opportunities for engagement and social interaction, with staff often participating and encouraging connections between residents.

Management, communication, and customer service are described positively: administration is called kind and helpful, and reviewers use phrases like "outstanding customer service," "very helpful," and "wonderful to work with." These comments suggest families find communication and administrative interactions supportive and responsive.

Notable patterns and concerns: while overwhelmingly positive, there are a small number of isolated negative comments that warrant attention. One reviewer reported understaffing and a lack of activities, and another felt some staff members "were not in the right profession." These concerns contrast with the many praises for staffing and activities and may reflect a localized or time-specific issue (shift coverage, turnover, or a particular wing/unit). Because these are minority reports amid many favorable reviews, they should be treated as points to monitor rather than as representative of the general experience, but they are important to consider when evaluating consistency of service.

In summary, the reviews paint Evergreen Meadows as a warm, well-run senior living community with particularly strong caregiving, clean and attractive facilities, good dining, and responsive administration. The dominant impression is one of residents being treated with dignity and affection and families being reassured by attentive staff and available services. The few isolated concerns about staffing levels and activity availability are worth following up on during a tour or when speaking with administration, but they do not outweigh the many positive reports of high-quality, family-like care and strong recommendations from multiple reviewers.

    About Evergreen Meadows

Evergreen Meadows sits within a family of three senior living communities in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, serving folks in Dickinson County since 1985, and there's Evergreen Heights and Victorian Pines Estates as well, so there's kind of a lot under that umbrella, and there's a long history there, with Evergreen Meadows itself offering a continuum of care that includes independent living townhomes, assisted living apartments, and a dedicated memory care unit, so you see a real dedication to letting people age in place with different support levels. The community welcomes up to 50 residents and holds a state license with the classification as a Homes for the Aged - Exempt, under the licensee Evergreen Heights Inc., and there are regular state inspections, including licensing studies and special reviews, so there's good oversight in place, and they're approved to help people with many different health and care needs, from Alzheimer's and dementia to traumatic brain injury and even physical or developmental disabilities.

You'll find private and semi-private rooms, including 1-bedroom assisted living and 2-bedroom apartments, all with air conditioning, private bathrooms, kitchenettes, and basic amenities like cable TV, telephone, high-speed Wi-Fi, and even wide doorways and elevators for easier access with a wheelchair. Residents have help available with daily activities-including bathing, dressing, and getting around-plus medication management, transportation to appointments, and laundry and housekeeping, and if someone needs more specialized care, like support for mild cognitive impairment, memory care, or even hospice, staff can help with that. There's always a 24-hour call system and supervision, so everyone's checked on and there's support, especially in the secure memory care portion, which is designed to be safe and comfortable for those dealing with memory loss, dementia, or Alzheimer's, with special activities to help memory and keep folks feeling engaged.

The meals at Evergreen Meadows use organic foods, and a professional chef handles dietary needs or restrictions, so everyone can eat well together in the dining area. There are common rooms like a library, activity and game rooms, a fitness room, and even outdoor gardens and walking paths, which are nice places to chat or take in some fresh air when the weather's right, and the staff coordinates outings, daily events, resident-run groups, arts and music activities, fitness classes, and movie nights, so there's plenty to pass the time and stay active if someone wants to. Every apartment has furnished living spaces, and you can choose independent living for more privacy and autonomy, or opt for the extra support of assisted living or memory care, with cheerful staff who, from all reports, treat residents like family and help make care arrangements manageable for everyone. Evergreen Meadows provides all kinds of support for both residents and their families, including concierge and family support services, and there's move-in coordination to help smooth the transition. Residents can rely on licensed nurses who're on hand for part of the day-usually 12-16 hours-and caregivers who help with transfers, wheelchair needs, and emergency situations, so there's always some extra peace of mind. Safety's a focus, with emergency alert systems and security measures in place, and folks can expect regular inspections and attention to quality, given the licensing requirements and state oversight.

The whole philosophy at Evergreen Meadows is to support independence, dignity, and personal comfort, and while it's never perfect anywhere, people seem to appreciate the sense of community, the variety of activities, the well-kept grounds, the friendly helpers, and the affordable rates. Victorian Pines nearby also has assisted living if someone's looking for another style or environment, but at Evergreen Meadows, you're always part of a broader, locally-owned network that's got a history of treating people with care and respect. With immediate availability in both assisted living and memory care, the doors are open for new folks looking to settle into a setting that balances support, engagement, and the comforts of home.
