    Kind staff, beautiful facility, recommended

I moved my mom to Cedarbrook and feel lucky - the staff are consistently kind, professional and attentive, the facility and grounds are beautiful and spotless, meals are good, and daily activities keep residents engaged. Memory care is compassionate and management was proactive during COVID, communicating and going the extra mile. It's on the pricier side and you may see occasional staffing or dining hiccups, but overall my family feels safe, supported and would recommend Cedarbrook.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews for Cedarbrook of Northville is strongly positive, with consistent praise for the staff, safety, physical environment, and breadth of services. The dominant theme across reviews is the compassionate, hands-on nature of caregiving: families repeatedly describe staff as caring, patient, and willing to go above and beyond. Directors and specific staff members (several named repeatedly) are singled out for leadership, responsiveness, and support during transitions. Many reviewers emphasize that residents feel safe, well cared for, and socially engaged; several family members note daily updates, photos, and videos that keep families connected and reassured.

Care quality and memory care receive high marks in most accounts. Reviewers report personalized attention, frequent mental stimulation, strong staffing ratios, and an environment described as homey, stylish, and well decorated. Memory-care programming is praised for arts, music, interpretive movement, and activity engagement that help residents thrive — with standout cases such as a 96-year-old resident described as thriving. Nursing staff and aides are frequently described as professional, empathetic, and attentive, and multiple families explicitly recommend the community for memory or skilled care. At the same time, there are isolated but serious complaints alleging lapses in nursing care, delays in assistance, and concerns about one named DON; these are minority reports but notable for their severity and should be considered outliers in the overall positive dataset.

The facility and amenities are consistently lauded: Cedarbrook is described as new, immaculately clean, and resort-like with hotel-grade features (theater, bar, in-room amenities, well-kept gardens, and large common spaces). Dining is often described positively — delicious meals, beautiful dining areas, and special holiday dinners — and the social calendar includes concerts, holiday events, cocktail hours, and classes like chair yoga and Zentangle. Families and residents appreciate the variety and frequency of programming and the social opportunities that contribute to residents’ emotional and social wellbeing. Nevertheless, several reviews point to variability in activity offerings (especially compared to pre-COVID programming) and requests for more music in the activities lineup.

Management, operations, and COVID response are recurring strengths in the reviews. Multiple families praise the organization for proactive, creative infection-control measures such as remote Zoom visits, transparent family communication, and rapid problem solving. Reviewers note that management takes feedback seriously and responds to concerns, arranging individualized solutions when needed. However, a pattern of staffing turnover and workload strain emerges in some reviews: a few family members mention hectic demands on staff, inconsistent communication, and the impact of staffing changes on the continuity of care. These operational pressures also connect to some of the negative dining and service incidents (cold/forgotten meals, occasional long waits for assistance), suggesting that staffing levels and training consistency are areas to monitor.

Cost and scale are other recurring themes. Numerous reviewers call Cedarbrook high-end and sometimes expensive — positioning it as a premium option with commensurate amenities and rooms. A few note that the large, resort-like size can feel less intimate than smaller facilities and that promises made during tours about community engagement were not always fully realized. Practical issues raised by some families include occasional cleanliness lapses in individual rooms, limited designated parking, and variability in staff performance across shifts. While most feedback is affirming, there are a handful of strong negative outliers describing significant care failures; these should be investigated separately, but do not represent the majority view.

In summary, Cedarbrook of Northville is portrayed across reviews as a high-quality, safety-focused senior living community with strong memory care, attentive and compassionate staff, attractive facilities, and a broad, engaging activities program. The most consistent positives are the staff’s dedication, family communication tools, and the modern, hotel-like environment. Areas for improvement that appear repeatedly include management of staffing turnover and workload to reduce service inconsistencies, attention to occasional dining/service errors, clearer and more consistent communication in a few cases, and maintaining or restoring the depth of pre-COVID activities and music programming that some families miss. Overall, the reviews indicate a community that delivers excellent care for most residents and families, with a few operational pain points that—if addressed—would strengthen an already highly regarded offering.
