    Felt unsafe; staff lacked compassion

I felt unsafe here. Aggressive, sometimes violent residents (including some with mental health issues) and a building attached to the assisted-living facility created constant safety concerns. Staff showed little compassion or empathy, made hurtful comments, and behaved poorly - I left.

    About Medallion Village

Medallion Village offers several living options for seniors, whether they want to live mainly on their own or need daily help, and you'll find independent living for active seniors and assisted living with staff ready day and night, so everyone can pick what fits best. The apartments provide private space with walk-in showers, handrails, and grab bars, all made for comfort and easy access, and residents can bring their favorite furniture from home to make things familiar. Staff offer transfer to bed, help with the restroom, prescription management for an extra monthly fee, help with blood sugar monitoring (but not insulin shots), and services for diabetic or incontinence care, though residents need to manage incontinence on their own.

The services match the level of need, so costs change depending on how much help a person wants with basic activities like dressing, moving around, and taking medicine, and there are extra charges for things like therapy or prescription services. Meals are provided, including a continental breakfast, and chef services are available, so residents don't have to worry about cooking, and restaurant-style dining adds variety to meal times. Carports, parking, a winter valet, and internet hookups add convenience. Security keeps the community safe, and there's an emergency response system in place if anything happens.

Medallion Village has a busy calendar of daily activities, volunteer work, exercise, and birthday parties, and offers trips to local places, plus there are regular programs to encourage socializing and movement, so nobody has to feel lonely or left out. There are indoor common spaces where residents can sit and talk or read, and people can invite their family or friends to their apartments for visits or small gatherings. The atmosphere aims to be welcoming and home-like, trying to keep things as independent and normal as possible, and the staff treat residents with dignity, offering help as needed while encouraging social and personal growth.

For health needs, Medallion Village offers prescription services, wellness programs, and has access to rehabilitation through partners like Rehabitat Systems of MI Inc., and hospice services are also available if needed. Trained staff help with care plans and medication reminders, and extra support is offered through rest home services for those needing more help. The buildings have been designed to look and feel pleasant, clean, and calm, with prompt maintenance for anything that needs fixing. The family-owned operation focuses on friendliness, with professionalism from both staff and management, and Medallion Village includes several Adult Foster Care Homes across towns in Michigan such as Clare, Gladwin, St. Helen, Standish, and West Branch, and it also connects with services like Senior Respite Care, Adult Day Care, and help for veterans through The Horizon Senior Living. The goal is to provide seniors a peaceful, safe, and lively community where residents can stay active, well cared for, and as independent as their health allows.
