    Excellent rehab, inconsistent long-term care

I received excellent PT - I feel stronger and the rehab staff were professional and effective, and the memory-care rooms are bright and wheelchair-friendly. Many caregivers were kind and attentive, but staffing was inconsistent: call buttons were ignored at times, requests went unfulfilled, rooms weren't cleaned regularly, towels/linen/shower access were sometimes missing, and maintenance issues lingered. The food was often poor or cold. Overall I'd recommend this facility for short-term rehab/PT, but I would hesitate to trust it for long-term care given the hygiene, staffing, and reliability concerns.

About Cherrywood Nursing & Living Ctr.

Cherrywood Nursing & Living Center sits in Sterling Heights and offers a broad mix of care and services, and it's a for-profit place that takes both Medicare and Medicaid, so it can help folks after a hospital stay or those looking for more long-term support. The facility employs many licensed medical staff-registered nurses, LPNs, CNAs, as well as physicians, therapists, dieticians, pharmacists, social workers, and other specialists-so there's always someone there who knows what to do and how to help if a resident needs it day or night. The staff gives attention to different needs, from skilled nursing, memory care, and assisted living through CareEven, to independent and home care, so a wide variety of seniors could find the support they're looking for. People can get help with things like wound care, stroke recovery, cardiac therapy, IV antibiotics, occupational therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy, pain management, and palliative care. They even provide pharmacy, nutritional counseling, laboratory, and X-ray services on site. Cherrywood's got a skilled nursing facility designation and focuses on post-acute recovery, especially after illness, injury, or joint replacement, and its rehabilitation services aim to help residents regain independence and make their lives feel a little bit better. The building had a $4 million renovation in 2019, which brought in updates to improve safety and comfort, and there's a warm, homey feel for those who like plenty of company around. The place also has a high grade of A in short-term care, meaning the staff handles short stays and recovery with strong professional skill. Residents can find a mix of personal care services, amenities like a resident council and a family council for sharing ideas, and daily programs to keep folks active and connected. Whether someone needs hospice care, orthopedic rehab, Alzheimer's services, or wants to join activities and have home making help, Cherrywood tries to meet those needs with its team of dedicated healthcare professionals working to make each care plan fit the individual. The facility is associated with Pomeroy Living Sterling and information, including options, is at www.cherrywood.com.
