    Small spotless caring home-like facility

I'm so grateful we found this small, home-like facility - spotless, calm, and residents well-groomed and comfortable. The owner and staff are caring, knowledgeable, treat residents like family, and provide excellent medical coordination (doctors, nurses, therapy), prescription management, pressure-sore prevention, prompt communication, and balanced homemade meals. I highly recommend this place - five stars; I only wish we'd found it sooner.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive. Reviewers repeatedly emphasize high-quality, compassionate care provided by experienced and attentive staff. Many comments highlight that residents are treated like family and that the environment feels like a home rather than an institution. Cleanliness, orderliness, and maintenance are consistently praised, and multiple reviewers explicitly say they would recommend the community or regret not finding it sooner.

Care quality and staffing stand out as the most frequently mentioned strengths. Caregivers and owners are described as caring, knowledgeable, and hands-on; staff are characterized as patient, polite, smiling, and attentive. Reviews note that residents are well groomed, relaxed, and comfortable; pressure wounds are minimized and medical needs are met. The home also provides staff in-service training specifically on dementia care and safe transfers, suggesting ongoing staff development. Several reviewers point to smooth transitions into the home, strong care coordination with physicians and therapists, and reliable prescription management.

The facility itself is depicted as small, clean, and home-like — often described as a six-resident house or similarly small setting that is not crowded. This intimate scale appears to be an asset for many families: it enables personalized service, fosters a close-knit community, and gives residents a sense of belonging. The neighborhood is noted as safe. The physical environment is repeatedly described as inviting and well-maintained, reinforcing the perception of a comfortable living setting.

Dining and daily living supports receive favorable mention. Multiple reviews note well-balanced meals featuring whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and protein, with some specifically calling out homemade food that fits residents’ dietary needs. While one reviewer described the food as "adequate," the overall tone is that meals are appropriate and contribute to resident well-being.

Medical and therapy services are available and coordinated: reviewers report visiting doctors, access to physical therapy, attentive monitoring, and prompt communication when a resident’s status changes. One recurring theme, however, is the limitation around high-acuity medical care. A few reviews describe residents being transferred when their care needs exceeded what the home can provide. This indicates the home is well suited for many long-term/residential needs but may not serve residents who require intensive or hospital-level care.

A small number of concerns appear in the reviews. Language barrier is mentioned by at least one reviewer who noted staff were not fully fluent in English, which may affect communication for some families. Other reviewers found the home "not the right fit" for relatives who wanted greater independence or a different style of care, indicating that the small, closely supervised environment is not ideal for every prospective resident. The small size that many praise can also limit the range of services or social diversity compared with larger facilities.

Management, communication, and transparency are strengths: reviewers describe an approachable administrator/owner who is on top of things, informative tours, an informative bulletin board for families and caregivers, and prompt updates on resident condition. These operational qualities support family confidence and peace of mind.

In summary, Touch Of Care Senior Living is consistently described as a clean, well-run, small, home-like community with compassionate, trained staff and strong medical coordination appropriate for many seniors. It excels at individualized attention, grooming and comfort, home-style dining, and maintaining resident dignity. Prospective residents and families should note the facility’s limitations regarding higher-acuity medical needs and consider whether the intimate, structured setting matches the resident’s desire for independence and language preferences. For those seeking a small, family-oriented, well-managed home environment, the reviews indicate this facility is highly recommended by many families.

About Touch Of Care Senior Living

Touch Of Care Senior Living sits in a quiet, tree-lined neighborhood in eastern Troy, Michigan, and they've got a layout that feels just like a home, nothing fancy but practical with roomy open spaces and lots of windows, so there's always good light and views of the outdoors, which makes it feel less boxed in. People living there can have either private or semi-private rooms, and everyone's got access to cable TV, internet, local phone calls, and the kind of regular things like daily housekeeping and laundry that keep routines easy. There's always a trained caregiver or nurse around, day or night, and visiting doctors, nurses, and therapists come by to check up on folks, which is good for keeping an eye on health without having to leave the place.

The home's owned and run by experienced medical professionals, certified to care for seniors with memory loss, so you get that extra bit of confidence when it comes to understanding both aging and dementia. They've got ramps in all the right places, grab bars, raised toilets, and walk-in showers, so people can move around safely, whether using a wheelchair or walking on their own. Meals get tailored to fit people's preferences, with snacks at the ready, and they run a full schedule of recreational activities and fitness classes, not just to keep bodies moving but to give a little bit of joy to the day, whether with games, haircuts, nail services, or just a stroll through their gardens.

Touch Of Care takes care of people who need some help because they're older, recovering from surgery, handicapped, or dealing with memory problems. They do both short-term respite care and long-term stays, and they've got hospice care available, too. The community is licensed for up to six adults, which means it's never crowded, and everyone gets a good amount of attention. Staff talk with residents and their families to learn their life stories, so care feels more personal, and there's a real effort made toward building trust and making people comfortable. The owners, President Brigido Mapili, PT, and Administrator Sarah Jean Mapili, PT, OCS, both have backgrounds in healthcare and run four locations across Troy, Sterling Heights, Warren, and Clinton Township, always aiming to make sure nobody slips between the cracks. The environment's warm and people-oriented, and you see that they genuinely want the place to be a real home away from home, filled with compassion and a steady hand no matter what the day brings.
