    Compassionate skilled care, spotless grounds

I feel my loved one is treated like family here - loving, highly skilled caregivers (Claude and Daniela visible and responsive), a spotless home with no medicinal smell, fresh-from-scratch customizable meals, private furnished rooms with TV/cable and sit-to-stand recliners, regular nursing/PT/OT/doctor visits, and a robust activities program (bingo, art, music, chair yoga, memory care) set in beautiful, sunny grounds. Overall I highly recommend it for compassionate, person-centered care, though I suggest checking state/licensing records because there have been some outside complaints.

    Summary review

Overall impression: The review summaries present a strongly mixed but predominantly positive picture of day-to-day life at the facility, with the majority of reviewers praising cleanliness, compassionate staff, robust activities, homelike atmosphere, and high-quality meals and clinical supports. Many families describe the environment as exceptionally clean (noting lack of medicinal odors), attractive and airy, with outdoor views and sunshine. Numerous reviewers use language such as "family-like," "loving," and "highly recommended," and several name individual staff (Claude, Daniela, Michelle, Aide Maria) as standout caregivers who make residents feel at home.

Care quality and staff: A dominant theme is high-quality, person-centered care delivered by a dedicated team. Reviews frequently highlight well-trained caregivers, regularly scheduled nurse visits, availability of PT/OT and doctor visits as needed, and the presence of a recreational therapist and art instructor. Many accounts describe staff treating residents like family, providing attentive support, and offering specialized memory-care activities. Multiple reviewers compare the facility favorably to rehabilitation settings, saying their loved ones were happier and better supported here. The consistency of praise for specific staff members and teams suggests strong, hands-on caregiving that families notice and appreciate.

Facilities and dining: Reviewers repeatedly commend the physical environment: private furnished rooms with TVs/cable, sit-to-stand recliners, state-of-the-art equipment (as reported by some), and a clean, home-like atmosphere. Meals appear to be another strength, with reviewers noting scratch cooking, dietary customization, and carefully managed diet regimens. The lack of institutional smells and the emphasis on a tidy, comfortable home setting are recurring positives. Several families describe the houses as spacious, welcoming, and organized—oftentimes called a second home by staff or relatives.

Activities and engagement: Activity programming is consistently described as robust and enriching. Examples include music, chair yoga, bingo, art classes, memory care activities, holiday programming, and kid-friendly family rooms that encourage multi-generational visits. The presence of a recreational therapist and an art instructor supports a varied calendar that keeps residents engaged and connected, and reviewers highlight meaningful family interactions and frequent visitation opportunities.

Management and concerning reports: Despite the many favorable comments, there are significant, recurring concerns about management and regulatory compliance that cannot be ignored. Several summaries reference state reports and probate filings involving the owners, along with allegations of licensing violations or operating beyond the state-approved capacity. Some reviews make serious claims — owner dishonesty, being profit-driven, disrespect toward employees, staff being fired for speaking up, residents allegedly left unattended for long periods (one claim cites 12 hours), and at least one reported case of skin breakdown. These allegations are serious and represent a stark contrast to the otherwise positive day-to-day reports; they raise questions about oversight, transparency, and consistent adherence to regulatory and safety standards. Importantly, reviews are mixed regarding the owners: some families praise Claude and Daniela for responsive leadership (including during COVID-19), while others accuse them of troubling behavior—indicating significant variability in experiences or perceptions.

Patterns, recommendations, and cautions: The overall pattern is one of high satisfaction from many families regarding care, staffing, cleanliness, meals, and activities, tempered by alarming but less frequent allegations related to management practices and compliance. For prospective families, the reviews suggest this facility can deliver warm, attentive, person-centered care in a clean, well-appointed home-like setting; however, due diligence is strongly advised. Recommended steps include reviewing current state licensing and inspection reports, asking about current occupancy vs. licensed capacity, inquiring about staffing ratios and turnover, requesting incident/accident and complaint histories, speaking directly with current families, and observing multiple shifts if possible. If you have a loved one with higher acuity or memory-care needs, ask for specifics about staff training, clinical oversight, and documentation of oversight actions in response to any past regulatory findings.

Bottom line: Many reviewers enthusiastically recommend the facility for its compassionate caregivers, clean and comfortable environment, individualized meals, and engaging activities. However, the presence of repeated, serious allegations about regulatory compliance and management conduct—though not universal—necessitates careful verification before making placement decisions. The decision should balance the strong, consistent praise for frontline care with a thorough check of managerial and regulatory integrity to ensure the positive day-to-day experiences are reliably maintained.

    About Ahava group

Ahava Group has served seniors in Michigan since 2013 with group homes owned and managed by Mr. Claude Marit, who makes sure everything runs smoothly and pays close attention to residents' needs. The homes are located in West Bloomfield, Farmington Hills, Bloomfield Hills, Walled Lake, and White Lake. The group's main focus is on providing a safe, homelike place for seniors who can't live alone but don't want a big institution, with staff trained and licensed to help with many health issues like dementia, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, congestive heart failure, and more. Private rooms can be furnished and decorated with personal things, and there are shared living rooms, kitchens, dining rooms, and bathrooms to make things feel more comfortable and familiar. Homes have air conditioning, Xfinity Wi-Fi and cable TV, private phones, and no-barrier features like grab bars, hand rails, bed alarms, roll-in showers, and call buttons for safety and easy access for wheelchairs, which helps a lot, especially for people with movement issues.

Meals are home-cooked, and if a resident needs a special diet, that's taken care of too, plus snacks are available throughout the day. Residents eat together in dining rooms, which creates a sense of community, and there are daily activities like crafts, music, games, parties, and programs that help with memory for people who have Alzheimer's or dementia. There are always 24-hour staff on hand to help with daily things like bathing, dressing, medication, transfers, and managing personal care. Residents can get help with housework, laundry, incontinence care, and medication management, which helps families have peace of mind. Ahava Group gets pharmacy deliveries and can arrange visits from nurses and therapists if a resident needs physical, speech, or occupational therapy.

Family and friends can visit any time, with open visiting hours, easy parking, and special visitor areas. Everything's designed to keep things homey, safe, and welcoming without feeling like an institution. The owner, Mr. Marit, stays involved and keeps things focused on each person, making sure no one feels forgotten or left out. The place holds an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau because it tries hard to do the right thing, treat people with kindness, and provide good care. The community offers respite care too, so families can get a break. People who live here can take part in a range of activities, stay in private rooms that feel like their own, and get the help they need, whether for a short time or for ongoing care due to health conditions. Ahava Group is made to make seniors feel safe, respected, and cared for as individuals.
