About The Kensington at Beatrice - CLOSED

The Kensington at Beatrice, now closed, sat in a historic building that used to be the Paddock Hotel and had been restored since 1989, giving it plenty of charm and a feeling of history you could see as soon as you walked in, and being part of both the Frontier Senior Living and Agemark networks meant it had access to lots of resources and unique programs. The community focused on supporting seniors 55 and older, offering independent living, assisted living, memory care for those with Alzheimer's and other types of dementia, respite care for short-term stays, adult daycare with long hours, and even hospice support when it was needed. People could really settle in because the place let you age in place, which means folks could stay even as their care needs changed, and they could get help with things like bathing, dressing, transfers from bed to wheelchair, medication management, and diabetic care. The staff and nurses were around 24 hours a day, with emergency alert systems to keep everyone as safe as possible, and there were programs to help prevent wandering for those who needed that kind of support, too.

The building had studio and semi-private apartments, offered some pet-friendly spaces, and had room amenities that made it feel like home, such as comfortable lounges with a coffee bistro, a large aviary, and even a vintage soda shoppe and family game room. There were indoor and outdoor common areas, including a covered deck with raised container gardens, patios, and walking paths for enjoying the fresh air, along with a beauty/barber salon, spa room with whirlpool, recreation room, and an exercise room with equipment for those who wanted to stay active. If you were looking for spiritual support, you found a chapel inside, plus devotional services both on site and offsite. Residents could also enjoy a community arts room, a movie night space, and plenty of organized activities, including trips for fishing, sports games, and adventure outings, and there was always something going on, with a full-time Activity Director and programs like the Bucket List program, LifeCycles Wellness Program, and Kensington-Evergreen signature activities. The dining room was beautiful and residents could enjoy restaurant-style meals, flexible anytime dining, guest meals, and special dietary options like Kosher or vegetarian, with the food well-regarded for being both tasty and nutritious. The facility won awards for its meals, activities, and staff friendliness.

Health and support services covered things like incontinence care, non-ambulatory care, medication administration, diabetic support with insulin injections and blood sugar checks, and coordination with healthcare providers, plus access to patient technology like a patient portal and online scheduling connected to specific clinics, which included Beatrice Express Care, Beatrice Family & Internal Medicine, Beatrice General Surgery, and Beatrice Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine. Scheduled transportation was available, and there was parking for residents and guests, with free and paid options, and two on-site Bed and Breakfasts made it easier for overnight visitors. The community sponsored many on- and offsite activities to keep residents engaged, encouraged socializing with scheduled events and clubs, supported volunteer projects, and held celebrations for holidays and regular Friday gatherings. Laundry, dry cleaning, and housekeeping services made daily living simpler. The community valued a homey and caring environment where staff helped with daily living needs, listened to residents, and fostered a supportive atmosphere, all while being licensed and offering all-inclusive pricing, so people didn't have to worry about surprise fees. The Kensington at Beatrice aimed to make a comfortable, lively, and safe place for older adults to live, learn, and make friends.
