    Caring staff, peaceful Christ-centered community

I live here and highly recommend it - the staff (especially Erica and Chuck) are caring, responsive, and truly go above and beyond, and management and maintenance keep the grounds and updated, perfectly sized units spotless. The community is friendly and active with a lovely community center, beautiful lake/bridge views, plenty of programs, and convenient home-health/therapy options. I feel comfortable, well cared for, and enjoy the peaceful, Christ-centered atmosphere.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is strongly positive, with multiple reviewers highlighting compassionate staff, well-kept facilities, active social life, and good value. The dominant themes are high-quality, attentive caregiving and a campus that is physically attractive and functionally convenient. Many comments call out individual staff members and administrators by name (for example, Chuck and Erica) and emphasize that staff consistently show care, concern, and timely follow-through. Several reviewers explicitly state they highly recommend the community and describe their stays or residencies as pleasant and positive.

Care quality and staff: Reviews repeatedly praise the caregiving team and nursing staff as "top-notch," compassionate, and responsive. Specific strengths mentioned include quick assistance, excellent follow-through on requests, and a personal, relational approach to residents. Receptionists and front-desk staff are described as friendly and attentive. Multiple reviewers remark on a sense that staff go above and beyond routine duties, and one thread of reviews frames the environment as Christ-centered with caring values. Although praise is widespread, a small number of reviews raise concerns about clinical or care-related issues (see concerns below).

Facilities, grounds, and living spaces: The campus and individual units receive consistent positive feedback. Reviewers describe the grounds as well maintained, with attractive outdoor seating, lake/bridge/tree views, and pleasurable summer spaces. Apartments and duplexes are noted as updated, comfortable, and appropriately sized; one reviewer calls units "perfect-sized." Maintenance is a recurring plus — residents appreciate not having to do lawn care or mowing and praise the maintenance team for responsiveness. The community center is frequently mentioned as a hub for activities, and the Village Diner and other on-site amenities contribute to social life and convenience.

Activities, social life, and services: Socializing and entertainment are emphasized—residents enjoy programs, activities in the community center, and a general sense of engagement. The availability of home health and outpatient therapy services on-site is a practical advantage noted by reviewers, and several mention easy access to doctors and medical services. The presence of programs that keep residents entertained, plus community transportation conveniences like golf carts, supports active day-to-day life.

Management, community character, and affordability: Management receives high marks for being approachable and helpful, with reviewers noting efforts that make residents feel valued. Long-term residents report continued satisfaction, suggesting consistency over time. Affordability is also highlighted: multiple reviews call the housing affordable, and apartments are described as "beautifully done" for the price. The community is characterized as peaceful and welcoming, with friendly neighbors and a cooperative atmosphere.

Concerns and negative patterns: While most feedback is positive, there are notable concerns raised by a minority of reviewers that prospective residents or family members should verify. Several reviews mention a sudden policy change related to pet deposits and a Medicaid exemption, which caused frustration and reflects an area where administrative communication and policy transparency may have faltered. A few reviews describe limited hydration and perceived neglect or poor organization, which are serious clinical concerns even if they appear in a small subset of comments. There are also mentions of overall poor organization in some instances. These negative notes are less frequent than the praise for staff and facilities, but they are important because they relate to resident safety, policy stability, and administrative clarity.

Conclusion and recommendations: Taken together, the reviews portray Good Samaritan Society - Hastings Village as a well-run, caring, and community-oriented campus with strong staff, attractive grounds, ample activities, and useful on-site services. The most common strengths are the people (staff and residents), facility upkeep, and the social/programming environment. The primary areas to probe further in a visit or interview are administrative policies (especially recent changes around pets and any financial/Medicaid-related exemptions) and any clinical routines tied to hydration and day-to-day care organization. Overall, the preponderance of feedback is positive and many reviewers strongly recommend the community, but prospective residents and families should ask specific questions about recent policy changes and clinical oversight during an in-person tour or meeting with management.
