    Caring attentive clean social community

I moved my mom here and we've had a very positive experience. Nursing, management (Erica and Chuck) and front-line staff are caring, attentive and responsive; maintenance keeps the updated, affordable two-bedroom duplexes and grounds spotless so there's no yardwork to worry about. The Village Diner, busy Community Center, golf-cart service, available home health/therapy and peaceful lake/tree views make daily life social and convenient - a welcoming, Christ-centered community where residents feel like family; I highly recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Good Samaritan Society - Hastings Village is consistently described as a well-kept, community-oriented campus with strong on-site amenities and active programming. Reviewers repeatedly praise the caregiving and nursing staff for being attentive and compassionate, and specific team members were named positively. Clinical and therapy services are available on-site, including Home Health and outpatient therapy, which families and residents cite as a convenience that supports independent living and continuity of care.

The facility's physical environment and services are also frequently commended. Apartments are characterized as updated, well-sized, and attractively finished, and grounds and common areas (including a community center and Village Diner) are described as clean and well maintained. Outdoor seating, lakeside views, and a peaceful setting are noted as quality-of-life strengths. Operational supports such as an active maintenance team, golf-cart mobility for residents, and timely response to requests contribute to a sense of ease for residents who do not want to manage yardwork or property maintenance.

Programming and community life receive positive attention: residents describe a variety of activities, engaging programs, and a welcoming, family-like atmosphere. Many comments emphasize that staff and management take an active role in making residents feel included, and that the community is affordable relative to the services offered. Admissions and transfer processes are described as flexible by several families, and management is often characterized as proactive and resident-focused.

Areas for prospective residents and families to review more closely include policy and communication practices. There are recurring comments about activity fees and requirements for non-residents to pay to participate in programs, as well as frustration with sudden policy changes (for example related to pets or certain exemptions). Some reviewers described complexities around pet deposits and Medicaid/exemption handling that affected expected cost or eligibility. A smaller set of comments raised concerns about administrative organization and communication clarity, and a few pointed to gaps in basic clinical monitoring or responsiveness (for example, hydration monitoring and timely attention to basic-care needs).

Overall, the facility presents as a high-satisfaction, service-oriented community with strong staffing, attractive amenities, and an active social environment. Prospective residents should consider confirming current policies on activity fees, guest participation, pet deposits, and Medicaid-related billing, and ask about clinical-monitoring practices and communication protocols to ensure they align with individual care expectations.
