    Beautiful facility, expensive, communication problems

I moved my parent here and overall I'm glad - the property is beautiful, secure, and has connected garages with storage, lovely common areas, a large library and lots of daily activities. The staff (including a dedicated RN liaison) are caring and attentive, the dining is restaurant-style with healthy portions and a receptive chef, and the continuum from independent to assisted living gives me real peace of mind. Downsides: apartments are small, rates and extra fees (community fee $1,500) are high, the location means a lot of walking for an older person, and availability can be limited. We also experienced spotty communication, staff sometimes on phones, housekeeping/ laundry issues, and unclear points of contact - clarify costs and care level before committing. If you can afford it and want quality care and social life, I'd recommend touring with specific questions.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is largely positive with consistent praise for the staff, nursing presence, continuity of care, and the breadth of services and activities. Multiple reviewers highlight a dedicated RN on staff and nurse-liaison functions that include accompanying residents to appointments and acting as a liaison between resident, family, and physicians. Long-term residents and families frequently report that transitions within the community (especially from independent to assisted living) are handled smoothly, that friends and social networks are maintained, and that the environment provides peace of mind. Positive move-in day experiences and reports of staff willingness to help reinforce a sense that the community is supportive and resident-focused.

Care quality and staffing are among the strongest themes. Reviewers repeatedly describe staff as friendly, attentive, and engaged; low staff turnover is noted by some as a stability factor. Nursing support is singled out as a clear advantage—reviewers describe an RN who coordinates care and accompanies residents to medical visits. That continuity of care, and the ability to move between levels of care within the same building, is repeatedly mentioned as easing transitions and preserving resident independence while providing future assisted options.

The facility and amenities receive frequent praise. Many reviewers describe the property as beautiful with attractive common areas, a large library, connected garages and storage, and a secure main entrance. Apartments are described as well-appointed and family-inclusive programming is appreciated. Multiple reviewers say the community offers many daily activities, organized groups (for example domino train gatherings), and social opportunities that support residents' adjustment and social life after a move.

Dining is a regularly commented-on area with generally positive remarks—several reviewers call the food wonderful, mention restaurant-style dining service, and note a chef who is receptive to suggestions. However, dining is a mixed area: a number of reviewers request more variety and improved preparation for some menu items. Portions are described as healthy by some, but others want greater culinary variety. Overall dining impression leans positive but not uniformly excellent.

Activities and social programming are a clear strength: reviewers note many activities, daily offerings, and an active activities department. Still, there are some practical concerns around accessibility and communication: a few reviewers found the physical layout requires a lot of walking, making it difficult for less-mobile residents to reach activities, and others asked for advance notice about entertainment details and music type. Coordination of outside services tied to activities (for example podiatrist visits) appears to involve the activities department, but reviewers want clearer advance scheduling and entertainment details.

Management, communication, and customer service show mixed signals. While many reviewers praise helpful tours and an informed director, several call out poor communication, unclear points of contact, and miscommunication about whether a unit is independent living or assisted living. One reviewer specifically reported being told an independent unit was actually assisted, and others said staff were often on phones and not very interactive. Requests for clearer coordination, a designated go-to person/department, and better notification procedures appear repeatedly. Limited staff availability during tours and pushy outreach were mentioned by some prospective residents or families.

Cost, availability, and fees are important recurring concerns. Multiple reviewers state the pricing is high and competitive but expensive for many families; some noted a specific community fee (reported as $1,500) and other extra fees. Several reviewers said there is often no availability or units are budget-out-of-reach, making it difficult to move in quickly or affordably. These financial and availability constraints are among the strongest negatives.

Maintenance and housekeeping issues are relatively isolated but noteworthy. While many reviewers describe clean facilities, others report housekeeping neglect such as areas under furniture not being cleaned and specific laundry problems (reports of clothing turning pink). These issues, combined with complaints about staff being on phones, feed into concerns about attention to operational detail.

Physical layout and accessibility receive mixed feedback. The building is praised for secure entrances and connected garages that provide storage, but some reviewers warn that apartments are small and the community layout can require significant walking, which may be problematic for residents with mobility limitations. A few reviewers described parts of the assisted side as less cheerful, using terms such as depressing, indicating variable atmosphere across units or wings.

In summary, Fountain View is consistently described as a well-staffed, attractive community with strong nursing support, robust programming, and an emphasis on continuity of care. Families and longer-term residents often report high satisfaction with staff responsiveness, dining, and the social environment. The main areas to weigh are cost and availability, occasional communication and coordination lapses, some operational housekeeping concerns, and potential accessibility issues due to layout and apartment sizes. Prospective residents and families would likely find Fountain View appealing for its clinical supports, engaged staff, and active community life, but should clarify fees, ask detailed questions about level-of-care distinctions, confirm availability, request a clear point of contact, and tour the specific assisted side units and routes to common areas to ensure the physical layout meets their mobility needs.

    About Fountain View

Fountain View sits on S 108th St in Omaha, NE, and offers a quiet spot where seniors can choose from several living options, like independent living, assisted living, continuing care, memory care, and skilled nursing, so friends and couples with different needs can still feel close by, and the building has both furnished and unfurnished apartments, some with in-unit kitchenettes and safety-equipped bathrooms with grab bars and hand railings, which can be helpful for folks who need a little more support moving around each day, and it's good to know the place is pet-friendly, so you'll often see dogs or cats curled up by their people in private apartment homes or exploring the secured outdoor courtyard with its flowers and fountains. There's a pretty courtyard where residents can sit, chat, or just enjoy the weather, and the property itself is set up with wheelchair accessibility and strong Wi-Fi all over, so it's good for visits and keeping in touch with family near or far. Fountain View offers dining services that put out about 45 dozen eggs a week, aiming for meals that are both nutritious and taste like home, and they handle housekeeping and linens in some units, which saves a lot of steps for folks who prefer to spend their time on other things. About 1,100 miles get logged every month with transportation services, so residents can get to appointments or outings with ease, and there are always activities going on-with around 75 life enrichment programs sprinkled across the week, something's usually happening if folks want to join in.

Nurse care is on-call, which means help isn't far off if someone needs it, and the trained staff, especially those in the memory care section, know a lot about caring for people with Alzheimer's or dementia-they use special Montessori-based programs called Portraits® and Snapshots™ that help people stay engaged and comfortable, while memory care suites are arranged to keep residents safe and calm, lowering the chance of confusion and wandering. Seniors who choose assisted living can count on support with bathing, dressing, and medication, while those in independent living get a more hands-off approach and can come and go as they please, even bringing pets with them if they'd like. Recovery stays or respite care are available for folks who need some time to heal after a procedure, and there's a special effort to build relationships based on compassion, respect, and trust, which you sense in the way staff and residents greet each other. Home care services can also be set up by residents who prefer staying in their apartment with companionship and some non-medical help. In all, Fountain View focuses on helping everyone enjoy a safe, social, and friendly place to live, tailored to different stages of aging and backed up by staff who've seen a lot and care about the details that make life easier and calmer.
