    Caring, pleasant community with concerns

I have mixed feelings. The building is clean, serene, and staff often treat residents like family - discharge planning and home-health coordination were outstanding and they happily accommodated our large gatherings. That said, the place feels understaffed: some caregivers and nurses are wonderful and attentive, while others are not compassionate or responsive; I witnessed a fall that led to injury and would ask about fall rates. Food is pricey and hit-or-miss (we once loved a fried chicken patty, but much of it was bad). Overall a caring, pleasant community but with real staffing, safety, and accessibility concerns - recommend, but with caution.

    About Immanuel: The Lighthouse

Immanuel: The Lighthouse is a not-for-profit nursing home community that's part of the Immanuel family, which has cared for seniors in the Midwest since 1887. This place offers skilled nursing, therapy services like physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and also has memory care and respite care options. People living here can get help with wound care, bathing, dressing, transfers, and medication management. Immanuel: The Lighthouse has both long-term and short-term care, with room for different needs like assisted living, independent living, skilled nursing, and specialized memory support, so residents get the right level of care for their health and lifestyle. There are private rooms for comfort, furnished accommodations, telephone access, and community spaces where folks can gather. You'll find features like a barber and salon, a garden with walking paths, a community arts room, and plenty of daily or community-sponsored activities for engaging with others.

Staff offer 24-hour supervision and a call system for emergencies, plus faith-based enrichment and spiritual care as part of their approach to holistic well-being. Residents join scheduled activities, enjoy meal services (including for special diets), movie nights, and social or recreational programs-daily routines give people something to look forward to. Immanuel: The Lighthouse aims to work closely with healthcare providers and families, making sure care plans focus on dignity, respect, and individuality for each resident. Services like PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) help coordinate care and make things easier for those with changing health needs. Transportation, parking, laundry, housekeeping, and move-in help are available, supporting comfort and convenience every day. This community has dedicated areas for memory care and skilled nursing, plus accommodations that support both social life and privacy. The team here believes in community involvement and family participation, and everything from the arts rooms to the walking paths is set up so people can experience lifelong learning, socialization, and wellness, whether they're in Omaha, Papillion, or Des Moines. The Lighthouse doesn't list its average resident count or bed numbers, but it stands out for a caring, compassionate team and zero complaints about care or safety reported. This is a place that tries to enhance life for seniors by blending traditional long-term care with a more engaging approach, always focusing on helping each person love their next chapter.
