    Family owned community, caring staff

I toured and placed my mom here and have been very pleased: it's a family-owned, caring operation with conscientious, friendly staff who know residents by name and communicate well by phone/email. The facility is clean, bright and cheerful, with abundant, delicious meals (varied menu, two-entrée options, snack bar), lots of activities and regular outings, and helpful services like weekly laundry and apartment cleaning. Apartments vary (some small, some spacious two-bed units), but overall we felt well cared for and would highly recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is predominantly positive, with multiple consistent themes praising the staff, cleanliness, dining, and activities. The majority of reviewers describe Pleasant Pointe Assisted Living as a well-kept, newer facility with natural light and a generally happy atmosphere. Many highlight the family-owned nature and caring philosophy, and a repeated point is that staff are friendly, professional, and know residents by name — a sign that caregivers are attentive and build relationships with residents. Several reviewers explicitly recommended the community for assisted living needs.

Care quality and staff: The strongest and most frequent positive theme concerns staff quality and resident treatment. Reviewers use descriptors such as caring, conscientious, courteous, and professional. There are multiple mentions that staff know residents’ names and treat them with respect. Reviewers also noted practical strengths: a nurse is available to discuss medical needs, problems are corrected in a reasonable timeframe, and communication (email/phone) is used effectively when families are distant. These reports point to good day-to-day caregiving and responsiveness. That said, there is one very serious outlier review alleging corruption, abusive caregivers, and racist behavior; this claim stands in stark contrast to the bulk of reviews and is a red flag that should be investigated further by prospective families.

Facilities and apartments: Several reviewers describe the facility as new, clean, updated, and spacious with a range of room options. Positive comments include two-bedroom apartments that families loved and generally good apartment sizes. However, there is a notable inconsistency in the reviews: some users explicitly state rooms are small or semi-private. This discrepancy suggests variability in apartment types or that expectations differ between reviewers. The dining room itself was called out by a few reviewers as in need of updating despite praises for the overall facility condition and natural light.

Dining and services: Dining is frequently praised — reviewers mention varied menus, two entrée options at meals, a snack bar, abundant meals, and music during lunch that residents enjoy. Regular services such as weekly laundry, weekly apartment cleaning, and regular towel changes were appreciated and cited as conveniences that contribute to resident comfort. These operational details are recurrently noted as strengths.

Activities and social life: The activity program receives positive marks for variety and opportunities: arts and crafts, games, a movie room, music during meals, and scheduled outings using a private bus (noted especially for Friday outings). Outside activities and trips are specifically appreciated. A few reviewers, however, found the activities unclear or felt the activity offering could be better communicated; this suggests that while programming exists and is varied, the schedule or level of engagement may differ by resident expectations or by unit.

Management and placement: The family-owned management and caring philosophy are viewed as positives by multiple reviewers. Several recount assistance with immediate placement and help securing residency, and note prompt, clear communication from the community. Reviewers reported that issues are addressed reasonably quickly, indicating functional management practices. Price was mentioned in at least one review as part of tour/price discussions — while not elaborated on, cost appears to be a consideration for prospective residents.

Notable concerns and patterns: The most concerning single datapoint is the extremely negative review alleging corruption, abusive caregivers, and racist treatment. This is an outlier compared to the bulk of positive comments but is serious enough that it should not be ignored. Another pattern is the inconsistency about room size and layout — some reviewers find the apartments spacious while others describe them as small or semi-private; prospective families should verify specific unit dimensions and floor plans. A few reviewers suggested the dining room decor or space could use updating, and a small number found activity information insufficiently clear.

Summary recommendation for prospective families: The overall picture is of a well-staffed, clean, family-run assisted living community with good dining, regular housekeeping/laundry, and an active social program — attributes that many reviewers explicitly recommend. However, because of conflicting reports about room size and the presence of a very serious abuse allegation, prospective residents and families should schedule an in-person visit (ideally at meal time and during activities), request to see specific apartment units, ask about staffing ratios and training, review recent inspection/complaint records, and speak with current residents or families when possible. Those steps will help confirm whether Pleasant Pointe’s mostly positive patterns hold for the particular unit or care level being considered.

    About Pleasant Pointe Assisted Living

Pleasant Pointe Assisted Living sits in a lively neighborhood where you'll find things like pharmacies, ice cream shops, coffee shops, and different healthcare providers nearby, which means you can get out for errands or a sweet treat and know help's not far if you need it, and inside this place, there are 49 units made for care, independence, and community, giving people different sized options like studios, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom apartments with kitchens that come with a sink, microwave, and refrigerator, plus built-in closets and even bay window views in some units so you can settle in the space that fits you best. Folks can choose private or companion suites, and there's weekly light cleaning, plus weekly laundry, and staff helps with daily activities like bathing, dressing, and medicine, and you'll find each unit has an emergency alert system if something should ever go wrong, which gives extra peace of mind, and the grounds are nice for walking, with paths and gardens, and there's a screened-in porch and a furnished patio for sitting outside when weather's good. There's a chapel, theater room, library, an exercise room with good equipment, a spa with a whirlpool tub, a private dining room for special meals, a game room, and gathering spaces where people come together for events, and staff plans regular social activities, musical shows, recreational programs, domestic activities, and reminiscing sessions, hoping people will build friendships and keep minds active. Religious services from many faiths are held so spiritual needs get met, and there's a family atmosphere where staff knows residents by first names and always looks out for well-being-there's round-the-clock supervision, skilled nursing care, medication management, health care assessments, massage therapy, rehabilitation programs, social services, and transportation options if you want to get around or need to reach appointments, and you can always park right at the facility. People can bring their pets since Pleasant Pointe is pet-friendly, which makes it feel more like home, and WiFi and cable come included. Kitchens in the units let people fix their own snacks and meals, but the chef and meal planners also make nutritious meals every day, using good ingredients, and staff handles chores like housekeeping, bed making, laundry, and even managing appointments if you need the help. Safety and respect are important here-this community's been run by the same family since 1999 and they've earned a deficiency-free record, focusing on providing whatever support and medical care people need without giving up independence, and if someone needs memory care, rehabilitation, or nursing services, all those options are offered, too. There are furnished short-term suites for a temporary stay, and mailboxes for privacy, plus cable TV throughout, all in a setting that welcomes people from all walks of life and encourages staying active, social, and comfortable during retirement.
