    Warm caring faith-based community living

I couldn't be happier with the warm, professional staff - they give personalized, dignified care, encourage independence and respond quickly to needs. The facility is beautiful, very clean and peaceful with lush gardens, outdoor patios, a chapel and pleasant dining areas. There are plenty of engaging activities (daily Mass/rosary, music, bingo, outings), good meals, and thoughtful amenities and suite options (private baths, kitchenettes, memory care available). My move/tour was smooth thanks to knowledgeable admissions and nursing staff. Not perfect - some rooms are small, there's no on-site skilled nursing, and costs/wait lists can be an issue - but I highly recommend this caring, faith-based community.

    Summary review

Overall impression: Reviews of Light of Hearts Villa are strongly positive and consistently emphasize a faith-based, compassionate community with attentive staff, meaningful spiritual life, and a wide range of social and supportive services. Many reviewers highlight the Sisters of Charity/Catholic identity, daily Mass and rosary, and an on-site chapel with clergy engagement as central features that create comfort and continuity for residents seeking a religious environment. The nursing and administrative leadership (including mentions of the Director of Nursing and Director of Marketing) and knowledgeable admissions staff are repeatedly praised for facilitating smooth transitions, assisting with paperwork, and providing fast responses.

Care quality and staff: A dominant theme is the warm, caring, and professional nature of the staff. Multiple reviews call out individualized, dignified care, staff who show real concern, and teams that are compassionate and knowledgeable—able to redirect wandering in memory care and provide tailored attention. The memory care unit is repeatedly described as secure and staffed with people who understand dementia-specific needs and activities. While most accounts describe the facility as fully staffed and responsive to calls, a minority of reviewers noted low staffing levels or fewer activities at times; these appear to be isolated concerns rather than widespread complaints. Long-tenured residents and many accounts of successful transitions reinforce a perception of consistent, stable care.

Facilities and environment: The building, a beautifully transformed high-school structure, is noted for large open spaces, stained-glass windows in the chapel, lush gardens, outdoor patios, and an enclosed courtyard. Reviewers frequently describe spacious suites and apartment options with private baths, pantries or kitchenettes, large party rooms, game rooms, and dedicated amenity spaces (hair salon, computer lab, physical therapy room). The campus is generally reported as extremely clean and well-maintained, though one review noted a large room that was not very clean. Some interior areas are described as dark, with planned lighting upgrades mentioned, indicating management awareness of aesthetic improvements. The environment is repeatedly characterized as safe, welcoming, and family-like.

Activities and social life: Social programming is a strong positive. Residents enjoy a robust calendar including bingo, Jeopardy-style games, live music, and organized outings using the on-site bus. Active engagement from the activity director is repeatedly cited; memory-focused activities are offered in secure settings. Reviewers describe residents improving mobility and making friends, participating in outings, and benefiting from a sense of companionship and joy. A few reviewers, however, mentioned fewer activities or lower engagement in isolated cases, suggesting variability in resident experience depending on timing and staffing.

Dining and services: Dining receives consistent praise, with meals described as satisfactory to superb and several mentions of residents being pleased with food quality. Ancillary services and amenities (some offered a la carte) provide convenience and enrichment, though the note that certain amenities may incur extra fees should be considered by prospective families. There is also mention of a food pantry, indicating additional support resources on-site.

Clinical limitations and logistics: A key limitation to weigh is that Light of Hearts Villa does not offer on-site skilled nursing; it is oriented toward assisted living and memory care rather than higher-level medical or long-term skilled nursing. Several reviewers pointed out that residents need to be relatively independent upon admission and may need to relocate if their medical needs progress beyond what the Villa can provide. There is also occasional mention of a wait list, and a few reviewers described cost as “a little expensive,” balanced by comments about non-profit status and willingness to work with financial issues.

Value, management, and overall recommendation: Many reviewers explicitly recommend Light of Hearts Villa, calling it a hidden gem, the next best thing to staying at home, and a first-choice community for their loved ones. Praise for management responsiveness, knowledgeable admissions staff, and individualized transitions supports a positive view of leadership and operations. The combination of spiritual life, compassionate staff, clean and attractive grounds, diverse programming, and multiple housing options produces a strong overall endorsement for prospective residents who need assisted living or memory care but do not require on-site skilled nursing. Prospective families should, however, confirm current staffing levels, activity schedules, room sizes and costs, and the availability of preferred unit types given periodic wait lists.

Bottom line: Light of Hearts Villa is broadly seen as a high-quality, faith-based assisted living and memory care community with a warm, professional staff, excellent spiritual programming, attractive grounds and common spaces, satisfying dining, and engaging social activities. The chief caveats are its lack of on-site skilled nursing, occasional reports of limited activities or staffing, variable room sizes and potential extra fees for certain amenities. For seniors and families seeking a values-driven, community-oriented environment with strong pastoral support and individualized attention, Light of Hearts Villa is frequently recommended and described as delivering strong care and a welcoming atmosphere.
