    Beautiful community, pricey but recommended

I toured and placed a family member here. The community is beautiful, very clean and well-kept with warm, responsive staff, good meals (three a day), lots of activities, memory care and pet-friendly options - a cozy, smaller-community feel. Communication and family inclusion were strong, though I saw occasional inattentive aides and had billing/promotions hiccups. Biggest drawback is price: units are costly with extra fees and some rooms are small or near traffic. Overall I'm pleased and would recommend if it fits your budget.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews for Sunrise at Parma is strongly positive, with consistent praise focused on the quality and demeanor of the staff, the well-maintained, home-like environment, and a robust program of activities and therapies. Many reviewers emphasize that caregivers are warm, attentive and professional; families frequently mention staff who know residents personally, respond quickly to concerns, and communicate progress and treatment plans. Cleanliness and upkeep are regularly noted — visitors and residents describe an attractive, freshly maintained facility with lots of natural light, wood details, skylights, and inviting common areas such as a bistro, fireplace, activity room and garden patios. The smaller/intimate scale of the community is highlighted as a benefit: it creates a familiar atmosphere where residents are visible, staff can be more attentive, and community relationships feel personal.

Care quality and clinical services receive mostly high marks. Reviewers report good outcomes with on-site physical therapy/rehab and attentive care management; memory care is available and is described as secure with safety alarms and specialized living-room-style communal spaces. Many families say their loved ones enjoy the activities schedule — multiple daily opportunities for exercise classes, games, arts and crafts, musical performers, outings when possible, happy hour, beauty services and cognitive engagement such as puzzles and board games. The community is pet-friendly and even includes a therapy dog, which several reviewers cite as a positive for resident morale. Nursing and caregiving staff are often singled out as the best feature, providing peace of mind for families and continuity for long-term residents.

Facilities and apartment options are another clear strength. Reviews mention a range of unit types including one- and two-bedroom options, suites with private bedrooms and shared spaces, kitchenettes with refrigerators, private bathrooms and accessible showers. Corner rooms with large windows are noted as particularly appealing. Common areas are numerous and thoughtfully arranged, giving residents multiple gathering spaces for socializing, activities, dining and quiet time. However, some residents and visitors feel certain units are small, and a few reviewers point out that not all rooms are all-inclusive or that specific amenities may vary by unit.

Dining gets predominantly favorable reviews: many residents enjoy the taste, variety and portion sizes, and staff are willing to accommodate picky eaters. Still, there are isolated comments about food being over-seasoned or lacking vegetables. A few operational policies merit attention: family access to the dining hall may be restricted (visitor policies sometimes tied to vaccination status), and there are COVID-related limits on outings mentioned by some reviewers — realities that impacted social programming at times.

Management and communications are mostly praised for responsiveness and inclusiveness of family members in care discussions, with some reviewers specifically complimenting coordinated updates and accessible management. Nonetheless, there are recurring concerns in two areas: billing/pricing and occasional lapses in staff attentiveness. Multiple reviewers call out the community’s cost as high, sometimes “overpriced” for unit size, with extra fees and a point-based care billing system that can feel opaque. Several accounts describe billing or promotion application errors that required follow-up to correct. Operationally, most staff are described as excellent, but isolated reports note inattentive aides, higher turnover in some roles, and at least one serious complaint about an abrupt discharge with insufficient communication — a notable outlier that families would want to investigate directly if considering the community.

Other practical considerations include location, transportation and sales interactions. While many appreciate the convenient location and accessible layout, some reviewers cite the community’s location on a busy intersection or a longer drive as a downside. The facility does not provide transportation to medical appointments (though local community transportation options exist). Some prospective residents or families found sales or marketing staff overly talkative or not fully attentive during tours, and a few mentioned scheduling or promotional application issues during move-in. Despite those concerns, numerous reviewers explicitly recommend Sunrise at Parma, calling it the best option in the area for care, praising management and staff, and reporting that residents are well-cared-for and happy.

In summary, Sunrise at Parma is portrayed by reviewers as a clean, attractive, and activity-rich community with compassionate caregiving and strong therapy programs, especially suited to families seeking a smaller, homelike environment and comprehensive memory care options. Prospective residents should weigh the strong positives about staff, programming and upkeep against frequently mentioned cost considerations, potential billing complexities, and a few isolated reports about attentiveness and management communication. Visiting in person, reviewing recent billing practices, asking for specifics about staff turnover and discharge policies, and touring available unit types will help families validate fit and value given the recurring themes in the reviews.
