    Warm caring spotless affordable home-like

I placed my mom here and couldn't be happier. The staff are warm, caring and attentive with proactive POA communication; they provide personalized care, therapy-animal support and sweet personal touches like a memory scrapbook. The home-like building is spotless, well-maintained and nicely furnished with large private bedrooms, family-style meals made from scratch (and plenty of choices), ample parking and beautiful, park-like grounds. It's safe, affordable, promotes independence with help, and was the best fit for our family - I highly recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews for Esther's Place is strongly positive. Multiple reviewers emphasize a warm, home-like environment where residents receive personalized, attentive care from staff described as loving, kind, and caring. The facility is repeatedly noted for staff continuity and long-term employees, which supports consistent, individualized attention. Families report that staff are proactive with communication—keeping powers of attorney and family members informed—and that management is attentive, which contributes to family relief and confidence in placing a loved one there. Several reviewers explicitly state that moving their mother to Esther's Place was the best decision, and the community receives multiple strong recommendations.

Care quality and staffing are central strengths in the reviews. Care is characterized as personalized with staff proximity and attentiveness; staff are described as going above and beyond and adding personal touches like memory books and scrapbooks. Residents are able to retain independence while receiving necessary help, and the facility provides a safe, family-style atmosphere. The presence of a small support dog is cited as a meaningful source of stimulation and comfort for residents. While one review mentions that another facility with more staff was a better fit for their needs, the prevailing theme is of a caring team that communicates proactively and provides relief and reassurance to families.

The physical environment and amenities receive consistent praise. Reviewers describe Esther's Place as very clean, nicely furnished, and well maintained. Private, large bedrooms are highlighted, along with family-style dining spaces and plentiful food options. Meals are frequently noted as being prepared from scratch, residents can request foods, and dining is described as homey and plentiful. Outdoor amenities—mature trees, a back patio, and a spacious, park-like yard—are repeatedly mentioned as positive features, as is ample parking and a welcoming attitude toward visitors. The nearby church is noted by reviewers as an additional support resource that enhances the community feel.

Management and community experience are viewed favorably. Many reviewers felt well supported by management during placement decisions and praised the facility as a helpful resource that made transitions easier. The atmosphere is described as warm, inviting, and family-like; people mention happiness among residents and staff, and that the home environment fosters a sense of community. Reviewers also mention that the facility is affordable or well-priced, which factors positively into overall satisfaction.

Notable patterns and concerns: most comments are highly positive, but there are a few caveats prospective residents and families should consider. One reviewer compared Esther's Place to another facility that had more staff and felt that the other facility was a better fit for their specific needs—this suggests that while Esther's Place excels at personalized, small-home care, families whose loved ones require higher staffing ratios or more clinical resources may want to compare options closely. A couple of reviews mention a noisy residential location and traffic, which may affect some residents’ comfort or families’ perceptions. Finally, a small number of comments are more neutral (e.g., “just fine”), indicating that expectations and preferences vary; as with any community, fit is individual.

In summary, Esther's Place is consistently portrayed as a clean, well-run, home-like assisted living option with attentive, long-tenured staff who provide personalized care and strong communication with families. Its strengths are intimate, family-style care, homemade meals, pleasant outdoor spaces, affordability, and a supportive community atmosphere enhanced by personal touches and a therapy/support animal. Prospective residents and families should weigh these strengths against their specific clinical and staffing needs and consider neighborhood noise/traffic when evaluating fit.

    About Esther's Place

Esther's Place sits on two and a half acres at 5550 Sinclair Road in Columbus, Ohio, set back among mature trees and other homes, and you'll find that it actually looks like a remodeled ranch house rather than one of those large facilities, so for people who want a real home feel, that's what this is-a small care home with five private rooms, each with private baths, and an age range of about 50-80. They help seniors who can't live alone but don't need full nursing home care, and they give assisted living and memory care, even board and care, plus there's respite care if someone needs a break looking after a loved one for a short while. Their main service is assisted living-helping with daily activities, managing medicine, making meals, laundry, and housekeeping-while memory care residents have special programs and secure spaces, and if someone has Alzheimer's or dementia, they get 24-hour attention and activities that help memory. The staff prepares meals and encourages residents to join in, and residents can bring along pets too, since animals are allowed, which is something not every place will do. It's a non-profit, and the price is all-inclusive, so families don't get hit with a lot of extra charges, and the no smoking rule inside keeps things cleaner, with smoking only outside.

They've got a nurse and doctor on call, skilled nursing available around the clock, even rehabilitation and wound care, so there's medical help on hand for those who need it, plus therapists, podiatrists, dentists, hospice, and home health workers visiting as needed, and the staff is trained and there 24/7, though there's no live-in staff, just about six on the day shift. There's a wheelchair accessible shower, wide doors, and easy access for anyone with mobility needs, and resident parking's available. Every bedroom has cable TV and a phone hookup, and the whole house has gas heat and central air, so it stays comfortable year-round, and there's indoor and outdoor common areas for activities, meals, and relaxing, including devotional activities and both onsite and offsite trips. Transportation for appointments is complimentary, and there's a bus stop nearby for those who like to get out. People can join in group activities or get help joining from the staff, so there's a real sense of community, and the property's big enough for short walks outdoors, surrounded by big, old trees. There's no RSS accepted, and they're not with the OACFA, but they focus on a simple, friendly, independent lifestyle where people get as much or as little help as they really need, and the atmosphere's calm, with a mix of indoor and outdoor chances for socializing or being on your own. Esther's Place partners with a community mental health center two miles away and a peer support center for those with mental illness, and the overall feel's like a safe, cared-for family home, not an institutional place, with all the important services a person aging needs.
