    Modern, caring but inconsistent staffing

I moved my mom in and overall I'm impressed: the facility is modern, spotless, welcoming, and offers plenty of activities with excellent therapy and many caring, attentive staff. Rooms and amenities are nice and the food is decent, though not always senior-friendly for some. On the downside staffing and communication are inconsistent - interviews and providers ran late, call lights and meds were sometimes delayed, management can be slow to follow up, and I've seen occasional neglect in parts of the memory unit; it's also pricier with no Medicaid beds. For many families it's a very good, recovery-focused option, but be mindful of intermittent care/management issues.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is mixed but leans positive: many families and residents praise Taylor Springs Health Campus for its modern, clean facility, robust rehabilitation services, abundant activities, and a large number of compassionate, attentive staff. Repeated strengths include the physical therapy/occupational therapy/speech therapy teams (described as skillful and instrumental in recovery), a wide variety of social and recreational programming (live music, happy hour, ice cream socials, worship, bingo, movie nights), attractive indoor and outdoor campus spaces, and well-equipped rooms with useful in-room amenities. Numerous reviewers reported measurable improvements in mood and quality of life for their loved ones, and many explicitly recommend the facility for its welcoming, family-oriented atmosphere and engaged leadership.

Care quality and consistency are prominent themes with contrasting reports. A significant portion of reviews describe top-notch, recovery-focused nursing and therapy care, daily three-course meals and snacks, prompt and personalized attention, and strong communications from clinical staff. At the same time, there are multiple serious reports describing inconsistent or poor care: short staffing, delayed responses to call lights, slow administration of pain medication, hygiene lapses (including troubling reports such as toenail clippings in bed), and instances of perceived neglect—particularly in some memory care situations and with bedridden residents. These issues appear to be intermittent rather than universal, suggesting variability by unit, shift, or time period. Several reviewers explicitly said the staff "did as well as they could" when short-handed, while others described uncaring or neglectful behavior; this pattern points to inconsistency in staffing levels, training, or supervision.

Staff and management receive largely positive but mixed feedback. Many reviewers single out compassionate, professional, and dedicated caregivers, and they praise executive leadership for visibility and responsiveness. A subset of families reported rapid issue resolution and a new administrator who improved operations. Conversely, other reviewers described slow management responses to maintenance and care concerns, lack of an on-site residential manager, unprofessional communication during intake/interview processes, and some unresolved complaints. These mixed assessments indicate that while management can be proactive and effective at times, there are also recurring lapses in follow-through that have impacted family trust.

Dining and nutrition are another area of divided opinion. Several reviews celebrate the meals as tasty and plentiful (three full-course meals plus snacks), yet an equally notable set of comments call the food "not senior-friendly," cite specific issues like cold scrambled eggs, and recommend a dietitian to better tailor meals for residents' needs. One review mentions past food issues that later improved, suggesting that dining quality may fluctuate or have undergone recent changes. Families should ask about current menu planning, dietitian involvement, and accommodations for specific dietary needs.

The facility and amenities are consistently praised: many reviews highlight a brand-new, fresh-smelling, bright campus with beautiful outdoor areas, well-decorated common spaces, and comfortable, well-equipped resident rooms (mini-fridges, microwaves, sinks, emergency call buttons). Activities and social programming are a clear strength, with many families noting how events, music, outings, and volunteer involvement improved resident engagement and overall wellbeing. Transportation availability and community-style events add to the positive, home-like environment.

Notable operational and safety concerns appear with enough frequency to warrant attention. Reports of lost clothes and laundry problems, inconsistent wound-care timing, medication delays, and hygiene issues are non-trivial and have serious implications for resident safety and dignity. Several reviewers specifically stated Medicaid beds were unavailable and that costs felt high compared with alternatives. These are practical considerations for families with financial constraints or those requiring consistent, high-acuity nursing support.

Bottom line: Taylor Springs Health Campus offers many clear strengths—excellent therapy services, an attractive and clean facility, an active program of activities, and a large number of caring staff and involved leaders. However, there is a recurring pattern of inconsistent care quality and operational issues (short staffing, delayed responses, hygiene and laundry problems, and mixed dining experiences) that have led to some serious negative reports. Prospective families should weigh the strong positives against the reported variability. Recommended due diligence includes: asking about current staffing ratios, turnover, and on-site management presence; confirming wound care, medication administration, and call-light response protocols; checking for dietitian involvement and menu accommodations; inquiring about laundry and lost-item procedures; and, if possible, speaking with families in the specific unit of interest (e.g., memory care vs. rehab) to understand unit-level consistency. These steps will help determine whether a resident is likely to experience the consistently excellent care many reviewers described or be exposed to the intermittent problems others reported.

The building's new and clean, and the community stays small, with space for about 21 residents, which makes it feel more like a close-knit home than a large institution. Apartments come as studios or one-bedrooms, sometimes with sliding barn doors, private baths, a kitchen or kitchenette with dark wood cabinets and light countertops, and energy-efficient appliances. Many have nice touches like seating by the windows and in-unit washers and dryers. The whole place is smoke-free and pet visitors are welcome, though there could be fees.

The campus features outdoor patios, gardens, a putting green, and walking paths. Indoors, residents spend time in lounge spaces like the Lions Lounge with computers, comfy seats, and a TV. Activity rooms and a bistro with bar seating give people spots to relax or socialize, and there's a private movie theater with luxury seats for screenings and group events. Shared areas stay bright thanks to plenty of windows and natural light, and you'll find fireplaces, flat-screen TVs, and cozy chairs throughout the common rooms.

Taylor Springs focuses on helping residents stay active, with a 24-hour fitness center, guided exercise classes, and programs focused on wellness and vitality. There are cookouts, movie nights, and educational choices like Artisans art workshops and Lifelong Learning courses, plus scheduled daily, community-sponsored, and resident-led activities, and outings to nearby places. Residents get support if they want to keep up hobbies or learn new skills, and there's a small library for quiet reading. The beauty salon, onsite laundry, and housekeeping help take care of personal needs.

The campus provides chef-prepared meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, served in dining areas or private dining rooms, and can handle special diets like diabetes-friendly menus. Apartments and common areas have widely available Wi-Fi and cable TV. Housekeeping, laundry, covered patios, gardens, transportation for outings and appointments, move-in help, and 24-hour emergency maintenance all support comfort and convenience for residents. Healthcare is always available, including medication management, diabetes support, hospice and dementia care, mild cognitive impairment programs, physical and speech therapies, and a 24-hour call or emergency system.

Special memory care programming, like the Best Friends Approach and the Daily Rhythms program, helps those with Alzheimer's or similar conditions, adding emotional connection to daily care. Trained staff support residents with activities of daily living like bathing, dressing, eating, and getting to appointments. When needed, the skilled nursing area provides round-the-clock medical support and therapies right on campus.

Taylor Springs offers webinars and educational resources for families, plus short-term rehab stays after hospital visits. The campus is close to cafes, pharmacies, hospitals, and places of worship for added convenience. All in all, this is a modern, well-kept place where residents can live comfortably, stay social and active, and get the care they need.
