    Compassionate care saved my mom

I couldn't be more grateful for this small, remodeled senior living center - the staff are deeply caring, patient, and treat residents like family. The facility is modern and spotless (Cleanest Kitchen, Gold Plate Award 2025), the food is excellent, and outings/activities are thoughtful. They provided life-saving oxygen and extended my mom's life; management and staff are responsive, supportive, and go above and beyond. I trust them completely and highly recommend their compassionate, personalized care.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive, with repeated emphasis on compassionate, family‑style care and a staff culture that treats residents like members of the family. Many reviewers highlight that the center is small enough to provide personalized attention, and they describe staff as kind, patient, understanding, and willing to go above and beyond. Several comments specifically praise staff responsiveness to situations and emergencies — including accounts of life‑saving oxygen support that extended a resident's life — which underscores both the clinical competence and attentiveness of the caregiving team.

Staff and management are frequent focal points of praise. Reviewers name supportive management roles (business office manager, social director, admissions director) and emphasize a helpful, friendly administrative presence. Multiple reviewers call out long staff tenure (one mention of six years), which suggests continuity of care and established relationships between staff and residents. Staff are described repeatedly as caring, loving, and respectful; phrases such as "trusted facility," "best care possible," and "treat family like their own" recur throughout the summaries, and several reviewers explicitly say they highly recommend the center.

Facility- and program‑level strengths are consistently noted. The center has undergone remodeling and is described as modern and updated. The kitchen is repeatedly praised — called the "cleanest kitchen" and recognized as a Gold Plate Award Winner for 2025 — and meals (including a specifically praised Thanksgiving meal) receive strong positive comments. Reviewers highlight resident activities and outings, indicating an active programming schedule that contributes to resident quality of life. Short stays are mentioned positively in at least one review, and overall the environment is described as warm, welcoming, and family‑oriented.

There are some concerns and a few less favorable notes to consider. One recurring concern is that staff are "not paid enough," which is expressed by reviewers who worry about compensation and its potential effect on staff morale or retention. Another review simply states "horrible," indicating at least one isolated, strongly negative experience; however, that review lacks detail and is contradictory to the dominant positive trend. A small number of reviewers note initial reluctance or hesitation before placement that later turned into satisfaction, which suggests some families may need time to adjust or reassurance when first engaging with the facility.

In summary, the dominant themes are high-quality, compassionate care delivered by attentive, experienced staff within a small, personalized setting. Strong leadership, modernized facilities, an award‑winning kitchen, and active programming are consistent strengths. The primary concerns are isolated negative feedback and perceptions about staff compensation; these may merit follow‑up by facility leadership to ensure pay and working conditions support continued quality and low turnover. Overall, the reviews portray Cridersville Health Care Center as a trusted, well‑liked facility that many families recommend for its caring atmosphere and strong staff performance.

    About Cridersville Health Care Center

Cridersville Health Care Center sits at 603 East Main Street in Cridersville, Ohio, and holds 50 certified beds, though about 35 residents stay there each day, with the staff known for their effort to offer both short-term and long-term care, skilled nursing, and therapy services like physical, speech, and occupational therapy, and they've got a specialized 16-bed behavioral health unit as well as memory care for people living with dementia or Alzheimer's. Residents find both private and semi-private rooms with private bathrooms, and folks get housekeeping, laundry, free Wi-Fi, cable, and daily transportation for appointments or outings, plus there's an on-site beauty salon, landscaped grounds, and outdoor spaces to enjoy. The center offers home-cooked meals in a few different dining areas, and they provide assisted living as apartments or suites along with long-term care for chronic medical conditions, with 24/7 access to attentive healthcare professionals and help with things like palliative care or respiratory care, while rehabilitation services help people regain strength after surgery or strokes, with personalized care plans set for each person. There's also weekly activities for social, spiritual, and recreational support and a gym with up-to-date equipment for exercise and therapies. Cridersville Health Care Center has Medicare and Medicaid certification and provides skilled nursing services, but its nurse turnover rate is higher than state average at 81.8% and nurses spend about 3.35 hours per resident per day, which sits a bit under the Ohio average of 3.7 hours. Inspection reports and government reviews note some deficiencies, including a March 2025 complaint about not reporting or investigating suspected abuse, neglect, or theft to the proper authorities and violations tied to infection control and federal rules around stopping the spread of infections, but there was no recorded actual harm in those cases, only a risk of harm. Based on seven online reviews, folks have given the center an average rating of 5.0, and the team works to create a warm, inviting place with care focused on each person's needs, though it's clear from past inspection findings and staff turnover levels that challenges do exist even as the center provides a broad range of health services for older adults.
