    Warm staff and clean facility

I stayed here for rehab and was impressed by warm greetings, friendly expert nurses/aides, a supportive therapy team, and a beautiful, spotless facility with active programs and good food. Reception (Heather) and caregivers like Monika and Callie were welcoming and responsive, and issues were usually fixed promptly. My only real concern was inconsistent communication and occasional inattentiveness across shifts. Overall I highly recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is mixed but leans positive: many reviewers praise the facility’s appearance, cleanliness, range of services, and the quality and compassion of much of the staff, while a smaller but important group of comments describe negative personal experiences and communication problems that impacted trust and satisfaction.

Facilities and atmosphere: Multiple reviewers highlight the physical environment — both outside and inside are called beautiful, with frequent comments that the community is very clean and appears upscale or "fanciest." The place is described as safe, organized, and welcoming, which supports its positioning as a positive retirement community with independent living as well as assisted living and memory care options. Holiday programming and active social calendars are repeatedly mentioned, indicating a robust activities program and a lively community culture.

Care quality and rehabilitation: Many reviews emphasize very good care, a high level of expertise among nurses and aides, and a supportive rehab environment that helped reassure families about future needs. Dedicated caregivers and prompt responsiveness to needs were called out as strengths; several comments explicitly recommend the community and praise administration and staff for professionalism. Named staff members (Monika, Callie, Heather in HR) received individual recognition for being "awesome," friendly or helpful, which suggests pockets of excellent interpersonal care and leadership.

Staffing and communication: While many reviews applaud staff friendliness and responsiveness, a recurring negative theme is inconsistent communication. Some reviewers report poor communication, both from individual employees (one named: Stacey) and across shift handoffs, with requests for better coordination and clearer information sharing. There are also reports that staff sometimes ignored residents. These issues appear to be less common than the positive reports but, when they occur, have a strong negative impact on families’ perceptions. One review noted a problem that was later fixed and led to a five-star rating, suggesting the facility can and does address some concerns when raised.

Activities, dining, and programs: The community’s active programs, holiday activities, and the availability of multiple levels of care are frequently praised. Food quality is described as very good, and the environment is characterized as encouraging and uplifting, with staff offering reassuring and encouraging words. These programmatic strengths contribute to a perception of a well-rounded senior living option.

Concerns and sentiment variability: Contrasting with many positive remarks, a subset of reviewers described disappointing experiences and stated they would not return. A notable concern raised by at least one reviewer is perceived demographic targeting in aide assignments, an allegation that implies bias in staff assignments and would merit review by management. Cost was mentioned as relatively expensive, which may be a barrier for some families despite the facility’s apparent high quality. The presence of both strong praise for specific staff members and named reports of poor behavior suggests unevenness in staff performance and/or supervision.

Conclusions and implications: The dominant themes are strong facilities, cleanliness, good clinical care for many residents, active programming, and several standout staff and administrative strengths. However, the reviews also reveal important operational issues — inconsistent communication, shift coordination, occasional inattentive behavior, and at least one report of perceived biased aide assignment — that have driven negative experiences for some families. Management appears capable of resolving problems in at least some cases, but addressing the communication gaps, standardizing handoffs, reinforcing anti-bias practices in staff assignment, and ensuring consistent staff training and accountability would likely convert more of the positive sentiment into uniformly excellent experiences. Families considering Willow Brook at Delaware Run should weigh the frequently praised environment and care quality against the reports of uneven staff interaction and relatively high cost.

People can choose from independent living, assisted living, memory care for those with dementia or Alzheimer's, skilled rehab, transitional living, or even an adult day program, and the property has homes and apartments with different sizes, some one-, two-, or three-bedroom spaces, and places like the Village Square for independent retirement living.

There's always someone on-site since the community is open all the time, and families can feel secure thanks to safety and handicap features like sprinkler systems and rooms ready for wheelchairs or walkers; rooms also come with private bathrooms, kitchens or kitchenettes, washers and dryers, cable TV, and WiFi, plus housekeepers help keep things tidy. Meals are served every day - there's flexibility in snacks and special diets, and residents can eat at the Water's Edge restaurant, try the Café 100 bistro, or join others in the dining room, which often has a fireplace for a cozy meal, and the menus change, sometimes even with vegetarian options.

The staff follows the "Willow Brook Way," a culture based on respect and care, with a Christ-centered focus, though everyone's welcome, regardless of faith or background, and they're always working on high nursing scores and want residents happy with their care. People can get as much support as they need, like help with daily routines, medication reminders and administration, incontinence care, diabetic care, and medical offices and therapy onsite, and there's personal care assistants, 24-hour nurses, and caregivers who follow each person's care plan. Memory Care gives extra support in private rooms with private baths for residents who need a calm, safe place, and they get activities matched to what helps them feel valued.

Amenities spread out across the campus, and there's a fitness center, library, art studio, billiards room, hobby and activity lounges, and even a model train room, and lawns are always cut, landscaping handled, appliances fixed, and snow's removed before it piles up. The property works as a Continuing Care Retirement Community, or CCRC, which means a person can transition from living more independently to getting extra help as they need it, without having to move far. Willow Brook at Delaware Run, operating since 1972 and being part of Willow Brook Christian Communities, also connects with SourcePoint to offer In-Home Care, Nutrition, Community Programs, and activities at the Enrichment Center to help people in different stages of aging. That gives options for those who want to stay in their homes more but still need some help or want to get out for a day.

Some folks might spend time just relaxing in a quiet spot by the stream on the property or join friends for a game in the activities room. Weekly schedules cover laundry, linen service, and cleaning so residents can focus on enjoying each day. Each person gets the care they need in a homelike place meant to treat everyone with respect and offer comfort, whether through medical help, meals together, or just a friendly chat with neighbors or staff around the grounds.
