    Clean bright community, excellent staff

I toured and spent time here and was impressed - brand-new, sparkling clean, bright apartments with lots of natural light and pleasant pond/library views. The staff are exceptionally kind, warm and helpful; residents are friendly and it truly feels like family. Chef Jason's meals are outstanding, the dining room is relaxing, and activities are plentiful and well-run (trips, music, exercise, crafts). Great amenities (craft room, gym, movie room, cottages, direct library access). A few downsides: typical new-build glitches, some slow administrative/refund responses, dining closes early and there's no on-site nurse; not very walkable. Overall I'd recommend it for active seniors who value food, social life and attentive staff.

    About Verena at Hilliard

Verena at Hilliard is a 55+ senior living community in Hilliard, Ohio, set on over 22 acres of landscaped grounds with over 5 acres of green space, gardens, and walking trails, and it has a fishing pond and a waterfront gazebo too, so folks who like getting outside or being around water might like spending time there. The community offers independent living, assisted living, memory care, and home care services, so residents can choose different kinds of help as they need it, and there are services just for folks with memory loss or confusion, like secure areas and activities designed to help them stay safe and engaged. The residences include brand-new one and two-bedroom apartments and cottage homes with modern finishes like quartz countertops, porcelain tile floors, stainless steel appliances, and full-size washers and dryers, plus attached garages in the cottages, which gives people space and comfort along with nice views of the ponds and green spaces. There are all-inclusive rates that cover most things, including Wi-Fi, DirecTV, utilities, gourmet chef-prepared meals, housekeeping, and maintenance-a person doesn't have to worry about extra fees stacking up. The community has a 9,000-square-foot clubhouse with a dining room, a casual Buckeye Bistro, bar, salon, movie theater, card room, coffee shop, arts and crafts room, and entertainment spaces where residents can join music programs, arts activities, cooking classes, and literary events, and there are field trips and outings if someone wants to go explore or have a social day. For those who like being outside, there's a heated outdoor patio, fire pit, bocce ball, pickleball courts-including one just for the cottages-putting green, and gardens, so there are plenty of options for recreation or just sitting somewhere peaceful, and a hydroponic garden means fresh herbs and vegetables for the kitchen too. Residents can bring pets, but there's a rule against large dogs, and anyone bringing a pet needs to take care of them on their own. Meals can be eaten in the restaurant-style dining room, in the bistro, or in your own home, and guests can join for meals too, with menus to fit needs like diabetic, renal, kosher, vegetarian, low fat, or low salt diets. Fitness and wellness programs happen in the fitness center and yoga studio, and special programs focus on movement and mindfulness, and the design is Fitwel-certified, which just means the building aims to support healthy living. Housekeeping, linen service, and transportation to shopping or appointments are provided, so day-to-day chores and errands are a little easier. People living here have access to physical therapy, rehabilitation, and wellness seminars and get to join hands-on workshops or lectures, author talks at the Hilliard branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library which you can walk to inside without going outside thanks to direct building access, and there are also volunteer opportunities with the local community. The community offers different floor plans and a photo gallery and virtual tours to help choose, and there's even a move-in special with a couple months' rent free on select units, month-to-month leases the first year for new folks, and a Happiness Guarantee for new independent living residents, making it easy to leave if someone isn't happy with their choice. All spaces are pet-friendly, and there's lots of parking, with both garages and lots. The whole place is designed for folks who want to stay active, meet new people, and have services handy as they get older, with a focus on helping seniors enjoy their days, stay healthy, and try new things if they want to. The facility takes both check and credit card payments, and only accepts private pay.
