    Compassionate staff but unsafe management

I found many nurses, aides, therapists and maintenance staff to be compassionate and helpful, and therapy genuinely improved mobility. But administration was rude and profit-driven, the facility was often understaffed, and I saw long waits, missed meds, ignored call lights, skipped dressing changes, lost clothing, billing issues and a confidentiality breach. Rooms and linens smelled of mildew, furniture and equipment were broken or unsafe, and I worried about possible discrimination and overall neglect. Because of the safety and leadership failures, I would not recommend this facility despite some excellent frontline staff.

    About Winchester Terrace Nursing Center

Winchester Terrace Nursing Center sits on a quiet street in Mansfield, Ohio, and has been part of the community since 1963, now owned and operated by Levering Management, and you'll find this is a place focused on helping older adults live as well as possible, with 100 beds for skilled nursing and rehabilitation, as well as short- and long-term care for people with physical or mental health needs. The center's got comfortable living areas and updated common spaces, along with private and semi-private rooms, and you can see touches like safety features, sprinkler systems, housekeeping, maintenance, kitchens or kitchenettes in rooms, and washers and dryers available for use, things that make daily life a little simpler. Residents can join plenty of activities and programs, with arts and crafts, social events, educational programs, health and wellness initiatives, and entertainment options like cable TV, and all these things can make the days feel more lively and connected, with special areas for games and group gatherings, along with fitness centers and salon and barber services right on site.

This place puts a lot of emphasis on good care and comfort, with 24-hour nursing and personal assistance, and there's a team ready to help with things like dressing, grooming, toileting, and more personal needs, and medical services such as wound care, occupational therapy, podiatry, and medication support are provided by a staff known for being professional and caring. Winchester Terrace specializes in support for people with Alzheimer's or other memory problems through its memory care programs and offers a Healthy Heart Program, along with things like music therapy and pet therapy, which seem to bring some folks a bit of happiness or calm. For those needing rehabilitation, the therapy department's recognized for its high standards, helping residents regain skills and move towards their best level of function, and they have state-of-the-art rehab resources.

The center's grounds have inviting outdoor areas for fresh air or family visits, and with policies for initial consultations, assessments, and discussions of care plans, they try to help families know what to expect, sharing useful information on care options, staffing, insurance choices like Medicare, Medicaid, and long-term care coverage, and providing paperwork like inspection and certification records if anybody asks. Transportation services help residents get to off-site appointments or activities, and there's always dining provided in shared dining rooms, with meals planned for health needs. Guests can park on-site and everyone gets Wi-Fi access if they want to stay connected online. People get to see the place in-person or take virtual tours if they're thinking about moving in, and visiting hours are set for 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. or can be scheduled by appointment, which helps with seeing family or planning meetings.
