    Friendly staff, clean spacious grounds

I toured and placed my mom here for a short stay. The staff are genuinely friendly, helpful and accommodating; rooms, common areas and grounds are very clean and spacious. The food is excellent and served in large portions-my mom loves it and participates in activities (Wii bowling, bingo, happy hour); transportation is available and the dining area is huge. Good value overall, but the facility is a bit older, apartments lack kitchens, there's a 2-week minimum for respite, and management can be unresponsive about administrative/pay issues.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews for Middleburg Heights Assisted Living is largely positive, with frequent praise for the staff, cleanliness, food, and social programming. Many reviewers emphasize that staff are friendly, helpful, accommodating, and show genuine concern and respectful treatment toward residents. Multiple comments note that staff interactions contribute strongly to residents' comfort and happiness, and that family members view the staff as attentive and kind.

Care quality and staff: The dominant theme is that the caregiving staff are a significant strength. Reviewers repeatedly mention friendly and helpful personnel, individualized attention, and staff members who are responsive to residents' needs. Several reviewers described staff as accommodating and respectful, which corresponds to reports that residents are happy and engage with activities. There are no explicit reports of poor clinical care in the summaries provided; concerns are primarily administrative rather than care-related.

Facilities and rooms: The physical environment receives mixed-but-leaning-positive feedback. Consistently noted positives are very large, spacious resident rooms and clean, neat common areas. The grounds are described as nice and well-kept, and resident rooms are called clean and pretty. At the same time, multiple reviews indicate that the building and facilities are somewhat older and that overall condition is “OK, not great.” This suggests a facility that is well-maintained for its age but not brand-new. One practical limitation mentioned is that some apartments lack kitchens, which could matter for residents who want more independent living features.

Dining: Dining is frequently cited as a strong point. Food is described as very good to excellent, with multiple reviewers saying residents (and family members) enjoy meals. Portion sizes are generous and often highlighted as a positive, though a few reviewers note portions can be too large for some residents. The facility offers a large, spacious cafeteria/shared dining room that supports communal dining, which reviewers report as a positive contributor to resident socialization and enjoyment.

Activities and engagement: The activity program appears active and varied; reviewers specifically mention Wii bowling, bingo, happy hour, and daily activities. Several reviews note that residents engage with and enjoy these offerings, and that creative residents (for example, those who are artistic or crafty) find opportunities to participate. Transportation availability is also noted, which supports access to off-site appointments or outings.

Administration and logistics: Administrative concerns are the clearest area of negative feedback. A few reviews point to pay issues and unresponsive management, which could affect families' interactions with administration or billing. Tours were described as “so-so” or not memorable by some reviewers, suggesting that the sales or admissions experience may be inconsistent. Another specific operational drawback cited is a two-week minimum for respite stays, which was listed as a negative by at least one reviewer and could limit short-term placement flexibility.

Overall impression and patterns: Taken together, the reviews paint a picture of a well-run, value-oriented assisted living community with strong day-to-day caregiving, clean accommodations, good food, and active programming that keeps residents engaged. The main trade-offs are the facility's age/condition, some administrative responsiveness and payment-related issues, the two-week respite minimum, and some unit limitations (no kitchen in certain apartments). Prospective residents and families often have very positive experiences but should be aware of these caveats.

Recommendations for prospective families: When evaluating Middleburg Heights, consider asking specific questions about apartment layouts (kitchen availability), respite stay policies and minimums, recent maintenance or renovation plans, sample meal visits, and how management handles billing and concerns. A live visit that includes a meal and attendance at an activity may give the most accurate sense of daily life, since some reviewers found the tour experience unmemorable. Overall, reviewers suggest the facility offers good value with particularly strong staff and dining strengths, though administrative and structural details merit careful review prior to moving in.

    About Middleburg Heights Assisted Living

Middleburg Heights Assisted Living sits in the rolling bluffs of the Great Lakes region and has a Greek-revival style with bright white pillars, brick walls, and big divided-pane windows, so everything feels open with natural light, and there's a nice view outside where you see old gardens, walking paths, and places for sitting or strolling with your dog if you want since they allow pets, and you can find outside gardens and walking areas plus a boardwalk at the nearby Big Creek Reservation that makes it easy to get fresh air or watch birds. This is a privately-owned place that started in 2023 after being purchased from Paramount Senior Living, and the executive director is Ben Jiraben, who oversees day-to-day things. The community has a residential feeling, and they work hard to give as much dignity, independence, and privacy as possible with a home-like atmosphere, but they're still built on a medical model, so you have skilled nursing, licensed on-site nurses, and supportive staff available around the clock, which works well for someone who needs high acuity care or help with things like bathing, dressing, medication, therapy, or memory support.

Residents can pick from private or companion suites, all with full baths, different floor plans, kitchenettes, and Wi-Fi, along with emergency call response systems in every suite for safety, and there's cable or satellite TV if you want to watch shows. The community covers different levels of care, like independent living, assisted living, dementia care in the Memory Care unit, home health, and hospice care, plus adult day care and respite care for short-term stays with a two-week minimum, so there's some flexibility if you just want to stay a little while or need extra help. They do an assessment before move-in and then check on changing needs with time, looking at things like personal hygiene, grooming, eating, social engagement, mobility, safety, and any memory care needs, which means they keep care plans up-to-date with what someone needs, and a team of healthcare professionals are here all day, every day.

The main building's got an elegant dining room, a private dining area for guests, media and living rooms, a library, a large porch with sitting areas, and a game room for unwinding, playing cards, or doing crafts when the mood is right. Meals come in a restaurant-style setting, and there's a café on-site for snacks or coffee breaks, plus they offer communal dining if you want to socialize during meals. Housekeeping, laundry, and linen service are included, and there's guest parking if family or friends come by. Other amenities include a beauty barbershop and salon services, along with a health and fitness center that has treadmills, bicycles, and other equipment for wellness programs and daily fitness, so there are plenty of options to stay active and feel your best. They hold social, educational, and spiritual programs, activities like bingo, crafts, music, Bible study, games, exercise, and social gatherings so people can stay engaged and make new friends.

Transportation is available for medical appointments and shopping trips, and there are scheduled social outings into the neighborhood, which has nearby parks, Southwest Family Physicians, and places like CVS Pharmacy, so you don't feel cut off from the community. The facility's all-inclusive rates cover most services, and there's a $1,500 entry fee, but they do accept checks and Medicaid, which opens doors for more people, and all the basic services and amenities are part of the rate. Safety features include fire safety systems, door alarms, and monitored entry, creating a secure environment for everyone, especially folks dealing with memory loss or dementia. Rooms come with durable medical gear if someone needs a hospital bed, walker, or commode, while staff help with daily activities, memory care, wound care, medication, and diabetic management, and therapists provide physical, occupational, or speech therapy right here.

Tours are welcome, and staff encourage families to come see the place to get a feel for the environment, which some people find comforting, and the building's close to medical centers and nestled in a nice location in the Cleveland metropolitan area. Everyone tries to make sure the facility runs as a genuine, caring home, where the goal is to help each resident feel respected, supported, and as independent as possible while meeting whatever medical or daily needs come up with friendly, trained staff always around.
